Front and Back of the Card

I used to collect Magic the Gathering cards when I was in high school. I would buy singles on ebay. What annoyed me was the seller would only post the front of the card. I would have to ask the seller to post a picture of the back of the card. Even if the card was only $50, I want to see the exact card that I was buying with my hard earned money.

Fast forward to now...when people throw thousands of dollar on a sports card. I am amazed how many sellers still do not post the the back of the card. Even if it is a PSA 10, the centering of the back of the card could still be off. Would you buy a car or a house without looking at the interior?

So please post a picture of the front and back of the card.

I'm not really a condition sensitive collector. Back photos aren't something I really look for unless theirs additional autos.

it's called being lazy. If a seller only shows the front of the card, that tell me they are hiding something and I automatically skip through it.

I don't see the need to take a picture of the back of a PSA 10 card. Unless the serial number is on the back.

How much extra time does it take to post the back of the card?

Transparency is important in any sale. It is good for both the seller and the buyer. If the seller did not post the back of the card, the buyer could potentially return the card because the buyer does not like the back of the card after receiving it in the mail.

Twice as much time?

I normally skip the back unless it’s a higher end card or has a serial number on there. If someone wants a back scan they can request it.

Not all PSA 10s are the same. I passed on 10-15 PSA 10 1987 Fleer Ron Harper RC before buying one I thought actually warranted the grade.

Most collectors are only going to pay for the premium of a graded card if they agree with the grade. Investors don't really care as the grade is more the commodity than the card. It's a game of knowing your audience. If you have an obscure player and you are trying to target a player collector or a set collector, your PSA 10 is going to be judged very closely. If you have a rube who is just looking for an investment flip on a potential or hyped player,the only thing that matters is probably the grade... just take a pic of the label and leave the card out of the pics.

Every time I've bought a graded card without the back pictured on the auction, the back of the card looks like trash. Every time I regret the purchase. Won't happen again.

This is the sad reality for lots of "collectors" right now. Someone needs to setup a card site where you just browse and buy labels.

Not all 10’s are the same. On high dollar cards I’d for sure need to see a solid pic of the centering to get comfortable. It’s the one thing you can validate through pics...corners surface edges not so much.

Front and back common sense. Biggest offenders are giant liquidation type sellers who mass-scan.
