Astonishing...

As someone already noted, that '71 box is absolutely ridiculous. If I ever win the Powerball, I am getting knee-deep into vintage wax.

As a result, it is virtually certain I will never be getting knee-deep into vintage wax but a guy can dream can't he???

Assume you buy any of these boxes. Do you open it and hope for high grade cards? Or do you keep it sealed and flip for a bigger profit late down the road?

These were meant to be ripped, and so they would be.

Just speaking for myself, based on the linked Forbes article stating that the pictured box has been opened and is missing one pack, I would have every single remaining pack of that '71 box sent immediately to PSA for encapulsation and grading. This would give me both peace of mind that the packs were protected and the ability to easily liquidate one or more packs should the need ever arise. I would also make best efforts to preserve that wonderful box.

Just an amazing piece of vintage 1970's Americana and in my opinion whomever wins that auction, and no matter what they end up paying, at the end of the day they will stand victorious on the far right side of the deal.

71 is actually one of the few years the ROI ripping could outpace keeping it sealed. I'd rip one pack and if it was centered and clean throughout run through the rest.

At one point in my life, I thought I found a tobacco card of Ty Cobb in my Grandpa's basement. I'm pretty sure it was dream after reading an article about the most famous baseball cards ever. Pretty sure I did come across a fake one at one point in time though.

I still love how the cards were secondary to the bubble gum at the time.

Damn, all my parents have in their attic is a furnace and AC condenser. I don't think there is much a collection market for those.

Finds like these are those one in a lifetime finds and I have to say, if I did find them I would have to rip at least a pack or two out of any find because I would never have that opportunity otherwise.
