I am finally redemption-free. Cleared out the few I had with Panini & Topps years ago and just received the last one I had with UD. Only took them 5 1/2 years to get it made.
- August 2015 I pull a redemption out of 2014-15 UD Premier for a Sidney Crosby Super Rookie Patch Auto /25. They look like nice cards & as a Pens collector of course I redeem it.
- Last year I decide to call for a replacement, 4 1/2 yrs seemed long enough to wait. But before I call them, I receive an unsolicited replacement from them.
- The replacement is a 2011 Goodwin Champions Wayne Gretzky auto. Normally a Gretzky auto would be nice, but it's one of the ugliest cards I've seen and was in no way a fair replacement. So I decide to call and ask them to replace the replacement... :(
- Before I call them on it, they contact me to say that the Crosby card is being made and if I want it I just have to return the Gretzky. They also promise to sent me an additional card to reimburse for shipping. I agree... happy to hear the Crosby is done.
- But the Crosby wasn't done. After a few months I contacted them and was told it was being made. This was annoying because they made it sound like was done and ready to be shipped. But ok, I'll remain patient.
- A few months later, Oct 2020, I contact them again. They tell me it was sent to Crosby "3 weeks ago" and should be back shortly and on it's way out. Again, nothing.
- I contact them last month and ask if the Crosby is returned... and if not, that I'd like a fair replacement. No response from them.
- Finally, I call last week and get a new person. He tells me it's made, it's signed, it's back and it will be shipped (last friday) and I'd receive it this week. And I did!!!
- In fact, I received 2 of them!
Was the 2nd one to reimburse me as promised? Was it to thank me for my 5 1/2 year wait? Doubt it. After a few minutes I realized what I think happened. They arrived in 2 separate FedEx packages. Before opening I assume one was the Crosby and they must have forgot to add something so sent it separately. But what I found is 2 different reference numbers. One looks like it was the original redemption and the other the case opened to replace the Gretzky.
So if that's the case they made a mistake. And of course they didn't add any additional card as they promised, which isn't cool. Of course my conscience says I have to let them know they made a mistake. But I think I'll wait for them to reimburse me with something before sending... I'm guessing something will arrive sooner, and will be nicer, if they want something from me instead of forcing me to wait on them yet again. I think that's fair... but tell me if I'm wrong.
Sorry that's so long... just wanted to share my 5 1/2 year wait.
