National Leaguers Red Schoendienst, Matty Alou, Don Kessinger, Hank Aaron, Willie McCovey, Ron Santo, Cleon Jones, Johnny Bench and Felix Millan

I believe this is the 1969 ASG starting lineup. Johnny Bench hitting 8th!!

The Vet was such a magical place when I was a kid in the 70s. The bright seats in the upper deck were so much nicer than the dull blue they put in later. The giant circular NL logos, and eventually the retired numbers. The green water fountain. And the football bleacher seats behind the outfield fence. Every once in a while a homer would be hit off them, which I thought was cool, for some reason. We didn't have a camera, or I never thought to bring one, but I always had my glove, no matter where we sat.

When I visited decades later as an adult I realized it was such a dump. Or maybe it just became that way.

I still like players today that wear their pants just below the knees. How it is meant to be done.
