Oyyyy. I hope you don't need to use "paid" in your finals.
If you are happy with what you paid for it then leave it at that.

You got SMOKED! You can get a complete, officially licensed Pierre Thomas Jersey for $90, the same kind as the 15 jerseys they had him wear at the rookie premier, that they cut up to put in that card! These cards will be in the $1 bin 10 years from now.

Why do they usually set at $65 then? Lol

This was the first year Topps and Panini really opened the floodgates on all these fake patch cards. I have not done a full count but each company made at least 7 football sets LOADED with patches. Collectors are snapping them up still because they were shut out of the genuine patch card market for the last 10 years when they were all game used and cost hundreds of dollars per card.
Eventually, collectors will move on to their new favorite players/prospects and dump what they have, even within 18-24 months there will be tens of thousands of these patch cards available for pennies on the dollar.
I don't want to rain on your parade, I am just trying to give all the football collectors what I think is good advice. I have seen overproduction destroy anything and everything cool this hobby has ever produced.

That is EXACTLY what I am saying, These companies are putting pieces of Jerseys that you or I can go buy at Dick's Sporting Goods in these cards! Its no different than some Ebay scammer putting fake patches in an authentic jersey card. Here is a photo of Mark Ingram at the Rookie Premier wearing about 10 of these jerseys at once so they can be considered "player-worn" it is a SCAM through and through.

It would be OK as a PC pickup if these companies weren't pulling the wool over their customer's eyes. Many collectors at worst, think these memorabilia cards are game used, and the rest think that they all cam from one jersey worn at the shoot. paying more than $5 for any of these cards, with no autograph, no matter how "sick" or "nasty" the patch is, is ridiculous. Just like the insert fad of the nineties, all these cards have no intrinsic value.
People think they are rare because actual game used are rare. The OP and thousands of collectors are getting ripped off right now. Especially the really high end stuff like NT. $400 for 1 pack of Dick's Sporting Goods Jersey pieces? Really?

A lot of the patches have dirt on them in playbook though:confused:

I just looked on Ebay, if any of them had dirt, they were veteran cards. The veteran cards ARE game used and in most cases a 1/4 of the size of the RCs and #'d to 5 or 10, not 400. Think about all the sets we saw this year where the patches take up 1/2 the card and are #'d 200 or more!

I have to agree with you. That is why I feel bad when collectors on here show off their "SICK" rookie patch collections. I rather have a plain jersey game used card then a sick patch event worn card. Sooner or later collectors will catch on and the event worn jersey card bubble will BURST!

Yea Pierre Thomas was a veteran... so is that the game-used that are true ones? And still, I want a legin one for the PC to clarka3

This is not a premier because first off he was a rookie in 07 and secondly, he was undrafted so he never attended the rookie premier

It says event used, player worn, rookie premiere, and so on right on the cards. The card companies are not scamming people.
Your buying a rookie card, autographed most of the time. The patch makes them unique and can add to the value based on desirability. Fun to pull, fun to collect, fun to prospect on. What more do you want?
IF YOU DON'T LIKE THEM ,DON'T BUY THEM.

What they don't say is how many of these fake patch cards exist in total. If Panini makes 8 sets of the same year and in each set they have patch parallels of /10, /50, /100, /400 /600, by the end of the year they will have made 8,000 patch cards of one player. If they actually were marked /8000, people might pay what they are really worth, which is not much. I agree, with on card autos, there is real value, but just a patch piece is just a thick base card in my eyes.
As far as your rude comment, IF YOU DON'T LIKE THEM ,DON'T BUY THEM, which is basically telling me to shut up, I am trying to help a lot of the kids who read these boards realize they are blowing their allowance or lawn mowing $$ on what will be stuff for the dollar bins in 5 years. I don't give a flying booger what people want to collect, but the industry portrays these cards as rare and unique and they are not, plain and simple.

Eh, even then you can't always be sure. Sometimes it says it's game used but doesn't specify by whom...which means yeah it came from a jersey but it might not be your guy. And then Panini is famous for saying "this piece cannot be linked to any player, game, or season" which basically says "you have a game used something from someone."
That's why most of my non-Seneca jerseys/patches are from sets that either have a picture of the game used item on the back or have specific "this piece was used by this player" language on the back. And as for my Senecas, all his pro stuff is event worn (which I fully acknowledge) but all his press pass and sage is college game used, which is awesome!
So hopefully yours says "used by Pierre Thomas in an NFL game" or something like that. If it says "used in an NFL game" it might be Pierre, might not. If it just says "game used" and nothing else...it could be from a tennis match.

Overproduction does kill the hobby. I remember pulling a Doug Drabek Donruss Elite Gold Card # to /10,000. At the time, no card company serial numbered their cards. Everyone was desperate to get their hands on one (since they overproduced packs & boxes ... believe it or not, they were hard to pull) and paying $200+. That same card today is worth $10-15.
Your patch is nice and valuable to you today (from a hobby and personal standpoint), but more than likely, it will become a $5-10 card a couple years from now (and therefore, only be worth something personally). I still won't sell my Drabek because my father introduced me to the hobby and we broke probably a dozen boxes together trying to find one.

Oh good, well if Pierre says this card is game used, then I trust it. I'm sure he remembers where each individual piece of his cut up jersey comes from.
