Well, it has been a while since I really worked on keeping my old thread up on here, so I figured I would show off my current NFL HOF Autograph PC. Well, nothing new today, but got a few pieces while I was at work for 40 hours the two days before. lol

Well, another day, another load of HOFers and future HOFers. lol. Expect quite a few updates this week as I have quite a bit coming in.

We'll start off with Baseball...? Yes Baseball...Why? Because I used to own this exact card...and sold it to help pay for a Walter Payton on card auto...and I just got it back from my friend for a little cash and silver:

Now then...moving on to football...we will start out with the most expensive card in this mailday...and it's a future HOFer. He's only recently started signing more, but this is, by far, his best autograph out there, that I know of:

Very happy to pick up that last guy! Been after him for ages...and been keeping in touch with a seller on ebay as I knew he had a full signature Earl "Dutch" Clark and finally bought it. And he even has another HOFer on hold for me. Being friendly is a good thing! lol

Wow!! Great collection, I'm also working on the HOF as well, but trying to get the rookie cards instead of what you're going for. Collecting HOFers will never get boring as there will always be more of them and you can always pass them on to your kid(s) or someone else in the future to continue it!! Good luck!!

Thanks, man! Been a long project so far and certainly only going to get harder, but half the fun is finding what you need. I am looking at RCs now and then, but not pushing hard for them...even including my first good pick-up today.

Just two new little additions. There are a few other cards that could be included, but these are pretty much the main two:

First off...a very nice Future HOFer. I ended up snagging a second one for a good deal, so one of these might be available...but only for other future HOFers and current HOFers:

Been a while since I have posted anything...got 3 new additions...two upgrades and one possible future. I have more incoming of course.

First, a nice cut of Flaherty...unsure yet which one I am officially going to make my PC piece, but right now leaning towards this one:

Well, got 3 cards in...but only 2 go here...and even one of those is iffy. lol. But the one that belongs here is one I've been after for a looong time.

I'll start off with a long shot for the HOF. He has been nominated this year, but not sure he'll really make it...at least not for quite a long time. Not with so many WR that should be in still sitting on the outside looking in:

Then...there is this guy. His autos have become more and more rare as it seems people are hanging onto him more (not to mention people over-valuing it.) Glad I was finally able to snag one...and for right around the price they should go for...not the 300-400 people thought they should get for it:

Well, that does help narrow it down. lol. I know all the ones you need are still on my need list as well, so that crosses those off. And I only have around 40-some left. So I can probably make a few guesses, but I'll be a good boy and wait and see. Sounds like I'll have to do some selling soon. :)!

Ya, it's one I haven't shown off before, or even scanned in yet. I'm hoping my double comes in soon and then there's a couple things I need to do, and make sure PSA/DNA certifies my incoming one first before I make this one available. So it'll probably be after the new year before it's said and done....but it'll be worth the wait.

Well, I was finally able to snag one of these for my Panini HOF On Card Autograph set. This leaves me with just Faulk and Dent to go. Been harder to do this set this year. Don't know if it's the print run (or lack of information on the print run)...or even that the set has caught on, but been much more expensive this year too, though I have gotten lucky on a few. Would have gotten it a little cheaper, but was actually bidding against a guy in my area. lol.

Heeey yooou guys! lol. Anyhow, been a little since my last post...and sadly probably be one of my last for a little while to say the least. The new car payment is eating up my card budget, so less and less new HOFers for me. But at least now I can get to work in one piece. Hahaha!

Anyhow...two new pieces folks...the first is the next to last one I need for my Panini on-card HOF Autograph set for this year. Only one I need at this point. If you have or see a Richard Dent, let me know! I definitely want to complete it as soon as I can.

And finally...#251 is back in hand! Leaf came through for me, re-encasing my Tom Landry for $10. Big thanks to Bryan at Leaf for getting back to me so quickly and for helping me resolve a small problem on ebay without much hastle at all. About time for another update. It's been a while, but I've been saving up my money for a big one...which I am still selling a few things to top off the money I have, but in the mean time...it's time for the new HOF Class. I had 3 of the 6, though of course I will be looking for all 6 of these guys once the Panini set comes out, plus GU/Autos of some of these guys, of course. Also, I was able to snag one of the current HOFers that I've been after for a while.

He doesn't have any certified autos . PSA/DNA is your best bet. I have an extra Dawson and Jack Butler currently being slabbed (both cards) if anyone needs one.

None...yet. lol. The only person that worries me in this class is Jack Butler as I'm not sure how his health is at this point.

Though after looking around, looks like he's in pretty decent shape!

Chris Doleman does have some certified autos from back in the day....from the proline set...this is actually the first autod card I have ever owned in my life....my dad gave it to me when I was a little kid...there are usually a few on ebay...but they have went up almost 5x since he went into the HOF..btw man...I always keep an eye on this thread...Your PC is my favorite one I have ever seen man...I hope you get to finish it soon!

Always nice to know people are looking. It hasn't been easy to get half of what I've got, especially money-wise and it's only getting worse now. lol.

I was looking at Doleman's stuff before he made it, but I figured with Panini releasing on card autos of each person who makes it every year now, I am better off waiting unless they have a GU/Auto because the Panini set is really a separate set for me unless it's their only autograph (see Ed Sabol. lol)
Part of why I picked up Roaf is because he had a GU/Auto and it's on card. HUGE plus for me, but I will still pick up his Panini auto for my set.

Now is pretty much the worst time to try and pick up these guys because everyone is clambering to get them and if I am patient, I can get the Panini on cards for about what these ProLines are going for. Heck, Dent started out at 200+, now he's down around 30-40. I paid a bit more than that, but not a whole lot more, so I can't complain.

Wish you the best of luck in your collection and if you ever see anything in my Extra HOF Bucket you need, they are always for sale/trade. Right now just for sale though as someone is getting all my sale money *coughs*raiderguy*coughs*.

haha yea...I dont have the budget I wish I did...but I still prefer nice looking cards to just getting the cheapest one I can find...I usually go after Sticker/jersey combos haha...they can be found in my range...its hard to buy hofers off ebay a lot of times bc some sellers demand a kings ransom on them...but I did find a few extras I could use...I sent you a PM about it....ill leave some pics of the 2 HOF pickups I made over the weekend to give u an idea of the range of stuff I am looking for and if u happen to have any or run into any deals...I am probably your buyer :) haha

Been keeping my purchasing to a minimum as of late since I am still in line to purchase a rare HOFer, but did pick up these two lately. One is a long shot at the HOF, but nab them while they are alive and before the HOF...worth it to save the money and unlikely they will drop. The other is an old time HOFer, but an upgrade from a Razor/Leaf cut, which will now be for sale. lol.

Thanks! It's one of his only 3 out there so far. I'm sure more will pop up, but this is a very nice autograph. (Which he has two different styles of autos as I've learned...this being more his racing auto.)

This is what the checks look like that the cuts were made out of. They are Packer payroll checks for the most part. The Packers required 2 signers on their checks (like they should for internal control purposes). The other signer is Dominic Olejniczak - President of the Packers and mayor of GB when Lombardi was there (remember the Packers are owned by the people - the mayor was the President). He was the longest tenured President, and is in the Packer HOF as well. He is also the main reason the Packers plucked Lombardi from the Giants. Packer fans have two great signature that are present on these checks. My check was made out to Lombardi's personal equipment manager. It'd be interesting to note who these were all made out to that were cut up. I'm sure a few Starr/Nitschke/Henry Jordan autos were on the reverse side of these checks.

Some things to keep in mind with these cuts:

1) They aren't that rare by any means. UD produced 227 one year alone, and they are still showing up. We can thank a lady naed Ruth from the Packers 10-15 years ago who saved these checks from being destroyed. Lombardi autos - especially if there would be a cut auto from a card company would be outrageously priced without her.

2) These specimens are VERY HARD to find with a full signature. Most of the cuts have Lombardi's auto cutoff - either the V in Vince or the i in Lombardi. Or some other part of it.

3) Bank cancellation stamps on the reverse side bleed through like they do on the check I own. That makes clean signatures hard to find as well.

4) Getting a full Dominic signature in the window (which I believe this card does have) is nearly impossible because of the way he signs. For whatever reason it looks like he compressed his signature on this cut. It's the only one I've seen with 2 complete signatures in the window - which can/should command a premium for it.

It's a gorgeous card. Glad you were able to score it!

Not sure who the other signer is here. Most of the cuts are from checks of Bert Bell where he signs like below. I've never seen one made from whatever document yours came from. I'd need to know what document it was from.

Only difference is the set...and that there's a bit of stitching. It was one of those price deals you couldn't pass up...plus I liked it a little better than my old one. Okay...BIG update time. First off, let me say the extras I picked up are available except for the Bradshaw. That is on hold for a long standing trade I have been working on. The Irving does have a bit of bubbling in the auto, but looks nice otherwise. Certainly in no rush to move my extras, but it was a nice lot that I couldn't pass up, really.

Now...as for what you are about to see...it has been a battle with my own desires for my PC to start collecting PSA/DNA pieces. After much consideration (and seeing an auto that broke $1000 when it definitely shouldn't have), I have decided to allow PSA/DNA pieces into my NFL HOF PC! I see it this way...regardless, the autograph is authentic. The person signed it, therefore I have their autograph. It's more cost effective and a great way to find some of those harder to find autographs. Now..that being said, if I can upgrade to a card, I will, but I am not going to overpay for stuff if I already have their autograph.

A few of these I picked up from a very reputable dealer on ebay that did not have them authenticated, but trust them enough to buy uncertified to send in myself, which I will be doing next week as the order has to be postmarked by the 31st.

I've been after one of them for AGES. They usually sold like crazy, even with cut off autos and the shoe pieces were even nicer than mine, but had to get one with a very clean auto at least.

Alright, I know it's been a while, but it's time for an update. I'll start things off with a potential future HOFer. Of course, there are no guarantees outside a few players, but never hurts to get an autograph of someone that even has an outside chance:

Now...not really a GU or auto...but I have loved this set since it came out. Can't count how many boxes I opened to try and pull one of ANY player. Never did...but was able to buy this beauty:

Next...we'll go with 3 upgrades. First...we have a Langer. I had a Rox Mix Art card...and that's what this is cut from, but I still have my art card too:

Next is a very slight upgrade. It almost looks exactly the same, but has a slight stripe of a 3rd color...so it's still an improvement:

This last one...it's a gamble. It's hard to see, but underneath is an autograph of Steve Owen. It's not authenticated, but does look pretty good. Unfortunately, looks like someone used a permanent marker to mark it out. I don't know why...and I have been trying to contact a book restorer, but they haven't gotten back to me, so it's not sounding good like it can be restored...but I haven't given up. Even if not...the price on it was one that I couldn't pass up (I am not marking this as part of my official PC yet...so still looking for Owen):

Good evening, everyone! I have finally made it to 246! I couldn't quite afford #247 right now, but happy with picking up one of the hardest to find NFL HOFers. Not the most beautiful thing in the world, but sometimes you go with what you can get. Also got a nice upgrade as well...have a look:

Been quite a while since I've posted...and since I have, I've picked up a few nice pieces, including 3 new HOFers to my PC! Puts me up to 249 of the 273 current members and hoping to find #250 before the new inductees are announced.

First, a bit of an upgrade...not sure if I will just keep this as a extra that's not for trade or mark it as the real piece for my PC, but it's a nice piece nonetheless.

The other is a permanent PC piece. It is not just for my HOF set, but also for my 06 NT HOF Greatness set. I have one like this, but this is the 1/1 Prime version. Nobody new, but a few upgrades. Probably the next mail, though, will cause the number to rise fairly quickly.

First, a very nice little upgrade with the help of ebay bucks. Ended up finding out the seller was from here and lived close, so we met up and I got this for my PC:

Next a very nice 2 color patch/auto. Ended up overpaying a bit as another sold shortly after I bought this, plus a bit of damage, but certainly still a nice piece /6:

Next is a very nice piece. The auto is a bit cut off, but most of his autographs are in this set and many others. But with the nice patches plus the auto a bit more visible than my old one, definitely a nice upgrade for me:

Last and certainly not least. Picked up this nice piece. At first I was unsure if I wanted to keep this one or my old one for only one reason: the autograph. It would probably grade a 9 on the auto since the very edge of the R is cut off, but with being a laundry tag 1/1...how could I not want to keep it honestly?

Not bad at all. I might look into it, but definitely very happy with the auto on that envelope because it looks so nice.

I did send back my Ford as I was 99% sure it was just as we discussed, a reprint. He did not give me a bit of trouble though, so I was lucky there honestly. Kind of sad to not have him, of course, but I will get him someday. I do have my eyes set on a few nice autos on another website, but will have to see how they go. Might have to sell some of my extras or some silver, but I want to get at least one of them.

Thanks. I have thought of having him do my Steve Owens as there really isn't any other autograph on that sheet worth noting from what I can tell. Not sure about the Friedman as I do like the first day cover, even if it is bowling. lol. (I was a stamp collector when I was younger.) Most everything else is pretty much what they need to be for my PC. Do hope to upgrade my George Allen at some point though. That thing is pretty hard to store. lol.

Nothing new guys...at least not yet. I am going to have 2 new pieces coming in, but for now...here are 3 upgrades for you to enjoy.

First, a nicer cut. There is a little ding in one of the corners, but the auto is much nicer on this one:

Next, I can't even begin to tell you how long I've been looking for one of these. His patch/autographs do not pop up very often. This one is 3/5, but I'd say about 95% of his patch/autos do not have a great autograph. They are usually cut off in some way or another. The auto on this one is perfect. There is a tiny bit of foil chipping in one of the corners, but it's great otherwise!

Last, but certainly not least, I couldn't help but buy this. I did almost end up returning it because the condition was not quite as promised. Of course, as you can see, the autograph is perfect, the patch is nasty. Now, one of the corners is a little soft (not bad and was not the problem.) The problem was it looks like small cuts or indentations around the window. They aren't quite creases and after talking to a few people, we agreed that it is likely factory damage. You can't even see them in the scans no matter what I do, so decided they aren't too bad, got a partial refund and could live with that.

Well, I just hit 262. I won this piece a few weeks back and it just arrived today. The scan does not even do this thing justice. It's absolutely beautiful in person.
