View Full Version : Blowout Actually Raises Prices During Sales?

So I have been tracking a few products on Blowout since April, mostly football cases I was looking forward to buying one day and cracking... so the price is actually currently the highest since April for their "Labor Day" sale. While not up a lot over their regular sale price, they are higher on Labor Day than they are on regular sale!!! Anyone else notice this? It appears their competitors do the same ridiculous thing. Glad I kept track, now I know the deals aren't deals!

Also prices change due to the overall market, hot rookies, time of year, etc. April is the offseason, Labor Day weekend people are ready for football.

Whenever target does those buy 3, get a $5 gift card on items they raise their price too. In my picture they raised the price by .50 so in reality you're paying $1.50 more then the normal price to get a gift card which really only is a free $3.50 after all things considered. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180903/d2912463664994626a36daf80a6c79c8.jpg

But they have that Fantasy Flush Spot promotion on certain products, isn't that easily a $10 value?

What's funny is I actually had two boxes of Vertex football in my cart at $167 each, this weekend, I was thinking 6 hits, that's not bad for $167, that's a better value than a typical 3 hit per box product that runs $100-$150, but then I snapped out of it

Blowout is awesome, but great box deals have been lacking here for awhile now.
However, their Black Friday always rocks, and I should be saving money for that anyway.

I've been around for many of said Black Friday deals. I've come away with a different impression the last few years.

Not sure what you mean.
Example of my purchases a few years ago:
2014 Prizm $30/box current: $115/box
2013 Prizm $20/box current $60/box (this one sucks even for $20)
2015 Certified $50/box current $95/box
Last year not quite as good maybe, but still pretty nice....imo

2014 Prizm is a bad example. Due to the Carr and then Jimmy craze.

I just didn't think the deals were great. You can compare then to now if you want but compare today's prices with the prices this November and then get back to me.

Not sure what it is but I feel like wax the last couple of months has skyrocketed in price. It might be just me but that's just how I feel about the current wax prices.

I'm an OG. No social media. Just love card collecting, and forum is great for keeping up with trends, etc. I suppose for me this may be a substitute for Snapface.

This is a great example. Loved (and bought) a lot of this product way before Jimmy G hype.

I remember seeing where a lady sued Burger King—and won—because they raised the prices on bogo for sausage biscuits.

Agree the deals have been lacking recently. Especially last years Black Friday versus say... 3 years ago.

But that all has to do with the availability of products... A few years ago was the Golden Age of crappy yet decent now Panini products that didn't sell because they were crappy... like:
13-14 Titanium Basketball
14 Select Football

Neither of those products sold, because they were grossly overpriced, overproduced and had a lot of sticker Autos in them. So Blowout got most of the stock, and fire-sold most of them.

Products like that don't exist as much anymore. Maybe Chronicles Basketball from this year will be one of those products? Not sure, but we may be upon the precipice of another Golden-Age type of product dump soon. People seem to be tired of the over priced sticker garbo. Just keep track of the products that completely cannot be moved at their release point and you'll know what you have to look forward to.

Not as much as in the past, but there are still a few 2017 NBA that have already been slashed and will presumably be even more so for BF (certainly Chronicles + Ascension, Status, Prestige, & to a lesser extent Hoops and probably a few others). Also 2013 slowed waaay down towards the end of the season, and you will probably see some relatively decent deals return for that year.

As for non-NBA the amount of (other than Bowman Chrome & Heritage High) mid-late season released baseball with very little demand at full price is going to be staggering this year. Even with the great rookie class there will obviously be some very good BF baseball deals on secondary 2018 products.

Yeah-remember getting Pinnacle for $20-25...fun rip, but not at $60.
Think you may be right about baseball-got my eye on that too.

Quantity dependent I agree with you on 2013 NBA. As much as Giannis exploded he definitely has come down a little bit, and most products that have him have scarcely any cards of him that are desirable.

I am the biggest fan of Titanium and Giannis RCs in that I think are his best RCs period, but they don't yield a big return right now, and the only other Giannis cards you can pull in that product are his basic sticker Auto that is worth around $100.00 and falls usually 1 per master case or so. The asking price for this product is just way too high. It is fun, and warrants selling all day at a fair price but theres just no way to get the asking price back.

Agreed on all the 2017 NBA products you named, especially since Donovan Mitchell is absent in all of the good Chronicle RC sets besides Gala I think. Not having a Gold Standard or Titanium RC really hurt that one.

One product is 2007 Donruss Classics and the other is 2008 Leaf Limited. I get all retailers play games, just kind of turns me away from that retailer when I catch them, whether BO, Target, or Wal-Mart. I also understand as players get hot from older products they heat up. Again to raise it $5 for the 2007 for Labor Day weekend, and $75 for the 2008 Leaf Limited for Labor day isn't what I was expecting, the other site had Marvel Vibranium and jacked it up $100 for the Labor day sale. Again I understand retail, and I know they will stay in business with or without my money, just urks me. Moving on now!
