Thumbs up Official Thread: Cavs @ Warriors on Christmas Day (Finals Rematch)

Other than spending time with family on Christmas Day, what better way to add to that is a game between the Cavs and the Warriors. Merry Christmas fellow boardies and enjoy the game!

It'll give you a week to learn how to use punctuations.

I loved the Finals matchup last year, and I wanted to see a rematch of it. The way things are going, we may well see one come June.

Nonetheless, after watching a lot of Cavs games this season to see if they were still a capable threat, I don't see them beating the Warriors - either this game, or in the near future. The Warriors have gotten even better, while the Cavs haven't.

The biggest factor? Blatt's system, and his teaching abilities, are nowhere near as good as what the Warriors' coaches do. I've watched Warriors players get better ever since the Kerr/Walton era (Curry, Green - even bringing in Steve Nash to help Curry further), but Cavs players are still where they were before (e.g., Kevin Love's defense is still at the level it was in Minnesota, J.R. Smith is still an inefficient chucker, etc.).

My prediction? Warriors will not only win this Christmas game fairly easily, but either they or the Spurs will possibly sweep the Cavs in the Finals as well (Cavs might win a game, but I'd be surprised if they took either team to six).

(And yes, I understand Kyrie is coming back. I still don't think he'd be enough to make the Cavs better than either the Warriors or Spurs.)

You could give him a year and he still wouldn't understand punctuation. Simple contractions are like rocket science to this guy.

In all seriousness, I think the Warriors will beat the Cavs by about 8 or 9 points on Christmas Day. It's a home game for the Warriors. And it's a statement game. When you compare the teams, the Warriors typically score 115 points and the Cavs score about 101. Cavs will try to slow down the tempo of the game and turn it into a rock fight but it will be one team shooting 2s against another team shooting 3's at similar percentage.

Everybody seems to be forgetting the last time a healthy Cavs team played the Warriors:

Golden State Warriors vs. Cleveland Cavaliers - Box Score - February 26, 2015 - ESPN

Stephy shoots 5-17 while Lebron shoots 60% and goes for a 42/11/5 line.

So are you saying LeBron being a beast is a one time thing that happened against the Warriors, or are you taking into consideration his NBA finals averages of 36/13/9?

I'm online friends with a hardcore Warriors fan, and he provided context for that game tjforce mentioned, because I tried bringing it up a few months ago during a Cavs/Warriors debate. It's important to note that the Warriors weren't doing their small ball then. Again, they've improved since that time period. I could still see LeBron getting his tonight, sure, but the Warriors will probably prevail.

I hope I'm wrong because I actually like the Cavaliers more, player-by-player, as a team. I'm rooting for them. But I'm being realistic. I hope they prove me wrong, but I'm not going to place any bets on it.

Fair enough, but I'd love to see GS's small ball against the Cavs line-ups:

Kyrie/Shumpert/Lebron/Love/Thompson

Kyrie/Mo/Lebron/Love/Thompson

Delly/Kyrie/Lebron/Love/Thompson

Delly/Mo/Lebron/Love/Thompson

Delly/Mo/Kyrie/Love/Thompson

Delly/Shumpert/Kyrie/Love/Thompson

Delly/Shumpert/Lebron/Love/Thompson

Kyrie/Shumpert/JR/Lebron/Love....

And so on.

Will Shumpert be back for Christmas Day? GS might get that W, but I don't think any team will beat Cavs in seven if completely healthy. Whether or not we will ever get to find that out is yet to be seen lol.

Cavs have been struggling early, but they haven't been healthy. Yet still have managed to take the #1 spot in the east.... without one of the best scorers in the league, and without arguably their best defensive player. Mo Williams and Richard Jefferson were huge pickups that adds a lot of depth that wasn't there last year (injuries or not), Dellavedova has blossomed into a very promising pass first point guard who is 23rd in assists this year, but FIRST in the league in assists to turnover. Tristan Thompson who had a less than noteworthy season last year but a tremendous post season, has maintained that dominance and not slipped back into his sub-par role. 10th in the league in rebounds, 5th in offensive rebounds and that is while playing significantly less time, now that Love and Varejao are back. I don't know how anyone can say these guys haven't gotten better, they just aren't whole yet.

I was speaking strictly in the context of individual players having not improved under David Blatt. Certainly they have improved as a team with additions of Jefferson and Williams, but I have not seen improvement from the individuals who were already there last season, with possible exception of Dellavedova (perhaps learning from Tyronn Lue). Meanwhile, Curry is measurably better than he was last season, as is Draymond Green. Probably Klay as well.

The Warriors have been struggling against the Bucks so they'll lose to the Cavs.

Seems that teams with 4 legged animal/mammal as a mascot gives them the most trouble.

CAVS would definitely win if it were in Cleveland..

This is probably going to be a case of home team wins -_-

Hope i'm wrong.

The final score will be 189.5-47, with victory going to the New New LeBronville Athletic Club Formerly and Once Again Known as the LeBrons (formerly the Old LeBronville Athletic Club Formerly Known as the LeBrons (formerly the LeBronville LeBrons)).

This result will be achieved mostly thanks to the fact that LeBron will score 36 points, but then be awarded 64.5 points directly by the NBA top brass because screw you, he's LeBron. LeBron will then proceed to heal a leper and absolve us of all our wrongdoings. Also Curry will go 1-47 in field goals including 0-42 three-pointers, three Warriors players will commit hara-kiri at halfcourt in the middle of gameplay, and we may even see the dark lord Cthulhu rise from the depths and devour Oracle Arena.
