I bought almost 20 cards from a seller in single auctions and I got them all, I checked and the seller forgot to send 1 of the cards, no problem, instant refund because they found the card at their home. I was in a rush so didn't check the cards too much but when I got home from a trip I was going through them and cataloging them. I saw that one of the cards had significant damage on them so I go to request a refund after messaging the seller about it. I opened a return thing on eBay but it's saying that "PayPal reports that a return should not be openedWe're sorry there's a problem with this purchase. Unfortunately, PayPal reports that we can't open a return for this item. You can try to work out this problem by contacting the seller." after I tried item arrived damaged, doesn't fit description, and is defective.
How is this possible? Am I doing something wrong? There are 18 cards total and I'm requesting a return on one of them.

You can typically only open one claim per transaction. sounds like you opened one earlier and were partially refunded then tried to open a second one for the same reason, you cannot do that..
Also there is no option to return just one of them. Unless the seller agrees otherwise its all or nothing.

Okay thanks. I didn't open a claim but he did just partially refund me the money on the whole lot for the value of the missing card. Makes a lot more sense now.
