Default The Next Time You're At Walmart or Target......

First off, I'm not posting this to get any sympathy or attention.

As a relatively young person in this hobby, it's hard to get what you want and make it enjoyable without spending a fortune (just like any hobby). It is absurd that this hobby is coming to the point where I can barely afford new hobby boxes at my LCS, on eBay or wherever. Of course the Aaron Judge effect doesn't any, but even at retail stores I go to for new blasters, maybe even to buy new hobby boxes are almost always sold out. I'm more than aware I'm not the only one who wants them, in fact I'm sure many want them more than me. Lately on these forums and from what I've experienced, things are going out of hand this past year. Don't get me wrong I love this site and there are hundreds of you, if not thousands on here than make this hobby more enjoyable. At the same time, between seeing $700 retail breaks in the break section, people reselling a few blasters of heritage or platinum for $10-$20 profit ON THIS SITE (which isn't even permitted here), and threads with tons of posts about people driving across their state and other states for hours to pick up Platinum boxes it is indescribably crazy. It ultimately comes down to your motives as a person, but is is truly worth it to go miles out of your way to deny others a chance of opening new products. Once again, I'm aware most if not all of you guys and girls have a sustainable larger spending budget than me and it is up to you what you want to spend that money on.

I'm not certain if this is a big or small ask, but the next time you walk up to the sports card section of your local Target/Walmart/Store, just consider for one second if it is worth it to purchase those last four hanger boxes of Heritage to resell them and deny some kid the enjoyment you had as a kid opening boxes. Or if you go to a Walmart to buy out a newly stocked shelf of Platinum, maybe just leave the next person(s) one or two, maybe even a third hobby box to open for their enjoyment. After all it is just a hobby and not a business, right?

Also I was watching a break today of a Sports Card Youtuber I'm subscribed to, and thought I'd share what he had to say. For those of you who don't know him his account name is Regicidal's Collection and he posts baseball breaks often and maildays. If you care to watch what he had to say from 0:30 seconds in to about the 2:00 mark, I'd figure that would change a few of your minds. If not I figured this post was worth an attempt .

https://youtu.be/ZAzOso7L_eo?t=30s

I know this was a lengthy read, but figured if somebody should bring a realization to what is occurring in this hobby, it should come from the future of this hobby. I hope this post could leave a few more packs on the shelves of stores across the country and bring enjoyment to a few kids, teens, or even some college students.

Ummmm....so you are asking the card collecting public to stop buying so much product so you have a chance to buy it yourself?

Yea, I hate when I go into a store the day after Black Friday and all the good deals are gone! People suck!

OP, didn't you read the thread? If the guy who bought all the Heritage can't flip it for a nice profit, he's gonna return them to Target so all the kids can buy them!! Problem solved.

It's simple to get retail boxes if you put in a little work! so why don't you put 500 miles on your car hitting up every retail establishment within a couple hour drive like any other perfectly sane hobbyist. If the product isn't there, ask the store manager out for a coffee and lay out your case and he'll give you first dibs when new shipments come in. Duhhhhhhhhh.

I don't understand the "kid" argument. I really don't. People use it when referring to pack searchers as well. Kids pack search too, kids are in for profit as well.

But seriously OP, retail still sucks as bad as ever so consider yourself lucky for not having to rip any of this garbage. Buy some singles and be happy!
