Man, he had a strange journey. Sad to hear it end so so young.

Oh my. He was one of my favorites.

I met him twice during autograph signings, seemed like a really nice guy.

He was always nice to see at Spring Training, and a huge part of the Phillies teams of my youth.

He was always sweet to my little boy (when he was little)...

Knew this was coming, but it still sucks. I was literally, LITERALLY, looking at grabbing a jersey on eBay about 30 minutes ago. Brain Cancer sucks.

RIP, Dutch.

God bless. I still remember him having to stop Mitch Williams from beating up on Dykstra.

RIP. Maybe my favorite early-90s Phil.

It's alarming how many people who played or managed most of their career on turf have developed glioblastoma.

This article came out when Dutch was first diagnosed. 5 Phillies, including John Vukovich and Tug McGraw, developed it, as well as Dan Quisenberry and Gary Carter - who played on turf for the Royals and Expos, respectively.

Don't forget Johnny Oates - who played in the NL, and Dick Howser, who managed on turf.

It's way too alarming to be a coincidence

Definitely a pattern. Glioblastoma is pretty rare overall.

I created this 8x10 myself and had it printed out at Walmart.

Dutch commented on how he's never seen this before. Lol

He was super nice and shook everyone's hand.

Very sad to hear this as well as Baylor's passing today. I always dreaded those Phillies teams in the 90s being a Braves fan. RIP DD.

Bob, I didn't realize he lived in Clearwater until the article I read about his death today. Did he work for the Phillies there?
