Default Judge RPA damaged

So I had this massive pull from 2017 Inception today:

...but as you can tell from the photo, there is a gigantic tear in the top right of the patch window.

It came out of the pack like that, so I'm obviously going to contact Topps to see if I can get it replaced. I've never had to deal with Topps at all, so I have no idea what I'm in for.

Anybody out there been through something similar? Anybody had to get a higher value card replaced from Topps?

I have this sneaking suspicion that I'm going to get screwed here. Like they will just send me a Henry Owens relic as a replacement.

I got a 1/50 Jeter that came in dinged from a fresh box of Archives I purchased. Mid pack insert from middle of the box as well and I open packs super carefully. Opened it up at the shop and everything. I still haven't sent it in. my LCS said to call them first, then send it in after they say to.

Just call them. It's more than worth your time.

Sorry to see that! Yes, definitely call and they should be able to replace that ASAP! That's too bad, looks like it got caught on something.

That damage can be considered a factory error making it a 1/1. Put it on EBay as such and you should do well.

Not recommended. ^^^

Topps will work with you, but I'd think this is not an easy swap 1 for 1. GL

How much would it sell for with the damage? I'd be afraid of Topps giving a crap replacement.

This. You'll probably get Bobby Bundy and Jorge Soler autos and they will call it even.

I would guess you get the same card undamaged as a replacement. If not, still a Judge auto. Since Judge was a redemption in a lot of products, they have plenty in stock.

Didn't have as great a pull as yours, but bought a 2017 Topps Archives Target blaster with the Jackie Robinson patch card, the regular packs did get Judge rookie, but when i opened the JR gold pack, there was a Judge patch which really made my day. Flipped it over and found what appears to be marks from the sealing process across the top of the card making it worthless in my eyes.
Talked with customer service and of course they can't guarantee the same card but will try to replace it with one of equal or "greater" value. Guess I'll see what happens, at the mercy of Topps!

It's a sticker auto. They should be able to give you another Judge.

I would think that they would replace your damaged card with the exact same card, probably even number it the same serial number as yours and then destroy the damaged card you return to them.

This is what I am going to hope for. I am going to call and try to get it replaced.

Thanks!

RPA?
I thought he was a rookie in 2013 product?
He's still a rookie 4 years later?

I would consider selling as is because you may end up with some leftover Topps Football Autos

I sent in a BC blue refractor Vlad Guerrero Jr Auto because it looked like someone stuck a knife in it. They replaced it with a card I was able to sell for $100. How'd that work out?
I've heard some positive stories also, but this being a Judge, if they don't have an identical replacement, you may be SOL.

To be honest, I would probably sell it and let someone else deal with the headache of replacing it.

I only just received it in the mail on Saturday. Topps customer service is closed on the weekends. I plan on calling on Monday.
