Default Went to a garage sale yesterday and bought a huge lot of cards with some nice finds!

Went to a local garage sale yesterday morning in a nearby neighborhood with my wife, I wasn't actually looking for cards, my wife was the one that wanted to check it out. The lady there had 2 shoeboxes of cards out and I got curious and looked through it. There were random RC, inserts, and parallel along with some autos and jerseys from mostly 2000 to 2011 for all 3 sports. Nothing big but I did see some jersey cards of Star players, the autos were mainly nobodies. I inquired about buying the entire thing and the lady said she had more inside the house and she didn't want to take them all out since she didnt even know whether they would sell and would take up space. She said the cards all belonged to her son whom past away last year. Apparently her son has not collected cards in years and from what she knows he sold all his good stuff years ago, and these were supposed to be cards that were not worth his time selling individually back then and they been sitting in the closet all these years. I eventually negotiated to buy the entire thing for $250 which included 10 shoe boxes and 1 big box (first pic) not knowing what's really in them. I must say, I had a blast last night going through all of them, didn't sleep until 3am. There were more Football than any other sport, then Baseball, and Basketball had the least amount. Yes most were junk, tons of base RC of no names, some low end inserts, and lots or refractors and parallels as well with most being commons and semistars. There were about 30+ Jersey cards, and 20+ Auto cards, with most being crap rookie jerseys and autos. There were a few good jerseys including a Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, two Drew Brees, a Walter Payton, a few Patch cards with the best one I found being a Ultimate Collection Calvin Johnson Patch and a Romo Patch. There was also 1 good Auto that I couldnt believe was in there (see pic below). Here are some of the better cards I found value wise in the lot.

Here's example of what most of the stuff is like

Some GU Autos

Some cheap Tom Brady stuff I found

When I found these in a 50 ct case, I almost had an heart attack hoping for a Brady (currently going for 4 figures)

Found some numbered Brady inserts and parallels. there was one Plates and Patches Parallel numbered 10/10

Some other nice finds in Football, The Gronkowski auto RC was among a bunch of no name auto RC's from the same set , The Rogers Select is a Gold parallel #ed to 50

Found these for other sports, Pretty much struck out completely with Baseball, vast majority of stuff were Bowman Chrome Prospects that didnt make it or cheap inserts and refractors of commons and semistars. But I couldnt believe the 2001 Ichiro/Pujols was in there. Basektball had some ok stuff like a nice DeRozan RC Parallel that's not even $10 until this year. The Durant Parallel is #ed to 25.

I think I need to start visiting more garage sales

That Marshall Faulk Finest Refractor is fantastic! If there's other Finest parallels I'd definitely be interested in learning more.

Nice man, I just posted a similar yard sale find in the basketball forum. There was football too but definitely have more Brady's than I did! I also found a stack of 2000 Bowman Chrome with a Brian Urlacher. Sadly no Brady. I still have the baseball side to share which I will get to the next few days.

It's serial numbered to 999, I guess it is a refractor. For some reason I thought all base were #ed to 999 or something, but I just looked it up and I guess there's actually a base version.

Cool pickup, thanks for sharing.

If any of those crap rookies happen to be Ashley Lelie and are available, I could be interested.

Better deal than buying a box or 2 of new wax. Fun to search all that group. You got value in the count boxes and plastic boxes as well. Reminds me of a thrift shop purchase I had about 10 years ago. 18 5000 ct. boxes @$10 each. All sports. Was an UD Griffey RC, Thomas Rc's, Thomes, Brees RC. Many jersey cards. 2nd year star cards. Fleer Bskt stickers. Took me many evenings to sort it all out.

That must've been fun, they're harder and harder to find now though.

Off the top of my head there's a Walter Payton jsy card, but I think it has some foil damage on the bottom. I'm sure there are other no name rookie autos.

Correct. Those types of finds are rare. Was the only one I was fortunate to come across.

Nice find and you'll certainly profit from it. I rarely see anything like that at garage sales. Slightly better luck at flea markets.
