When his performance drops significantly, which won't be this season.

Those without his cards can try and root for a bad season next year, yet that's a pretty sad way to live life, LOL.

agree. Plus, the Yankees will be back in the World Series. These cards are long term buys.

Im in this boat as well. Its always exciting to see players generate buzz in the hobby and marketplace. Its more exciting than having no one being a surprise bust out.

I root every year for Brady to have a bad year and I am happier than ever. If I was a Red Sox fan I would definitely would be be happy if Judge became the next Kevin Mass.

Card collectors get to bent out of shape when someone wants a player to suck.

So true. You can definitely tell who is rooting against him. I like those who pump pump pump, then sell, then get mad because they left $$$ on the table.

I think the point of sport is that you want your rival to actually be a great team, and put up their greatest effort— and then you want to beat them with your best effort. The competitors with the highest character don't root for their opponent to fail; they root for themselves or their team to triumph against the best quality opponent.

Well said. It's called "schadenfreude," and sadly we do see it in this hobby of ours— a shame when it infects the space between people who would otherwise be bonded by their shared hobby of card collecting.

I've seen it in the vintage space, most often in the form of posts about the 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card.

Unsurprisingly, the authors of those posts don't own the card.

now through the asb is only upside in card prices. if he quiets down a bit and finishes the year with say a 300 average and 40 hr it will still get him roy. the roy playing for the yankees will have massive appeal and offer stable prices in the offseason. preseason hype next year will only add fuel to the fire.

if there is a pop to the judge bubble the soonest i see it happening would be this time next year.

with that said he looks to be the real deal and i believe we are looking at the start of an amazing career.

There is about 10x the upside to buying his cards as downside imo. Even now id be buying whatever i could, and i am. If he slumps the rest of the way hes still probably ROY and his cards are worth, what, half?

What if he dominates though? Gets them deep into the playoffs, crushing homer after homer. Wins MVP, ROY, and hits 40+ homers, is named yankee captain before next season, etc... if sanchez gets hot pitchers wont be able to get around him. Hes seeing basically 0 hittable balls and still doing awesome. Life is a gamble, and im going for it.
