Default Manufactured relics

Anyone else hate these, just would like to hear your opinions.

yes. they are stupid. and pointless......

should be illegal for them to count these as "hits" in boxes.

Probably not any more useless than most plain relics.

Not a fan but they do add juice to Topps jumbo breaks.

This is pretty much how I feel about them. In some ways I prefer them, since at least I'm not being tricked into believing it contains traces of my PC guy's sweat.

They are one of the worst things in the hobby (still not as bad as redemptions or repacked cards)

Way way way back in the day it was cool to get a game used jersey piece and then it was even better to get the colored piece or the piece with a slice of a letter or logo.

Nowadays people make a big deal and think a patch is "sick" because it has a chunk of a letter or logo even though the piece is not a 1/1 piece and the jersey was bought from china or sports authority in quantity

No longer is it "holy crap I got a piece of a jersey worn in a game."
Now it is, this jersey was possibly on the player's back for 2 seconds and that's only possibly and the player wore about 20 of these same jerseys

every manufactured jersey piece /patch should be "sick" today when the company has dozens and dozens of potential pieces to choose from since they have a table full of cheap knockoff jerseys that are being used for the product

I like them. As mentioned above, they add value to breaks and at least Topps is honest about them unlike 'event used' or 'game used'. How are they any different than a die cut or colored parrallel? Anything companies can do to add value to a rip is alright in my book. Some of these manufactured relics bring big money too. I have paid for many a Topps blaster solely on the manu relic. Even the duds usually bring back $4-5. That is 20 -25% guaranteed payback. How can that not be a positive?

I like them, but they should be limited to retail. They make great retail guaranteed 'hits'. They are also kind of fun to display. I don't display any 'real' cards for fear of fading or sun damage. But the manu-relics or silk RC reprints are fun to have on display. If they made manu-relics for my PC guy, I'd buy all day.

This is the reason I like them for my PC:

While I'm not a fan of them, there is no denying that they sell for good money if you list them within a week of a products release. Couple examples, I sold a Harper Proven Mettle /99 for $50 (which paid for half of my Jumbo Box), a Jeter Commemorative Patch for $20 (paid for the blaster I pulled it from). Based on those, and the others I have pulled and sold, I've done very well when it comes to making money back with them.

What would you rather have? Another 1 color jersey card that will sell for $2?

I love them in the Topps Series 1 and 2 blasters (not sure if they're in Update).

Like above people said, I'd rather have a nice manufactured relic of Derek Jeter than a 1 color swatch of Asdrubal Cabrera.

Also, they are great for PC. I love the 2013 Heritage Minors and Pro Debut manufactured hat relics and want to get my hands on some for my Montero and Wheeler PCs.

I kinda like them because I only collect cards, I don't rip & flip or think it's my day job. They are good to get to trade for your PC teams or players & to sell to get paypal for your collection needs. Jersey, relics or Manus still aren't as tops as autographs are to pull though!
