Looks like it's down to Detroit and Tennessee..

And from what I'm reading, he is leaning towards Tennessee...

Detroit...

Rumors of a plane heading to SD right now actually...

Lions preparing to send plane to San Diego for Ken Whisenhunt? - Pride Of Detroit (http://www.prideofdetroit.com/2014/1/13/5304746/lions-plane-flight-tracker-ken-whisenhunt)

Not sure how I feel about him after some conservative play calling during the playoffs. I don't assume he would be calling plays here though.

Detroit would be perfect for him. He'll turn around Stafford just like he did to Rivers.

■ Titans in mix: ESPN analyst Adam Schefter tweeted this morning that the interest between Whisenhunt and the Tennessee Titans, who interviewed him last Friday, is “real and it’s viable.” NFL.com reporter Ian Rapaport echoed something similar: “While the #Lions job is clearly attractive, Whisenhunt also feels comfortable with #Titans front office & the city. Something to watch.”

Detroit for sure. I am sure we will have a deal today and the news will be coming out soon. I am pretty stoked about this move as well. I think it is a good fit and I can't wait to see what the lions do next season!

Lions put all their eggs into this basket and now will either overpay greatly or go back to drawing board. I can make this statement because I have been elected from the brotherhood of Lions fans by lionsfan20.

After watching that putrid Offensive game plan yesterday against the Broncos I'd be surprised if he gets a hire. Interviewing with 3 clubs before a playoff game priceless.....
You can try to spin it however you want it he mailed it in for the Bolts heading into this game. Rant over :)

WOW.... Detroit better go the College Coach/Assistant route now.

No other retread was even somewhat enticing.

@NFL_ATL: Lions sent owner's private plane to San Diego to pick up Ken Whisenhunt today, according to @RapSheet. Whiz did not get on that plane.

Rehire Schwartz. Best Option.

I would look at David Shaw now...

I wasn't thrilled with his offense, but he is a very good coach and leader.

Lions ownership must be that bad that they are deterring options. Or they just don't see the talent, especially at QB.

Rehire Schwartz for a season lol

Rehire Schwartz. Best Option.

the Lions would have had the same or possibly even a better record with no coach at all. that team has more talent and top 15 draft picks than any team in the NFC north!!! im a die hard Packer fan and i dont even mind watching the Lions win games (as long as its not against us). they have ALL that talent! they are supposed to win games. ive been expecting them to get to the postseason for 3 years now.

i cant think of a team in the league that is that talented and full of good players that cant make it to the playoffs in the last 3 years. this year with Reggie Bush in the backfield there was no more excuses for schwartz

I can't decide if I am happy about whisenhunt or not but I think you can pencil in a QB in the first or second round.

Lions need to step back and take their time. Caldwell and Kinnock or whoever isn't the road to the promise land.

Bust out the Millions and pay Garden Dungy or Cowher.

Just looked up Caldwell and Munchak's record as head coaches. They are a combined 48-48! Woohoo! That is a great track record especially when Caldwell had Peyton Manning as his QB for 2 seasons. Just when I thought the Lions could not get any worse they go and prove me wrong. I am pretty much convinced now that the Lions will NOT make it to a super bowl let alone ever win one while the Fords own the team.

As a Lions fan, I'm not happy they let Wisenhunt get away, especially since all the coaches left aren't even a upgrade from Gym Shorts. Might as well bring Wayne Fontes outa retirement, he'd do as well as Cauldwell

What's even worse is his NCAA HC record at WF....... 26–63

Caldwell would be an absolute disaster IMO.

Careful, brah - dat negativity will force you remove yourself from the ranks of Lions fans! :special:

Kidding aside, your last sentence gives me some hope that perhaps a few of the scales have fallen from your eyes and that you can begin to recognize the sheer horror that this franchise has been, is, and will be under the stewardship of the Ford family. The Detroit Lions are the graveyard of coaches, occasional star players, and dreams.

Honestly I wouldn't mind Caldwell either as I think he is a good coach that has very good relationships with players but also can control a team... Also heard that Tressel would be on his coaching staff which I wouldn't mind...

OMG! I did not even realize that. So Munchak is literally Schwartz 2.0 even coming from the same former team and Caldwell is a career loser who is obviously not fit to be a HC! Those are the top 2 prospects...future sure is bright for the Lions. Might as well just let Stafford coach the team.

Up to this point we had hope therefore my optimism. I have not liked the Fords since they basically drove the best running back in the history of the NFL to early retirement. Now they have crushed that optimism and even with my honolulu blue glasses on I can see that the future is bleak for this team.

The Lions will not wait for Quin from Seattle to be done this season either so there is no hope there. They will jump the gun now and go for the best turd they can polish in either Munchak or Caldwell I am sure.

If Caldwell and Tressel are LIons coaches I might have to reconsider being a Lions fan. I just don't see anyone on this team respecting Caldwell and buying in to anything he says. Unless they gut the team and start over he will not have a chance. I REALLY don't like Tressel! I have hated him since his first year at tOSU. This just gets more and more depressing by the minute. I thought the Lions may actually get something right for once when they were going after Whisenhunt. SMH

Locker would probably be the first concern. Develop or dump?
Another issue would be Kenny Britt. Injury prone yet a helluva deep threat.

legion624
01-14-2014, 05:32 AM
Locker is probably done imo. I think the titans draft a QB in the first or second. Britt is gone. He is a injury prone knuckle head and they have Wright and Hunter plus the wr position is deep in this year's draft.

Good, I was worried that they would make a stupid panic hire.

They need to slow down, and not panic.

They #1 objective is finding a coach better than Schwartz. Caldwell, Munchak are not that. Mediocre at best.

I would agree with this. That is not the Lions MO though. I was thinking Kubiak would be the perfect fit. High profile coach that can take talented teams to a steady 7-9, 8-8 record year after year. That is perfect for the Lions.
