Default Rediscover Topps Market

These cards kill me. Just sold a 1991 Kelly Gruber for $5. Some stars won't sell for $0.99. I continue to scratch my head over these sales!

I was the runner up on the Gruber card. It's the first time I've had competition on any of his 2017 cards, luckily I already had this one. I have no idea who bought it, but I think most of these cards are ending up with player collectors like myself.

Why would anybody pay for an old card with an ugly stamp on it when you can easily buy the actual card itself without the ugly stamp?

I don't understand how people question the value of the rediscover cards. Player collectors (myself especially included) love them and they sell really well when the right person sees them. So many people complain about how they are garbage and a waste of space and a waste of a hit... maybe to you, but to a lot of people they are definitely treasure. Sell them all.

I haven't seen a new Ray Lankford card for my PC in years. If one of these comes up, you best believe I'm bidding!

Bought a bronze and gold, the gold arrived run over by a truck and creased to bits. Bummed me out big time as these don't show up much.

That's awesome. I had great success selling them from Heritage. Several sold between $7-12 each. Didn't see that with A&G. About a dozen sold for $1. A few in the $2-5 range. I put up the rest on auction (almost 80) in a lot.

What's the difference between the colors?
Most are gold I believe, but looking through mine I also saw a blue "rediscover topps".
Does anyone know if they're are actual odds on these?
Thanks Jeff

In order of rarity, least to most rare.
bronze, silver, gold, blue, red
I don't know the odds though.

*Bronze and Red are sometimes difficult to distinguish

The nostalgic side of me got caught up in 2012 Leaf Memories when it was released. I bought one box just for fun. I was just getting back into collecting cards after almost 15 years and the idea of a serial numbered buyback of one of my favorite 90 Leaf cards was really exciting. I didn't hit any of the ones I really wanted, but I did get 2 autos, a 1/1 printing plate and a Corey Seager/99 card. So "Hit" wise I did pretty well. But since then, programs like Rediscover just really do not appeal to me. Reprints and inserts likes CYMTO and Berger's Best are far worse in my opinion.

The whole card market is silly subjectivity if you think about it. Mickey Mantle has had a million cards, but some are worth 5 or 6 figures. For that matter, why does printing pictures of ballplayers on 2.5x3.5 pieces of cardboard distinguish them from printing them myself on 8x11 pieces of paper? But once you accept the context, buybacks aren't that different. They've got apparently 5 unique versions of cards that are probably all 1/1s. That they're not printed in 2017 is the main difference, and chasing something completely unpredictable, cards from Topps's whole history, is fun for some. Furthermore, it allows them to insert cards of guys like Pete Rose and Barry Bonds into packs today, which they can't otherwise do.

If anyone has a Will Clark or Mark Grace I would be willing to spend a bit on them.

Maybe mfw13 needs to "rediscover" a hobby that he enjoys. Every aspect about cards seems to make him miserable. lol

This topic has come up numerous times and I still don't understand people....

It's an extra card in a pack. Some are junk, but some are worth good money.
Lots sell decently well for "throw in" cards. I have a lot of 46 "junk" cards up right now and it's up to $10.25 with time left. That's better than 3 relics in a box of Ginter usually. If you hit the right player, it's nice. I've sold a Mattingly and Henderson for $10+. If you throw them away you must not like money.

If anyone has Cecil Fielder let me know. I'm always looking for parallels I don't have.

Agree 100%.....had a couple Puckett's that sold in the $20-$30 range and a bunch of others in the $10-$15 range.....I've sold multiple lots of "rediscover' as well......little bit of something is better than a whole lot of nothing

If you wouldn't mind tossing it in a box, every time you get to 50 I will pay 8 oz shipping for you to send them to me.
