They do it for Eli too?

I can understand the Wilson as they may just have a few jerseys left over from just 2 years ago, but Eli was a rookie so long ago, no way they'd have any left from him.

And the shield doesn't even appear to be on a part of a jersey that's a collar, just on a random piece of fabric.

They have players wear jerseys at autography sessions, or sometimes just tell then to do it and mail them back with their signed cards.

This opens up the door for the garbage patches they put on fabtic attached with a safety pin.

Really?

Honestly never noticed that for guys who'd been in the league this long, thought anything past the first few years of cards for a player were all game used (or at least "game used" haha)

That is one ugly card. The left side looks like something one of those custom guys make in their garage.

Probably from Pants that they cut it up and pasted on.

Those types of logos are on shorts, tshirts, practice unis, towels...pretty much anything you can name that a player wears/uses. That's why they state that the items are not from any particular game or event.

They wear a dozen jerseys with about 200 nfl shield logos on each of them while they play a game of candy crush.

Topps, Upperdeck, and Panini all do this... its nothing new except for the fact that as of late Panini has had alot more game used items than the other companies. Its pretty lame

I just don't think I've seen a "player worn" shield like this for a 10th year card, usually from the first few years and just because they still have them sittig around from their rookie year still

But maybe I just haven't noticed it before because it's usually in a window cut to the shield and not a wide open window with a shield just sewn to a random piece of fabric

Ill go with a logo from a hat… it does say "Material" …. like a few posts mentioned before … it could be from a towel, t-shirt, hat, sweat pants….etc

Except the shield is from before 2007 when it changed to 8 stars

This is exactly why I sold every single "game used" card in my collection over the last year or so with the exception of my Fred Dryer. And I only kept that because it has an auto attached to it.

As soon as I find an auto with no jersey it will be sold as well. I don't have the time to do 4 hours of research before I buy a game used card.

Panini could put anything they want in cards and no one would know the difference.

Topps, still do this day refuses to give an explanation as to what "authentic memorabilia" really means.

They have flat out been asked "Does it mean game used" and they refuse to reply.

Not to mention the Donald Cerrone incident. Go ahead and read this short twitter exchange. You will be cringing after. Cerrone himself addressed the matter.

Also look at post #30 in this thread and form your own opinion of the autos.

I was looking into this a little bit on ebay and I noticed a lot of weirdness with the player-worn/game-worn language in Playbook. There are down & dirty patch booklets of Romo, Marshawn Lynch, Vernon Davis, and Dez Bryant that say player-worn material, but they have grass and dirt stains. I only found one down & dirty booklet that says game-worn, a DeMarco Murray. The down & dirty set is supposed to be unwashed game used jerseys that have grass and dirt stains, so the player-worn language on some of them doesn't make any sense. Panini must have messed up in their player-worn/game-worn distinctions for the veteran material cards in Playbook.

Or, they had the player where them for 10 seconds at a signing and then took the jersey out to the back yard and rubbed it in the grass and dirt.

If they did do this, no one would know the difference or ever be able to prove it.

What was the verdict of this case?!

NY Post rarely lies about things sports oriented. They usually are on top of the game with things nobody else wants to publish in the sports market.

I heard about 2 years ago they crashed a huge Merchandise ring selling "Game Used Items" to Topps & Upper Deck and they never commented on whether any of the items from this merchandise ring was included into cards.

When I sell I rarely list something as "Game Used". I do every now and then...but most of the time use the terms "Rookie Jersey" Or "Relic".

Edit: Please read the details of this case: http://www.fbi.gov/chicago/press-releases/2011/six-men-charged-with-fraud-involving-sports-memorabilia

Wow always wondered about this. Gives me less confidence in buying 1/1 logos now.
