So I just got a return request from a guy I just sold a Garoppolo to... Sold for $185. He just got it and said that three corners were damaged.. (Complete bull) the card had one corner with a small bit of white showing. He also said that I shipped carelessly. That right there is complete crap. I sent the card in a toploader, 2 decoys, in a team bag, in a bubble mailer.... I have the particular listing as "no returns accepted" what can I do? I can deny all this correct, then he could file an item not described right? By the time the card comes back it'll be a $75 card cutting my profits more than double... Any one have or know anything I can do?

Also, mine sold at $185, which was the first. The next one sold @ $158... Tell me this doesn't sound like buyers remorse???

From the sounds of it, you'd be better off not fighting it, refunding, getting the card back and trying to resell. It might be buyers remorse, but in the end, if he's not happy at all, eBay will side with him. Sucks, but that's how eBay operates anymore.

Ask him to send pics. What he thinks are damaged corners might be different than what you think.

It sucks because I drained my PP to pay a huge amount on my credit card. Money isn't even in my account anymore.

write a bunch of jiberish into google translate, translate it into Russian. Send him that message but put "...OR ELSE, OK BUDDY" at the end. I think he'll change his tune.

You have no chance at winning. Just refund and move on.
It sucks, but until another company decides sellers are human we are all bent over for the buyer.

Almost the same exact thing happened to me last month. Sold an encased Flawless card, but it showed up cracked to the buyer. One thing I learned though is that eBay will still charge you the fees for the sale. I had to call to get those refunded as a one time "courtesy."

That sucks man. Not much you can do about it even though you said no returns accepted. Damages I'm sure never apply to returns or not. Just make sure he sends it back first. I'm sorry dude. I know how you feel :(

Awesome. He's saying the corners are creased.

In this case? Bend over and take it.
Buyers remorse. Can buy the same card a week later for $30-$50 less.
This is the risk you run when selling things right out of the gate.
Can we please have the buyers name?

I'm not going to put him on blast. It's looking now more so that it was damaged in transit. Of course it had to be the $185 card instead of the $10 card. Murphys law

OK so when you receive it back in the condition that you sent it in he will have had time to F over quite a few more sellers!

Just a heads up, marking that you don't accept returns doesn't matter at all. You have to accept returns otherwise there's nothing stopping a seller from selling an expensive item and shipping it really damaged or a box of rocks and then just saying "no returns". I'm not saying you did this or would ever do this but accepting returns is mandatory, I don't even know why they have that as an option to change.

This is not true at all. There is a reason for not accepting returns. If you do not accept returns ebay will not force you to accept them if the buyer changes their mind and no longer wants/needs the item purchased. However it would then open you up to the buyer lying about the item condition once it arrives.

In the case of Sent Item Not as Described, you will lose the case as a seller. Regardless if you accept returns or not.

Was this Chrome?
Seem to be a lot of extremely nitpicky buyers for Chrome, especially on the Baseball side.

I'm not going to put him on blast. It's looking now more so that it was purposely damaged so he could have "evidence". Of course it had to be the $185 card instead of the $10 card. Murphys law
FTFY. Put him on blast.

On a side note... I used decoys on both sides in a team bag. Has anyone EVER had an issue with creasing in this case?

No, this would be a first. Sounds like he damaged the card to get his refund and you eat the loss and get a bad card in return.
Please, someone invent real competition to paypal/ebay.

The best part was when I said the card was mint when it came to him and that I really have no idea what he was talking about with bad packaging... He replied with I've been doing this 30 years blah blah blah. I open multiple cases of cards blah blah blah... I asked if he thinks the decoy may have damaged the card to which he replied ... "What's a decoy"

To me it looks like he's covering the "it was damaged through poor shipping" angle with his words. I'm beyond pissed... I could give a crap about the refund. Even at a settled price, who the hell is going to buy a playoff ticket with 4 creased corners... Bull crap.

While we're at it, it takes some kind of miracle for all 4 corners to get creased.

I rifled through the rest of the cards in box as they were all still there. Zero creased cards. Man... I always feel sorry for others in this situation. It does suck being on this end of it.

I'm praying that by creased he's blowing things out of proportion and its corner touches. I'm expecting the worst. Should have pics here soon : (
if I'm you, i take the return and happily hold onto it for a few months.
is that the fun answer? hell no. and i have been given that advice before and scoffed at it.
but in august, when garapolo is tearing up the 2nd stringers in preseason, i bet you can get more.
hold onto for a couple years when he either is traded or inherits the starting job and you'll ge a lot more.
this sucks, and i hate ebay folks like that, but it could be a blessing in disguise.

That's the problem. I'd happily just the the refund. I'm fact, I'm okay with it because I'm very high on him. Look at his stuff, lots of folks are. It's things like "3 creases" that make me want to cringe..
screw the guy, in my opinion.
remember his address so you don't sell it to him when Jimmy is selling for higher.
again - tough situation. really sucks. but it will suck for that guy less (and won't suck for you at all) if you exercise some patience here, perhaps.

So do you think allowing returns could be better in the end? The buyer knows they can return it for no reason other than they don't want it or buyers remorse and not have to worry about damaging the card to have an excuse to return it if returns are not accepted?
also - keep in mind that, this being the playoff ticket, if the dude is the real deal then it will never go out of style.
pain in the ass to ruin a very good sale, but if he is actually as good as people think that sale is within reach in the future. an unnumbered auto from a lesser product is far more dependent on being quick to market than a contenders auto /99. should help ease the pain.

That's because there is no damage. He probably bought one for $50 less and wants his money back on this one

Which would probably be you best case scenario at this point. Just screw the pictures, as him to send back and you'll refund. Hope he just lied about damage and you'll still get the card back in the same condition.
