How to resolve this situation?

So a member and I did a blind trade about two weeks ago for base cards. He sent me 180 Tigers base cards (many dups, most from Bowman paper/Chrome) and asked for rookies in returned. I sent about 110 rookies only from Topps, Bowman, etc. His lot arrived about a week after we agreed, mine apparently has never arrived. I'm not smart and didn't have DC on it.

Naturally, he was upset. I took full responsibility and I kept telling him to send PP and I'll refund shipping and return the lot he sent me. Instead of sending me PP, he just wanted to call me a scammer and how I did this on purpose. FINALLY he sent me his PP information and I refunded him the exact cost to ship it and late last week, when the PP information was sent, did a return on the cards.

Now, he is asking for $40 for the lot or he will leave negative feedback. Did I do something wrong? He claimed the lot never arrived (Maybe he is scamming me? Doubt it but if he can accuse me, I can accuse him). I refunded the shipping he paid and am returning the cards. What else am I suppose to do? $40 for 180 base cards is a travesty and I could use help from the members here.

I know I should have used DC, I don't print labels for the most part and didn't think it was needed to spend $1 on a base card trade. Clearly I should have used a DC looking back, but I think I'm handling this as best as I can? If not, please help, thank you.

I don't want to say it because I'm just looking for opinions on what to do, not calling him out because he hasn't done anything wrong really. However if you notice my feedback percentage go down, because he is dying to neg me, I'll obviously say who it is.

Okay thanks, that's what I thought I should do, and am doing. I told him to be patient and let his cards come back. I will state that when this started, I found out in a PM and about 90 minutes later he sent another PM in a totally different tone, all because I didn't respond in 90 minutes. I am saving all the PMs, but apparently he said a MOD has told him he can leave feedback now if he wants.

Here's the PM about $40, I'm sorry but 180 base cards are not $40.

I believe the lot was a $40 lot. if you agree to paypal the funds I leave this alone forever and do not leave the feedback you deserve. if not I leave the feedback and let others on this site know who they are dealing with. I am well know here and people will ask, and I will tell them, again, this is principle.

Based of what I read that he is trying to take advantage of a newer member, because this guy has like 150 feedback.

Until he brought up the $40, I didn't say anything. I'm sure he is being honest, but if he can say I'm scamming him, I guess I can too. I wouldn't be surprised if he was. Lesson learned, send DC no matter how big the trade.

It was literally 2013 Bowman base cards of vets and some prospects of Tigers. I can't sell this lot for $50 haha, but he thinks his lot is worth $40. A lot of dups too, I would say maybe 4-5 per card of vet base. Trust me, when he said he expects $40 I burst in laughter.

This. Im sure some BODA's can figure out who it is without you naming him. But you should still drop the name. If he did nothing wrong, he has nothing to hide.

sounds to me like this is a case of a more experienced member taking advantage of a newbie. Including feedback extrotion.

You should:

-save all PM's,
-report his PM with the feedback extortion to the Mods (the little red triangle on the lower left of the PM),
-name the member in this thread

And for the love of god send using DC next time. It will solve all (most) of your headaches! 3oz package costs $1.69 and can print right at home. If you don't know how to do it through PayPal using Multi-Order Shipping (you are able to do this even though no funds change hands) just hit me up via PM and I'll explain.

Please give a name. Regardless of the truth of the other stuff, this is a "well know" member who would happily be bought out of leaving "deserved" negative feedback for $40 (I don't think it's a deserved neg but that's beside the point, this member supposedly believes it is deserved). That alone is someone worth avoiding IMO.

Red flags 1, 2, 3? Ya he didn't ship with DC, so I will give you 1. But he refunded your cost to ship(not a red flag) & is returning your cards. So it cost him $6 & some cards because he didn't use DC. Yet you come around asking $40 because you dont want the cards back or you are leaving a neg because you have more feedback and think you can muscle your way to some fast $. I will be curious to see if any of the cards he was supposed to send get posted for sale in the future...now if he doesn't return your cards then I can understand. He didn't come in here blasting you, he asked for advice so get over yourself!

If a package gets lost and the other guy refunds you your shipping and returns your side of the trade, that's not neg worthy. It's certainly not woth $40 either. Inevitably things are going to go wrong with some deals. How people handle it is just as important as, if not more important than, how they handle a deal with zero issues.

Likewise one could ask, "What good is feedback if you ask for money in exchange for not leaving feedback?" If you truly think it's neg-worthy, leave a neg. There are two ways to go. Wait a bit longer for your side to arrive or accept the refund and return and leave a neg, positive, neutral, or nothing.

Sorry, but where has the OP proven that the cards were returned to their owner? From reading his posts it sounds like the other guy in this deal wanted to be compensated if he wasn't getting his cards back.

You want to accuse boysofsummer of stuff, but no one is acknowledging the more obvious scam: the OP just got $40 in cards for $6. Now if he proves that the cards were returned to boysofsummer already, then I will apologize.

I don't think that you are being reasonable. The OP shipped the cards without DC and it came back to bite him. He immediately returned your postage expense via Pay Pal and agreed to send your cards back.

If thats the type of money u get for base cards where your from let me know I have a ton of base cards we could work out a good deal for both of us on. No reason to do that he gave u the money it cost u to ship and sending your cards back so realistically he loses out on that $6 plus the cards he sent plus whatever his shipping cost. Why do you keep saying I never sent the cards? I wouldn't pay $6 for the lot of cards you sent me, yet I refunded you right away. Instead of communicating a resolution, you kept claiming I was scamming you. You have said that in every PM, that I never sent. I did sent. Things do get lost in the mail. Stories happen like that all the time. If I had DC it would probably show it got routed to Alaska on accident. I have NO idea where it is at. It could be at your house of all I know. Unlike you, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Next time a problem arises with someone, don't accuse them of a bunch of things before they can even respond to you. Give someone time to respond.

I'm not sure what the original thread has to do with the delivery confirmation, but thanks for the additional information. I don't have a dog in this fight. It's my understanding that the other member doesn't have his cards and he doesn't have any proof that you've sent them out. If you got DC on the return and didn't send it to him because you were busy that's fine, but given what has already happened can you really blame him for being paranoid?

I absolutely understand where he is coming from. I am trying my best to resolve the situation. I just want some patience on his end. I sent the PP as soon as I got information. It was when he said, "Well I want $40 or else neg" when I got a little taken aback.

I know you warned me recently but I didn't listen. I really long for the days when we could all give each other crap in good fun. It seems the last couple of months we have been overrun by the PC and Wusses R' Us crowd. I tried to fight against it like you told me not to and got my first suspension. I would like to say I earned it but I have been more offensive in church than I was in the way that earned me my vacation. Even with what I know to be the sad but true current make up of the boards I am shocked someone reported that. So now we are reporting things that may or may not offend others that are more than likely not even aware we exist? Maybe if we were Sizzler.com or Smorgasboardbuffett.com that kid might wander by but I bet he never would have seen your comment here.

Even if he was to become aware of it he is currently 'famous' by being 400 lbs and running over 135 pounders. I think a few internet jabs are fair play. Most of my posts and comments here are usually done tongue in cheek or smart arsed, the next couple of sentences won't be.

I really and truly fear for the direction we are going as a society. The entire participation ribbons, offend no one, love everyone, it isn't anyone's fault, make excuses for everything, have no accountability or responsibility attitude that is pervading our culture is all kinds of bad. It certainly isn't the kind of thing that we were founded on or made us great. I would be embarassed to sit down with the WWII generation and ask their thoughts on what we've done to their country. It used to be that if something was wrong you said so and stood up against it. People used to be willing to give their lives for the greater good of others and could care less if that offended the wusses or bad people.

I could go on but I just don't feel like another vacation so soon. Crystal, as usual, thank you for being one of the sane and productive ones around here. It is such a shame they are neutering the few that are willing to speak up and try to help around here. I keep seeing case after case of this happening. If it continues, people like us will continue to keep quiet and this place will be overrun with scumbags and the good members will go away. Heck, look at this very member section. How many new scam threads are started every single day? But yep, the bigger problems are comments about fat people. Uh, ok.

Edit: Just to clarify. I have no problem with fat people. Some of my best friends are fat. No fat people were intentionally or knowingly harmed during the making of this post.

I must say I had an absolutely HORRIBLE experience with boysofsummer also. I try my hardest to stay out of all the drama and was on the verge of making a thread about it when it happened but he did make it right (after being called out privately.)
Long story short I traded a Mike Stanton BC auto for an Andrew Luck Topps Prime Auto. Received the Luck and the Stanton DC said out for delivery but was not delivered. The next day he he insisted the card was "gone forever" and he was screwed. I asked him to please be patient and see what happened in the next few days while I looked into it. From the start I said how I wouldn't allow him to take the total loss and hopefully we could split it. My neighbor is a mailman so when I talked to them they told me how some items are delivered but for some reason don't update for a LONG time, and that the trucks are cleaned out every day and checked so it most likely was delivered. I still believed he didn't receive it until he got a negative the next day (removed shortly after.) After a few more days I get a PM stating how I was trying to screw him and since I had more feedback I was taking advantage of him and wasn't going to send anything. Even though I wanted to wait a little longer I caved and sent a little more than half of the value in cards. The day after he received my cards that Stanton tracking updated and said delivered. It was never scanned anywhere else so I'd assume it was a delay in tracking info and the card was delivered that day. I tell boysofsummer to pick a card from the lot to keep for the hassle an send back the rest and sent him $ to cover the shipping back. Well the package arrives and the 2 best adds are both missing (red ref RC of a mets prospect from 2012 bc /5 & cecchini bc auto.) I message him asking why he kept 2 cards and he claimed he thought he bought the cecchini off eBay and must have put it in a different stack. Had it been the other way around I would have sent ALL the cards back. In the end he paid me for the Cecchini so I didn't feel it was neg worthy since all of this could have been a mistake on USPS & boysofsummer, but now after the other extortion and other thread linked I feel a pattern is starting to show.

You called him more than just fat - you brought his paternity (or lack thereof) into your insult. Your comment was reported by a few people as offensive. It looks pretty mild to me, but it was only deleted and the log says you were sent a simple warning and nothing more.
