He could very easily end up with 400 HRs and 3000 hits with a career .300 avg by the time hes done, so id say if he stays at the pace hes on than yeah

Just had this conversation with a friend last night. I believe he is a Hall of Famer. His career is not over and he has a ring, 8x all star, almost 2300 hits, almost 300 hr's, almost 500 doubles and a .300+ career average.

He'll retire with over 3,000 hits and 400 HR's and maybe top 10 WAR for second baseman all time. I think he should easily make it.

If he continues on his current path with another 4 or 5 solid years of production he is a no doubt HOF'er.

In all seriousness what would you constitute as solid production? I'm just account for regress, realistically he's 34 now and 4-5 years would be his age 35-39 seasons. I mean look at Pujols, he's a career .305 hitter. Would you expect him to sustain that through regress? I think he'll end strong, maybe .280ish. And put up 3,000 hits and 1,500 RBI potentially barring injury.

i think he is already a HOF player right now.
here are his standings among 2b as of right now.... Runs- 1112...27th all time among 2B Hits- 2297...17th all time among 2B Doubles- 493...7th all time among 2B HR- 295...3rd all time among 2B---Kent record at 377 he is prob a lock to pass RBI- 1146...11th all time among 2B BA- .305...top 15 or so...coup guys who barely have at bats listed SLG- .497...3rd all time among 2B behind Kent(.500) and Hornsby(.577) OPS- 8th...but like .04 away from 5th spot...so top 10 safe bet... WAR- 64.3...16th all time among 2B...5th place is around 80...so he could get up around that range... 2x GG 5x SS(2nd most ever by 2B) 8x AS 6 top 10 MVP finishes...4 in the top 5 (no wins) 1x AS MVP 1 Ring-bad postseason numbers though so that wont really be a talking point. i know this isnt a "stat" or anything...but from 07-16 he only missed 26 games...that is impressive and important knowing you could plug an elite player in the middle of your lineup every day...played 156+ 10str yrs... he is 33...has SIX years left on his current contract...isnt really slowing down as of now...i know that can come at any time... but his counting stats most likely will end up having him as probably the 2nd best offensive 2B ever is my guess, seems like he could make a run to get around top 3 in Runs scored...top 3 in hits, top 3 in doubles, 1st in homers and rbi among 2B... |

I agree with you two, he's already in or close. He's not slowing down, and even if he does another 4-5 years of average production and he's in easily.

But he is well on pace for 400 and 3000 as others have said. He is a slam dunk if and when he hits those benchmarks. But to answer your question I think he is a Hall of Famer already. Anything else he does just pads the resume. |

It's so funny to me how the Yankees used to be called "Murderer's Row & Cano" when he was just starting out. Now, he's turning out to be one of the best players from that team.

I think he will make it into the HOF. I also wish the Yankees had paid him the outrageous money he wanted instead of wasting it on Ellsbury and Beltran.

If no injuries & he gets to 3,000 then definitely ... and he's probably in with career now & a couple more average seasons

Definitely on pace with even a couple more decent seasons. If he retired today, he's a borderline case IMO, although I think he'd eventually make it.
3 or 4 more good seasons and he's a 1st ballot slam dunk.

Yes. One of the better hitting second baseman of all time at this moment, he's got another 2-3 quality years in him. Should be a shoe in unless he falls off a cliff.

Going to depend on the final numbers but I believe he's on the right trajectory at this point in his career.
