Default Are You Going to See "Draft Day"?

I think I've been to the movie theater maybe three times in the last year or so but this might get me to go.

And if you want to see him play baseball with ghosts, watch Field of Dreams.

I feel like this movie is marketed to a very small crowd. Yes, football is a very popular sport, but a fictional movie about a Browns draft isn't very appealing and the cast isn't all that great. I may see it when it comes out on DVD or Netflix, but I'll pass on it in theaters.

I'll see it at some point. I certainly won't make a special trip to see it. When it's On Demand or something.

Not sure what this movie can do for the audience? If all goes well and they draft their guy so what. So little is unknown about the future of the actual players that get drafted that a fictional portrayal of the draft is very unappealing to me.

I'm definitely going to see it and I'm not a Browns fan. Many of us (it doesn't seem like many in here though) have an appreciation of football on more than just a game level. I have a bachelors in Sport Management and I'm a huge draft junkie and a huge salary cap junkie (I passed on a deal to write a salary cap weekly article for a website this summer due to time constraints). I work for a minor league baseball team in the accounting department and the book Moneyball fascinated me (I don't even like baseball). A movie that depicts the front office certainly is appealing to me and I'm sure I'm not alone.

The preview is full of terribly setup one-line comebacks. I can't wait to see it...on Netflix Instant in three months.

There's more to drafting than just picking the player though. Just saying.

Is this match.com?

FTR imo- Having a bachelors( lots of us have) regardless of field should have nothing to do with wanting to see a fictional Kevin Costner movie. I love football and have an appreciation of the sport outside of the games. All the Hard Knocks series I am sure are way better then this movie. Especially with cap decisions and such. If you did not witness the Larry Jonson, Andre Smith or Revis negotiations and other aspects of every player you missed out.

However I would dismiss anyone for their choice

There are also more relavent teams to center the movie around who haven't screwed the draft up for the past 10+ years. You referenced Money Ball. That was a fantastic movie because it was true. My problem here is that this is all fiction. I would rather see a true story about a team who took a huge draft gamble and had it pay off, and get the actual background as the storyline.

Haha. I'm just saying the movie is centered around my field of study. That's all.

The Cleveland Browns are a good team because it seems like the premise is about a new GM who makes a risky move to try to save a team. Seeing as they've been horribly bad lately, what better team?

I get that it sucks that it's fiction, I'm not thrilled about it either, but I'm still willing to give it a shot.

Yes I'll go check it out. Probably not opening weekend though since all the guys on bro dates will want to leave an empty chair between each other. It'll look like a damn checkerboard in there.

I will see it before Sunday for sure. Love football, not much going on and it's supposed to rain both days here this weekend, might as well get my fix while I wait for the schedule and draft to get here!
