Anybody know Coinsportscollecting on EBay?

Not even 100% sure what to make of this, but the guy clearly doesn’t understand how a unpaid item case works. I have hundreds of cards for sale each month so I have my unpaid item cases automatically opened after 48 hours and closed after another 48 hours. IMO this is plenty of time to pay for the item you won, or get it contact with me as numerous buyers do. Anybody else ever run into this kind of thing?

Maybe he shouldn’t be buying cards if he has to go to his bank in order to make a purchase.

Just explain it to them. BTW, eBay will only close the case after 4 days. You can't change that. So in effect, buyers get six days to pay no matter what. There's no mark against the account if they pay within those six days.

I've had a few messages like this. I either ignore them or explain if they had contacted me to let me know they'd be paying in a day or two I would have shut off the NPB.
Communication works both ways.
Some people are dumb.

My worry with dealing with a lunatic like this is that they are going to damage the card upon arrival and demand a refund.

If you are continuously running auctions that end every day or most days, it's best to set your unpaid item window to greater than 48 hours.

That being said, this guy is way off base with his response.

2 Days is quick if you offer a shipping discount and always have auctions ending - of course people will buy multiple to save on shipping. Give a bigger window to buy or put your payment terms in your listings if it's not in there.

Edit: After looking at the listing you offer combined shipping for auctions that end within 24 hours of each other but your auctions end every 48 hours according to your sold history :doh:

Weighing here with a little perspective as a new eBay user -- I was unaware that there was even a feature for automatically initiating these claims/processes, so obviously the first time I got a notice while bidding in the seller's other auctions, I naturally thought it was something the seller did on his/her own. So, I reached out and found out it was auto, and the seller was more than willing to wait while I did the other auctions. And from then on I was sure to proactively let sellers know that I was participating in other auctions of theirs and I would pay when they were all done. No issues whatsoever since.

So, as you said -- communication works both ways. Maybe this buyer is totally unaware that these can be auto-initiated. I would bet that if that is the case, informing him can go a long way. Just as informing every buyer that this is your policy can go a long way. Seems to me that sellers putting notice of this in sales descriptions is an effective way to communicate, especially since they have to activate this feature and doing so differentiates them from other sellers and the default way of doing business on eBay.

Considering others' perspectives is key to life.

I had a card sell for $125.00 last Sunday and have yet to hear a peep from the winning bidder. Invoice sent right after auction ending, reminder sent last night. Still haven't heard a peep. Just a quick message saying "hey I'll pay for this auction on Friday" and I'm a happy camper.
Doesn't seem like that's asking too much.

well said. I totally agree. If you need to wait till pay day, wait for other auctions to end, just tell me. Don't ignore the messages like an ass and leave me wondering what you're up too.

The card was $12.50 (plus $3.50 shipping and whatever the buyer's state charges in sales tax).

He had to go to his bank so he could make that payment.
