how was that not over the damn back on green????

murrke03

Wade is absolutely terrible. He can't hit a jumper to save his life.

Neal and Green have been lights out this finals. You can't beat a team when guys are shooting like that.

Spo needs to take lebron, bosh, wade out.

I thought if you slide and roll over with the ball it is a travel?? Is that not the case in the NBA?

Only if you have possession before going to the ground.

This is a massacre. End it now, before the Great One gets embarrassed even more.

Maybe the Heat will wake up and come out with some urgency to start a game now. Spurs are in major control of this series the way they have been playing.

Was Lebron afraid to shoot the 3? What kind of Mvp is that?

Pretty much the exact opposite of game 2 so far, bad game for heat, great game by the spurs

Fair enough! In the NBL, you can't roll even if you dive on the ball!

Enough with the MJ comparisons already. MJ isn't playing in this series. Wade isn't helping Miami win at all either. To be fair this game was more important for San Antonio to win. They were in real trouble if they lost tonight basically having to win 3 in a row.

Considering a similar butt kicking in Game 2, there are a lot of people coming by to kick Miami when they are down now. Where were you after Game 2?

Horrible performance all around for Miami. I really can't tell if it's an injury hampering him, or if Wade is just done. Either way, his lack of midrange game really hurts them. Also, LeBron can't expect to win anything if he isn't about 100% more aggressive than he was tonight. Hopefully they get it together and make the proper adjustments.

So.... they said before this game, that since 1985 (the inception of the 2,3,2 format) that in series' that started out 1-1, the winner of game 3 went on to win 92% of the time

Spurs rebounded about as well as I could have hoped for! Now Miami need to do the same in Game 4, however the difference is the Spurs had home court to help their rebound!

How will they win?

Still ft prediction in a key game of your choice or the refs going to help dwade make a shot?

yep, just watch, it has happened pretty much every series of the entire playoffs, you'll see. dwade doesn't have to make a shot, he could die on the court it wouldn't matter.

Time to unload some Gary Neal cards? Almost all of the BINs were purchased in the past 30 minutes, some 10-15 times the going rate. I bought the last auto to end before the game started. Won it for less than $2.

Any talk about this Miami team in the same breath as the greatest teams of all time need to end. Ring or not, and I 100% agree with the postgame team, they just don't have the killer instinct, mental toughness and pride the bulls, showtime lakers and birds celts had.

This was just flat out embarrassing. Lebron is MIA. 15 PTA on 7-21? Without that run of 9 when spurs let up, his night is straight tragic. Wade 7-15? Dang. Hopefully someone gives Kawhi his props. Amazing defense.

Spurs played amazing tonight... Neal and agreed were amazing. As a team the spurs made the most three pointers in finals history. That won't happen again. That being said they had great ball movement and got good looks. Role players play so much better at home.

The ahead big 3 were horrible as was most the team. Chalmers was scoreless after scoring 19 last game. Miller showed up with 5-5 threes. The majority if the. The Heat looked disinterested and they seem to play better when they're fired up.

How are you "disinterested" in game 3 of the finals? They lost by 36. That's unprofessional and flat out pathetic. Ring or not, 5-5 in he last 10 and the third worst loss in finals history...terrible.

Who can win a game when the team hits 16 3s?

That was INSANE shooting! Heat came out looking so lazy, Lebron looked a bit sleepy, they gave up too many offensive rebounds. And WADE! For the love of god let him sit the second half please!

Spurs just flattened the heat. Such a huge swing from game two, possibly the largest ever?

you know whats the funniest part of this...........

people said lebron had such a great game in the last game of the indiana series, but he played almost EXACTLY the same, he's putting up the same crap numbers the whole time on points........ the only difference is, every now & then they will give him 15 freethrows so it looks like he's playing good, he hasn't been playing well at all...........

if the refs give him the 15 freethrows all the sudden he's playing magical, but he's playing exactly the same.

he's playing huge amounts of minutes and they are running the entire team through him.

he makes a block in a blowout and everybody is drooling......... how about playing aggressive for and entire game when needed? just 1............ I really don't think he's capable of doing so, if you remember when he tried to do it in the past his legs started cramping up and he was having trouble with dehydration etc.

You need to watch some games sometimes.

Spurs are playing great defense. Lebron can't get into the paint so he is settling for jumpers. Watch the game and you will understand.

Pacers series they allowed him to go one on one. And they were fouling him. Its why he got FTs. Spurs are playing much better D.

But what am I saying, Lebron can score 100 pts and you will find some flaws or excuse why he got it.

He is arguably the best player in the world and he needs a wake up call in the finals?

Lebron had a bad game, maybe he had a tummy ache, or Leonard destroyed him.

Well said :)!

If you can't get up for a finals series than you might as well retire.

Everyone has bad games, but if this game was a "wake up call" for him, then what does that imply, he's been sleeping? He's been disinterested? Inexcusable.

Lebron is the best player in the game, but the way he's been playing lately has left me confused. He averaged like 27 a game during the regular season and like 16 a game through three finals games.

He very well might come out and score 35 a game and the Heat might win in 6, but that just makes it even more confusing as to what he waited for. He's not being aggressive, he's not putting his stamp on games, he's not playing like the best in the world. Part of it is defense, but the eyes don't lie, he's not playing like he did during the regular season.

i know it's kind of douchey to quote yourself, but sometime i feel like i'm a psychic or something, lol.

anyway one thing i will say and i will not drop names to keep this thread from devolving into a pissing match, but the way san antonio is playing bron and wade tonight. giving them like 3-4 ft of space and daring them to shoot it. let's just say their are alot of elite championship level players in the history of this league that you wouldn't dare give that much space to because they would just make it rain out there.

that's why i say lebron's game will not age well. don't get me wrong, he is very much the best player on the planet right at this very moment, no doubt. however i can't ever see him developing into a great shooter. he lives on his athleticism and freak abilities, to get himself close high % looks, but once that leaves him i don't see him turning into a finesse player relying on great footwork and crafty moves to get himself open jumpers.

Lebron's craft is very limited, glad i'm not the only one that sees this!

Yeah you can only win with scoring right? Basketball is all about scoring points SML

to me, lebron has a talent level in which he shouldn't have to just rely on one style of game..... when your team is clicking you pass it, when your clicking you shoot it, instead he goes into this mode where he wants to be magic johnson even if they are losing, it's like he's stuck in assist mode no matter what, other big stars would say screw this i'm going for 40 and take the game from the other team when it was needed, he just doesn't step up and do that. nobody is saying he has to score 40 a game, but when your team is slumping you need to put them on your back and go for 40 so they don't get so far down they can't come back. 10-15 point lead you need to go for 10 right quick then hand it back to the team. he is very easily capable of doing so. it's like pat riley and spoelstra have engrained this floor general mentality into him so much that he just never turns it on the other way, he just always is playing this team ball situation and relying on the team no matter what. when the team doesn't have it, and you have the greatest, strongest 1 on 1 player in the world you gotta put him on and get those points. points aren't the end all be all, but you do need them to win at the end of the night.

I thought that was awesome. I picked up on it immediately.

I swear a lot of people on this forum are new to basketball. Why are people stil talking about the refs and free throws? There's going to be a disparity based on style of play. LeBron spent most of the night shooting lightly contested jumpers. Why would he go to the line?

It's hilarious how people's opinions change after each game. The spurs are a much more disciplined and fundamentally sound team than Miami. Theyve got some great depth and no one seems to be intimidated by the Heat. It's going to be a great rest of the series.

More points = better player.

Duncan ginobili and Parker are all scrubs this series too.

completely agree, none of them are playing 40+ minutes though, with the entire team being run through them so there is quite a bit of difference, but I think they should be stepping up too. miami is completely relying on lebron and he's playing the most minutes etc.

yeah i'm brand new to basketball i've only played organized basketball for 2 decades and been watching it for just as long. i'm brand new though........

lebron wasn't getting the calls in the lane, bailed out.

once again, his shot attempts were almost identical to the game 7 in indiana when they said he was magical, he just had a ton of freethrows, that was the only difference. he didn't play any better...... the games he has high points, he always has a nice amount of freethrows.

How dare people compare a great to another great after a bad game.

Jordan Game 6 of NBA Finals 5-for-19, 22 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, 5 turnovers
Kobe Game 1 of NBA Finals 10-for-27, 25 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists
Jordan Game 5 ECF 4-for-8, 18 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists
Kobe Game 6 of NBA Finals 7-for-22, 22 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 4 turnovers
Jordan Game 5 of NBA Finals 6 for 19, 3 rebounds, 2 ast, 1 steal, 4 TO
Jordan NBA Finals Game 4 11 for 27, 22 pts
Kobe NBA Finals Game 5 8 of 25, 0 rebounds, 2 asts, 3 TO

Good stuff there... LeBron will bounce back. He has too much pride to put up another bad gsme... he knows people are bashing him (ex. Magic), so he will not allow the Finals be about what he didnt do or if its his fault they lose....

LeBron is way past due for a big game... hopefully it wont come in game 5 or 6 when its too late.

to me, lebron has a talent level in which he shouldn't have to just rely on one style of game..... when your team is clicking you pass it, when your clicking you shoot it, instead he goes into this mode where he wants to be magic johnson even if they are losing, it's like he's stuck in assist mode no matter what, other big stars would say screw this i'm going for 40 and take the game from the other team when it was needed, he just doesn't step up and do that. nobody is saying he has to score 40 a game, but when your team is slumping you need to put them on your back and go for 40 so they don't get so far down they can't come back.

I dunno I've heard many times that lebron can score 50 anytime he wants or needs to, so he just hasn't wanted or needed to?

it's not one game, he does it constantly. his point average in the playoffs has been cut in half, while his rebounds and assists are up, he has this mentality if his team is playing bad that he should get the going more, but he can't, he just needs to play "HIS GAME".......... because it ends up being when the ship goes down it just completely crashes. instead of him stepping up and saving them with a nice point run.

Big difference between Lebron and Jordan is MJ would ever be so passive throughout 3 NBA finals games. Nearly half the series has gone by and LBJ has yet to do anything to make his team win. Down 2-1 and Mario Chalmers is the one that lead the charge in their only 10 dominant mins of basketball.

His triple double was fine but when his team has struggled, he has been nowhere to be found. Sure Mike had an off shooting night here and there but you pulled 3 games out of 6 finals appearances, and 1 in the ECF (lets not even touch LBJ quitting on Cavs then). Go on basketball reference and look at his numbers across those finals. 30+ per game in the 1st 3 peat on over 50% shooting. Against the Lakers he averaged 30 and 11 on 50%. Unanimous finals MVP every time.

I hate comparing but you can't use 3 bad games over 6 trips (all successful) to defend Lebron's underachieving here.

lebron is averaging 16 for this series. he was 7 for 17 in the game 2 blowout....7 for 16 in the game 1 loss.......... he shot a few more last night for a total of 21 shots only making 7, but he has played consistantly bad the whole time, he was 8 for 17 in the game 7 of the pacers series, they are running the entire offense through him and playing him almost the entire game. his stats should be higher than everyone elses always. or atleast consistantly. if you play pretty much any allstar in the league those amount of minutes they can give you more than lebron is right now.

The man has lead the league in scoring before and has notched plenty of 30+ games. Bottom line, you are MVP of the league, people compare you to the greatest of all time, you do what it takes to win or at least make sure your team doesn't get smacked by 36.

The difference is that teams were not sagging off of Jordan or Kobe daring them to shoot. The Spurs gave Lebron any open look he wanted beyond 18ft and he turned many of them down. Van Gundy touched on this several times during the game. Magic ripped Lebron not because he missed shots but because he refused to take them.

LeBron is head and shoulders the best player in the league. His game isnt flawless, he is human. He struggled. It happens. It happens way less than it used to.

I would never count out a team with LeBron on it. Even up 21 near the end of the third last night, I honestly thought LeBron was going to carry them back. I feel like most people did.

As much as I dislike LeBron, I refuse to disregard his incredible ability. I hated MJ and Kobe in their prime. I refuse to make that same mistake with LeBron. I am going to enjoy watching his game while we can because we won't get to see it forever. He makes the NBA incredibly interesting. You can't argue that.

the problem is he is really physically gifted and talented at doing alot of different stats, there are guys that blow him out the water at each individual thing but none that can touch him for all around game. he's an all around athlete. and then he has this thing where he doesn't handle big situations well and has failed at them many times back to back to back.......that doesn't translate to what he's advertised as being. all the spurs have to do is have a couple of guys heat up in 4 games and they win, and leonard, duncan, parker, ginobli, green, neal are all capable of heating up.

lebron's stat line is not "HEAD & SHOULDERS" the best in the NBA either....... he's the best all around player, but it isn't by much. the nba has alot of great players.

I give him credit, but you go off game is when you have a ton of freethrows and 30 points? that's your best? to me if he has 15 freethrows he should have 40+ points, atleast 35, he should be giving a minimum of 20 floor points since he's in the game 40+ minutes and touches the ball every trip down the floor.

That's a good point. You would expect to see more balance between the two.

So you defend the best player in the game by offering him 17 foot jumpers? That's the genius of pop? It more like a major problem with Lebron. How can you be the GOAT and not knock down open mid ange jump shots in the NBA Finals?

Like I said Lebron isn't the shooter Jordan was. He's gotten better but is currently a little cold. It happens to all players. Not that complicated really.

The spurs have played Lebron great and teamed with the fact that he's not shooting as well as he did earlier in the playoffs he's struggled offensively.

That doesn't mean Lebron isn't great though.

Your right. And that's the genius of pops defense. That's exactly how you need to defend Lebron. In the first couple rounds Lebron was shooting very well. He's gone a little cold and the plan is working.

The thing is he has become a very good outside shooter for the most part. They were also giving Wade anything beyond 15ft which I understand because although he is a good scorer his outside game is below avg. Wade passing up those shots makes sense and served him well this season.

I would be absolutely be shocked to see Lebron turning down those shots next game.

I agree. That's the blame Lebron should get. He should be getting blame for not shooting. Not for missing shots.

The key to winning is Wade & Bosh. Without them the Heat and Lebron are just another team.

he hasn't been shooting great the entire playoffs really......... his best games he just had a bunch of freethrows.......

I think choke artist is a bit extreme. Lebron has been tremendous for the most part the last couple of seasons in these situations. Early in his career I think the criticism was valid.

How many big games has he no shown in?

He is about to 1-3 in the NBA Finals.

His Record as of right now in the finals is 7-11.

0-4
2-4
4-1
1-2

And 3/4 of that record is with having the Big 3.

7-7 with the Big 3.

watching sportscenter..... in the segment with stephen a. smith........ if you look at how he's talking about the defense collapsing on lebron, you see lebron trying to shoot and he has several shots where he could have gotten foul calls and didn't........ this is my main point about the whole being "GIVEN" freethrow shots......... if the whistle starts going his way he plays up to it, and it gets ridiculous.....he shot ZERO, count them, ZERO freethrow shots last night and his game was completely off........ that's what I constantly talk about, his game is always whistlefest..... he doesn't go off on the floor in any of these, he just gets a ton of whistles in his good games.

lebron james was ABSOLUTELY fouled numerous times last night........ no calls....

of course neal & green went off....... but follow lebrons game, he's never playing well or scoring alot unless it's freethrows...... to me that's a league fix type of situation. it should be called even.... it shouldn't be that he gets zero fouls last night and then in game 4 or 5 he gets 15 tap fouls...... it's just grossly unfair from both teams perspective.

Quite a few early in his career. I though the loss to Dallas really helped him turn the corner. His 11-12 postseason was tremendous, huge performance in a pivotal game against the Celtics and consistent throughout. This postseason has also been tremendous up to the Spurs series. I think these next couple of games will really define what Lebron is or is not. Losing is not really the issue, as that is a team situation. The question will be is he doing everything he can to prevent that.

lebron was relatively solid in last years finals, he still shot quite a few free throws in my opinion, and he was under 50% from the floor most of the time, which I never really understand because he shoots alot from close to the rim, dunks etc.... if you take out his dunks and wide open stuff, he "ALWAYS" shoots terrible.

4 losses early in his career.

7 losses as a member of the big 3. All in the last 2 years.

Maybe Lebron would feel more comfortable shooting from half-court since he seems to practice those a lot!

I think you are correct.

Coach Pop has used unconventional stategies in the past and they've worked more times than not. This series he gives Bosh and Wade more opportunties than they are used to as a trade off to shutting Lebron down offensively. Thus far, it has worked. Outside of the demoralizing third quarter of game two the Spurs have controlled this series.

The Spurs have also shown that they can use 'small ball' and excessive movement and switching to control the tempo OR slow down the tempo and funnel through the inside.

The question is not about the losses though, it is about his effort in those games. If he is the best player on the court and they lose I do not think you can pin that on him.

About this -32 stat for LeBron.

It's not all about LeBron. It's also about the 4 players on the court at the same time. Now don't get me wrong, the Heat are not the Bobcats. But when Jordan had a bad game, he could rely a lot more on the 4 players around him.

All the Spurs have to do at the moment is keep LeBron at bay (they do it very well, props to Leonard and his teammates), the other Heat players don't do squat. It's almost 1 on 5. Whatever your name is, even MJ, you can't score 30 playing 1 on 5.

no actually a -32 +/- stat is an individual stat, it is the measure of how good or bad you make your team while on the floor. the rest of the team doesn't effect that stat at all. it's about lebron himself making poor decisions, nothing else, if he played well and the team lost or played exactly the same he wouldn't have that negative stat.

and to act like lebron hasn't relied on the rest of the heat in his wins is simple ridiculous, he has had major help in all wins.........

Jordan played with some fairly average players early in his career and scoring points was never an issue for him. The Starting 5 in 86-87 series against Boston was Dave Corzine, Charles Oakley, John Paxton, Jordan, and Gene Banks. Jordan still dropped 37ppg.

It is an individual stat that is impacted by team performance. It is the cumulative total of team +/- while you are on the court.

So this series is over, that is what I am getting at. One game is one game.

Had last nights game been a one point OT loss would the series still be presumed over? I think not. I find these comments hilarious.
