Default I need help on a probable fake/custom Dansby Auto

I bought this in a big collection that had a bunch of Dansby stuff in it. I listed it on Ebay, sold it, then had it brought to my attention that it was fake. There's someone on Instagram, autograph4max, that had the exact same card and there's non on any checklist I've seen, or anywhere else online.

This card looks legit with the same design, except for the mini card looks a touch larger than normal. It has the Topps COA on the back, etc. Anyone connected with Topps on here? I assume the legality of this item is an issue if it is indeed a one off?

It's a custom.

The ink on both the front and the back look pretty light in multiple areas. Makes me wonder if someone scanned in a picture and printed their own. Plus there was never a Swanson card with Vanderbilt, or at least to my knowledge But that doesn't answer how they would have gotten a frame and put the thing inside of it. I dunno, this looks odd, but it would also be odd for someone to pick Swanson to try to fake instead of a bigger player

LoL, a guy on one of my facebook groups is the one that bought this card from you and is posting about it on there.

Bottom line, its not a Topps issued card and unless it was listed as a custom made aftermarket card, you should cancel the transaction for him.

Topps does not use College uniforms.

And since when does it say, "bearing the signature of etc.?"

The guy who made the custom was danmecum51 on here, he quit the forums a few years ago.

just one look at the autograph on there should tell everything you need to know about the card.

While it may technically be a "custom" I see it as one massive trademark infringement mess -- all those names and logos ...

Whoa, this goes a bit beyond custom in my book. Custom is your own card set of sorts or a modification of a current card like the people that take 8 of the same card and cut the player out and create a cool 3D sort of effect. This just looks like they did as much as they could to make it look like it's from an actual set by the original company.

There of tons of guys that do IP Autos that make their own cards, using templates of older card sets. I have a bunch of the templates that I used several years ago for guys.

Makes you wonder if anything else is fake in that collection you bought.
