NOTE: I did a similar thread on all the sub forums as well to get some ideas as well, just a FYI
Good day fellow collectors!! I have recently picked up a large collection of sports cards ranging from 1960 - 1999 (100K cards +), it is a mix of all sports. The reason I picked up the collection was to pick out some cards that I want to send to players for TTM auto (all TTM auto are PC and NOT for sale), and sell the rest of the collection to recoup some cost. Not really looking to "make" money, but rather to rid of cards I don't really need. Majority of the cards will go to card shop as common (a local card shop here will buy commons for around 1/5 cent to 1/20 cent per card), but I don't want to give up some "more valuable" cards to the dealer for no reason. I am mainly a basketball follower, and didn't pay much attention to any other sports. I was wondering, while going through this collection, what vintage sets should I watch out for in all sports (I do know basketball sets quite well though)? I have gone on the bay for some research as well, but obviously, nothing is more valuable than input from collectors that have been in the game for a while. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for your time!! Billy

Topps liked to make a variety of products through the years, as they do today. Anything not a traditional 'card' - sticker, 3D, oversize, deckle-edge - is something to watch for in a lot of cards like that.

As for as years, to make things simple, I'd keep anything pre-1980.
For after 1980, pick up the Beckett monthlies to determine cards with value. Save anything odd, as base_set states above. Some of those issues can be rare and quite valuable.
