Default Let's talk about Yoan Moncada

This will be the official unofficial Yoan Moncada thread.

Show off your Moncada's.

Talk about Moncada.

When Moncada gets called up and Jaypers creates a thread ignore it and bump this one.

No, the best prospect ever is going to be the guy who gets traded for Cy Quintana.

In all honesty...I believe it was a terrible trade for Boston. Moncada came off as one of those "once in a generation" type players.

I think as long as his attitude does not go in the crapper I think he will have a tremendous career.

He also walks.....a lot. But I suppose that wouldn't fit the bust narrative

Their obsession with me is oddly amusing for me and downright embarrassing for them.

As far as Moncada goes, I think he'll be an All Star type if nothing else year in and year out. I'd still rather have Sale but it's hard to ignore Moncada's ridiculous upside. I'm excited to watch him grow.

Tons of people have more Ks than hits. Not especially notable these days.

Today's hitters are no Tony Gwynn, even Trout won an MVP when he struck out the most

As a white sox fan, I was ecstatic with the sale trade. I loved Chris sale, but it was time to rebuild. Moncada is a prospect worth being excited about. I have been trying to pick up a copy of each moncada card in a white sox uniform this year, including autos. His cards have been cheap because of the trade and he hasn't been called up. I have been able to pick up some rare cards for fairly cheap.

Moncada is going to be a special player but it's going to take time needs improvement on plate discipline which will come as he elevates through the system.

As far as the Red Sox trading him, I'm pretty happy as a Sox fan with the immediate success we have seen from Chris Sale so far this season.

This is one of those trades that made sense for both organizations based on their present situations.

Dude is a total bust. At least that's what I've heard Red Sox fans say after his huge sample size of 19 MLB at-bats...

Don't think I have seen one Red Sox fan say that...

Loved watching Moncada while he was playing for the Charlotte Knights. He's a decent hitter with a high ceiling in my opinion.

After the trade I saw alot of talk on forums from Red Sox fans that Moncada was a bust because he looked so lost in the bigs and that Kopech was never going to be a starter and that the White Sox got fleeced in the deal.

Personally, I think this is going to be one of those rare trades that works out well for both teams.

What I'm curious about for Moncada is why is his finest auto (not the finest firsts) so rare?

Generally, the team trading away the bonafide superstar (the White Sox in this case), lose the trade. However, Moncada and Kopech arguably have the most upside of any position player/pitcher in the minors so I hope it benefits both teams like you said.

I'm not particularly thrilled with Basabe or Diaz, but the White Sox win the trade for sure if Moncada and Kopech reach anywhere close to their ceilings.

Everyone needs to quit with the who won, who lost arguments. The only way you could definitively say if one team won or lost the deal is if Sale gets hurt or something and can't pitch, or the prospect the Sox got completely bust and never do anything at the MLB level. Anything else and it's impossible to measure because the teams are so incredibly different at this point

I believe he is still playing for Charlotte, though on his way to that league's All-Star Game.

I guess the White Sox are waiting to make a few trades in July before calling him up?
