It is worth ~ $500 at most.

Seller wants $1K.

In the past I have been burned by overpaying for cards past but I guess I have not learned my lesson.

This is what my brain tells me. I doubt anybody will pay his asking price right now. What if he goes off the next few weeks? The price might be $2K which I will not pay.

Question you need to ask yourself is if this seller gets what he wants from someone else are you going to be disappointed that you didnt pay up? There are plenty of stories on here where someone was trying to pay what they felt was fair value for a card only for it to get sold to someone else. I know I have paid up a couple times for something I wanted for the PC or to finish a set. Ultimately I dont care I spent the money, if I didnt then I would still be searching for years trying to find similar ones to get listed. And then I would be kicking myself for just not paying a little bit more when I could have.

On a side note that seller shouldnt be allowed to sell on ebay. Writing 'non auto' in the title is pathetic.

Just wait and buy his Contenders rookie ticket auto. If he keeps playing well his rookie ticket auto will hold more value long term.
That 1/1 card will never bring what his rookie ticket auto will bring.
Now this all depends on how great he keeps playing and winning games.
He has to be the IT factor at winning big games consistently.
If not that 1 of 1 will be worth $20to $50 in the next year are so.

Listen, I LOVE Gardner Memeshew so so very much. He's already one of my favorite players of this millennium.

But he's a QB on a roster with some serious talent issues, especially if Ramsey ends up leaving. Let's say he does end up being the "Next Big Thing"—the timing here is horrible. In the short term, the Jags are playing the Broncos so he could get another boost and cause the seller to play hardball. But in the long term the Jags are still bad Vegas odds to make the playoffs. And playoff football is what usually determines QB value.

So even if he's an upcoming great, you'll want to wait until at least the playoffs start without the Jags or the offseason before going around picking up 1/1s.......unless you just have that kind of money to throw around.

Or better yet, save the money for when Prizm silvers arrive. You'll have a better sample size of Minshew's work, you'll pay less, and most collectors would probably rather a Prizm silver (if they're as scarce as last season) than a low-tier product 1/1.

Absolutely do not pay $1K for an Elite non Auto 1/1 of a Rookie QB that is still a prospect. When you are Prospecting a card like this, PC or not $1K plus should get you a Rookie 1/1 from a major brand that is an Auto. No, no way!

As a reference, the Baker 1/1 elite was available for about $600 or so about 8 weeks into the season last year. After Prizm comes out no one cares about this card unfortunately, but they are nice. The Prizm overload will be even worse this year after what is happening with you know who.

Theres about eight 1/1's of Gardner on ebay right this minute.

Personally, I would wait. We are looking at a nice run of games in terms if winnable fixtures, so I dont see the hype train slowing short term, but there are so many products and 1/1 popping up that I dont see the value rising massively.

For what he is asking you could get the certified auto 1/1 and the gold standard non auto [emoji2369]

If you enjoy the card though, it is worth whatever it is worth to you. If it is an investment than maybe it is different.

“Must have”....you are the first mega Jags fan I have ever met, otherwise you are trying to invest in Minshew at the worst time.

I have zero clue what a /1 rookie is worth, but 1k for a guy I just heard of sounds like a stretch. I also have no clue what modern sets are “high end” or even what difference that makes in a 1 of 1 card. But again, 1k seems crazy high for Minshew.

Maybe wait until he has a terrible game or two, then swoop in. With how fickle the football market is, the seller just might panic and take your lower offer. If he turns out to be the real deal I suppose you will be the one laughing if you do pick it up. I really hope the card doesn’t pop up on a “returned card” thread if/when Minshew chokes and Foles returns from injury.

The highest price non-auto sold for $105 and that was a /5. Not sure I count the XR /1 that sold for $300 since the same seller of this card bought that one too.

For those that believe in market value I would have blown the market value out of the water.

If you want it and you're a collector and you have to have it, go for it. It's not worth $1000 to any of us (except maybe the guy dropping money on RB cards in 2019), but it doesn't matter what we think it's worth if you never plan on selling it again. If you plan on purchasing it with intent to sell it for more in the future, $1000 seems like a bad bet, but none of us know the future so you still could luck out. I'd just bet against it.
