Default Calling all Vintage autograph experts

Okay...been working with this customer for a while now, and I'll just keep to the facts.

We have a vintage autograph book from the 40s/50s or so..

There are 300 or so. The seller wants $1500 for this book. It belonged to his great grandpa and many sigs were acquired at spring training and games.

It is an overload of Autographs and I really just am having a tough time figuring how to sell everything if I purchase it. It's overwhelming a smidge.

I'm uploading roughly 30 pics over the day of what we're talking about here...Ted Williams, Joe DiMaggio, Jackie among a ton of others and plenty I don't know.

General comments are welcome but please no trolling, or lame comments like "fake" without explaining yourself. I want some real opinions from the BO community..

I realize this is a loaded thread I'm creating but anything constructive on this collection of autos would be helpful. Thanks!

Here we go...

It's nice but nowhere near $1500 nice, not enough BIG names. Plus check any auction house results of book pages signed like that, they go very low because of the jumbled look of signatures all over one side of a page. They display poorly as well. Really really cool item(I just like the thought of that book being handled by all those players and being loved by it's young owner all those years).

When you have it in your hands, you get quite excited, but then I thought how hard it is going to be able to sell. The names are jumbled, but there are some great names in there...

I would love to here opinions on what the gen pop would pay for an item like this?

No idea what to do with it but that's a nice 40s DiMaggio auto.

And the tight spacing tells me it's tough to turn into "cut" autos.

cut autos are going to be quite tough it looks like. too much overlapping and back to back on the same page possibly. this will more than likely have to be kept intact and sold as a "historical" piece and not as an "individual collection."

cool item that i would love to keep if my grandfather had done something like this. but that means it would have sentimental value. i wouldnt pay half of the 1500 ask. maybe 300 to 500 and even that feels high. the dimaggio auto is a fantastic specimen.

you could do some nice cut auto work on the bigger names or maybe even talk to a card company and sell to them to make cuts.

Joe D, Connie Mack, Joe Medwick, and Stan Musial are the big ones I see so far. Great piece, but I wouldn't use for cuts for all the reasons mentioned already.

And Red Scho......., Mel Allen, Phil Rizz, and others. I like it as an entire piece.

Plus Ted Williams.

And now Jackie Robinson above.

All it would take is 1 or 2 cuts of the big names to make the money back, unfortunately the big names dont look like they could be cut. Post it on Net 54forums and see what they say. Maybe there is a super rare auto of a nobody in there that is worth a ton.

Nice Larry Berra as well. I would say left together top money would be $650.00. Cuts maybe $1000.00 but a lot of work an thought before that first cut.
