Those seem like really great pulls from 3 boxes! I like the value even when you don't hit a relic or Auto. Seeing 2 /25s hit in the 4 boxes opened so far, I like the chances of hitting a 1/1 from this stuff.

Bummer on a box with 1, but you're still ahead of the game with 7 in 3 boxes I suppose.

Appreciate it! Unsure how I did from a value perspective but I don't follow the GPK market at all.

Just gonna set aside a complete base set + Tribute to East Bay insert set (and maybe a couple other inserts if I'm close enough), decide on what parallels to keep (if any), and list the rest (as well as help others with set needs).

Not necessarily true. I remember one of my Ohtani 50/50 boxes yielded 4 numbered cards which included 2 gold refractors /50 along with 2 base refractors one of which was HR #50. Suffice to say we went to Sizzlers that night.

In the Ohtani 50/50 case that was because there were a lot of boxes that had no numbered hits. They may have said they would be in there but they weren't. Your box was an extreme outlier.

The crumpled parallels are awesome looking. Way more eye appeal than the colored bordered cards. Definitely want an East Bay set. That Mt Diablo card reminds me of my childhood in Danville, CA.

I think in this case it is a collation issue rather than a missing hit issue.

His two boxes had 4 numbered parallels and 3 numbered parallels respectively.

His boxes had zero of the insert set "Tribute to the East Bay" which are not guaranteed whereas AK's had 2 of those insert cards per box.

When I calculated ~1800 cases, that didn't account for Topps holding back 10% for defects and replacements, which is the common percentage they hold back. If in addition to that, we change the assumed number of numbered hits per box from 2 to 3, we get a hair over 1k cases.

I'm really looking forward to seeing some case breaks to see how the autos and relics fall. That guitar string relic was outstanding.

Fully agreed, the crumpled parallels are incredible (especially in-hand)!! The East Bay set will be easy to complete since they're not rare, which is awesome because they're so cool.

Yeah, that was my mistake. Assumed they were guaranteed when they're not.

There's definitely some collation issues. Once organizing my cards into a binder, I noticed a lot of (at least) 3 card patterns (vast majority of those 3-card patterns were sequential ones, like, 1-2-3, 4-5-6, etc, although not presenting in that exact order).

Because there's at least some 1-numbered box hits (I had 2), I think it's one of those 2 numbered cards (on average) per box instances.

IIRC, I hit 15 numbered boxes across 7 boxes (2.14 per box).

Although unsure, I'd like to assume that most are live because most are sticker autos.

From a logical standpoint, I can't see the hold-up unless they weren't able to get the stickers back in time (but assume it's easier to get those back then sending out cards to have signed on-card).

I had the same question given the Topps reel yesterday of the relic guitar strings. It was in the sort of holder you might get a redemption from Topps on, so I was curious if the relics / autos were live or not.

Wouldn't be surprised if the relic autos are redemptions (being that they're the main chase hits) but can see a lot of the standard card sticker autos being live.

Packaging has redemption language right on the front, and the cards are pretty thick. Would be very surprised if the guitar string card wasn't a redemption.

I had a dream once about a guitar string Pink Floyd card that had all 6 strings and the window was the whole width of the card and the strings were exposed and tensioned so you could actually pluck strings that David Gilmour had played.

Holy crap, I'm tired BUT I ended up ripping the case a couple hours ago!

I didn't hit any auto/relic but I did hit a lot of cool cards. Listed a bunch of them on eBay (including insert sets) to help recoup some funds. Already sold some, including a Dookie /99 for $80.

I completed all the base/insert sets except for the short prints (e.g., American Idiot and Standing Room Only). Unsure if I'll chase the SPs, probably not, but I'm still very satisfied with the base/other insert sets. Already penny sleeved them and put them into a binder. Also completed an entire green set but unsure if I want to keep or sell so will list high on eBay with OBO for now and see what offers trickle in (if any).

Time to sleep.

With the serial #'d cards per box, if they actually have Autos and relics .... the combination of the two couldn't have realistically came out to less than 1 in every couple of cases... unless they are literally all short printed to 10-25 or less.

Because you can get them cheaper elsewhere. But I agree with you... I'm still into them just cannot get down on another case.

I actually still think it's one of the best products I've seen Topps put out in a long while. If a relic or auto (either) were 1 per case I think it would be an absolute home run. Easy to say now that it doesn't seem to be the case... but it goes from me wanting to open my cases to get one, to looking at the secondary market to pick one up. But the rest of the set is fire.

I hope you pull a 1/1 Auto!

I love that Topps documented that the drum came from The Saviors tour. Still no odds yet. Interested to see how many of these were made. Would 100 be too many?

Welp, it looks the print run will be astronomical on this product. I ignored the warning signs, scrolled through the Topps website late at night (I'm an insomniac), and purchased not uno!, but dos! cases of a product that now appears to be dookie. My bank account has gone kerplunk, and I feel like a nimrod -- a real American idiot. My only hope is to pull a triple auto of BJ, Mike, and Tre! They would be my saviors to avoid a 21st century breakdown.

The shiny card might be the "crumpled" parallel (unnumbered right)? Those are actually quite rare and supposedly demanded (at least from another GPK product).

Not stupid at all, they are quite a bit more rare than the gold crumpled /50 but seemingly less rare than a red foil

I think the print run is around 16 or so if they are seeded like 40th but they might be tougher in this release

I've never opened GPK before but learned a lot from other helpful BO members and from ripping my boxes.

GPK, at least the Green Day set, is a pretty fun product to open.

Yeah, I think I did well on the color of the numbered cards (particularly red). Also hit gold crumpled cards of some cards that I'm particularly interested in (e.g., Fairy Land, Frye Liner, etc), so although listed on eBay (in case a crazy offer comes in), those will be the ones (along with the unnumbered crumpled Blood Sucking Billie) that I'll keep in the PC once I recoup most/all of initial cost.

I listed nearly 250 cards (still going) and the sales are pouring on (mostly on unnumbered stuff but at good price-points so I'm not complaining at all).

The crumpled I thought for a moment might be a 1/1 but it was a /50 of an Album cover. Crumpled will be PC.

Topps may replace this (if you want) given that damage - I have had a couple of 1/1s replaced by them.

It is a great "signature" pull in any case!

Couple of quick updates:
- In a wild of wilds - somehow my last case had 10 unnumbered crumpled foil in addition the expected 2 per box. Guess it makes up for my crappy case. I had only gotten one previously.
- My lowest number across 2 cases was Orange /25, while my 10 boxes yielded 2 Black Shimmer /10s.
- i did contact Topps about my 1st case with all the "missing" hits, they responded that there is no guarantees with the product and insisted their product pages never said 2 were guaranteed. They did say they would make good on the 6 packs that only had 4 cards in them, so that's at least something.

Mine was the same, 6004. Given this product was on the shelf for a year - wonder if they initially planned hobby / mega, or mega / blaster or some sort other configuration before it was finally settled and produced?

Either that or the 6005s have autos and the relics, and the 6004s didn't. :D

If they're glossy rub them down with baby powder before signing. I've never had a problem with ink bubbling on the glossiest cards by doing this.

Hmmm...You do have to wonder. Why else would there be two numbers? I suppose different configurations could be possible. I'm not familiar enough with the process of the FGC numbers. Can anyone else shed any light on this? I really hope these aren't shipped in waves or that hits come down to which FGC # a person receives.

It’s interesting to see cases on eBay with live pictures all show the first FGS/SKU marked. Only ones with the second one marked are stock photos. Wondering if there’s anything to this. It can’t be due to box configuration. They both show the same box types 20/10.

After a couple more messages he told me he wanted 4K for it. I inquired about one of the corners on the back of card. The listing oddly shows the same 3 corners over & over except for 1. I inquired about the condition of the corners but he wouldn’t respond so I just stopped thinking about buying it.

I prefer the Billie Joe Armstrong #1/1 auto relic over the triple auto #/5.

BJA is like the MJ of the group (other 2 being Pippen and Rodman). Not to mention, the former is a #1/1 foilfractor and has a tour-used relic. There's no alternatives for the former whereas there's 4 other copies for the latter.

Haha, you and me both. I hit the message seller button a couple times but felt like I was rushing it and wanted to give it some more thought (which I finally had once my wife took over watch of the kids, but by then, it was too late). With #1/1s, I don't particularly care for condition unless it's creased or something (I'm OK with PSA/BGS 7 equivalents, anything lower, and it'd probably depend on the exact flaw).

Triple Relic Auto showed up. Single relic Autos are still my favorite cards by far.

Something is up with the distribution of this as theres been 2 of the best cards (if not the 2 best cards) in the entire product that have shown up... both 1/1s, and a /5 triple auto surfaced, yet zero /25 triples and only 2 single GPK autos?

Not doubting the /25s are out there and that more of the single GPK autos will continue to show up... but this is weird.

Ok, I finally got a chance to break my 10 loose boxes. The pic shows the highlights. I didn't quite finish a base set or complete all of the inserts, which was a bummer.

Interestingly enough, I had two separate orders. A 6 box order, which was my first, then a 4 box order which I ordered much later. The 4 box order was much better than the 6 boxes, and had the same amount of hits, plus both of the American Idiot SPs.

Certainly a lame tactic by Topps/Fanatics to omit auto odds though. Pretty sure they intentionally did that to deceive prospective buyers into thinking auto odds were significantly better than they actually were. At least it came at a cheap cost and rips were still fun and decent value relative to other (primarily sports) Topps/Fanatics products.

1564.5 cases
31290 boxes

My math below:

(3129 packs)*(100 base cards) = 312900 packs

10 packs per box => (312900/10) => 31290 boxes

20 boxes per case => (31290/20) => 1564.5

What's 6004-SE and 6005-EA mean on odds?

I was curious myself and here's what I found via Google AI:

The main difference between Topps EA and SE products is the retail channel they are sold through. This difference can result in slightly varying pack odds or exclusive inserts, but the base cards are generally the same.

Distributor channel

EA (Electronic Arts): Despite the "EA" acronym, this designation refers to products sold at Target stores, not the video game company. In some cases, it also covers products sold through Meijer.

SE (Sports Entertainment): This designation is for products sold at Walmart stores.

As someone mentioned earlier, these "mega boxes" were probably supposed to be distributed via retail chains (in addition to the usual Topps.com/Fanatics.com drops), but eventually such plans were scrapped.

Thanks for the numbers. That is absolutely absurd. But IMO it's a very good thing that they are that short printed. It'll certainly help them retain strong values going forward.

Single Autos (non relic) are 1:2668 packs, so to get a Single is roughly 1 in 13.34 cases.

Just some very simple rough math to add also. There are no odds for the 1/1s because in theory it should be based on the overall print run, and I guess they don't want to give exact #s since some product is held back for replacements and such... Could be one of the 1/1s didn't actually pack out.

But there are #s for the American Idiot #'d out of 5 which is 1:63,345. Times 5 you get 316,725. Divided by 200 for the amount of packs in a case, 1583.625. That's effectively how many cases were packed out.

All in all it definitely wasn't printed to the moon to say the least. Top hits are hard to hit, but also very rare... and a limited enough supply of product. Topps did well.

I couldn't imagine paying thousands for a triple sticker auto GPK card (What's the connection even to the band? Are they known for being big GPK fans?) instead of $150 for a triple signed PSA encapsulated CD.

A signed vinyl would display better than a CD, but a signed CD of a band seems cooler than a signed trading card.

Imagine selling modern junk 9.8 comic books for markup, which are no better than ungraded on average, and not understanding that people collect cards... You could literally say this about any signed memorabilia item compared to any rare or expensive card on the market. There are much better examples. The gap on these would be on the smaller scale.

A search on ebay for "green day signed CD PSA" shows 121 listings. You cant compare that to a card from a brand new releases that they only made one of.

The odds say that amongst the 6 variations, there is an average of 7 total copies made for each... but like you said, the Tre Drum Relic is clearly the most common, and it also seems Tre Relic Autos are the same.

If I had to guess, your Billie is roughly 3 made.. Thinking the Tres make up ~10-15 or so of the 21 total copies for the trio for each variant. The pick should be the rarer version of the Billies. Guessing the strings are 5-6 or so total copies.

Yeah, that's probably the way to go. I had no hopes of getting a card like this from 2 boxes, but I did want at least a selection of the regular base and chase at which point I'd decide if I wanted to pick up a full set of those. I agree with Bruin7. Although I enjoyed ripping my boxes and putting together a few sets for the PC, return on what I didn't need has been weak.

I also thought I had a realistic shot at some autos/relics too (not the case).

Best to just pick singles or sets on the secondary market and call it a day.
