Last season we used the Carmelo/Portland Trailblazers thread for Melo game talk and such. Figured I’d start an official thread to use going forward.. there’s enough of us who collect him and he’s a future hall of famer! If 2nd round draft picks who play 5 minutes per game can get their own thread, then Melo certainly deserves his own :)

Use this for Melo discussion, game talk, card showoffs, etc.. I’ll post some of mine in a bit!

Also... where do we want Melo to sign this season? Looks like the Blazers are going in a different direction after their recent acquisitions. Hearing rumors of a Knicks reunion.. not sure how to feel about this.

Personally wouldn't mind him re-signing with the Blazers on a team with added depth over the offseason. He's clearly shown that he still has some gas in the tank, but I don't believe that he should head to the Knicks when he can be a contributor on a playoff team pursuing a championship.

I don't think Melo wants any part to do with Da'Antoni. I am sure he was the one reason he left Houston. I just would like to see Melo get a chance on getting a Championship added to his Hof career. Just saying.

Here’s a fun one for today. From 18-19 Certified.

Back states that the jersey was used while he was on the Knicks, but he’s in Thunder uniform, and it’s technically a Rockets card (logo on the bottom left).. ;cry: LOL. But.. it is /5 and I picked it up in auction for like $5-6.. I’ll take it!

2018-19 Crown Royale Pacific Marquee SSP.. I think these were a case hit (might be wrong) but either way a dope looking ssp insert. I think this set is so underrated.

This set me back a whopping $4 within the first week of the product release. Man, how times have changed!

This was the first non rookie card of Melo that I bought after coming back to basketball collecting in late 2017. Contenders Cracked Ice HOF Contenders /25. I remember picking it up for like $7 and thinking to myself how cheap basketball cards were compared to baseball cards of the same caliber players/rarity/etc as I had collected baseball cards for years before getting back into nba cards. I guess over time everyone else started to realize how undervalued basketball cards were too. Carmelo especially.

As a side: Man, I was so hyped about Melo joining up on the Thunder with Westbrook and PG.. I enjoyed watching them play throughout that season and there were points during that year I thought they could win the nba finals. Once Roberson went down, everything fell apart for them defensively and they ended in a mess in that first round series. But as a fan that probably watched all but 5 or so of the Thunder’s games that season, there are some fond memories, despite the way the media tries to make things out to be.

Melo now 10 points away from passing Elvjn Hayes to move into 10th on the all time scoring leaderboard. He’ll get it tonight against ATL!

He’s also now 106 points away from moving into 9th place and passing Moses Malone. With 8 games left, he’ll need to average 13.3 points per game, right around his season average.

Oh man that’s badass right there! Very nice. Classics is an underrated panini brand and that year is my favorite for rookie autos of Curry, Harden, and Blake Griffin.

Checked the total career NBA (regular season) points of 'Melo and had a sigh of "so close, yet so far away", regarding the possibility of him reaching 30,000 points.

These are my only two 'Melo cards, both autograph cards and in Knicks uniform only.
Definitely prefer his "full" autograph over the "CA" or "Stay Melo".

I do think he will end up getting to 30k. Something tells me he’s gonna play until he gets it.

And I’m with you. It was just the hype around him coming to NY and once he did it out him in the national spotlight to the point where it solidified his popularity with nba fans. He was a hall of famer before that. But the NY hype took him to another level!
