Everyone already knew about this. If you hadn't heard about this before now you may have been living under a rock.
The fact the writer has decided to bring this back up 22 years later, does nothing to tarnish the legacy of Manning, since this was already "old" news, but does open up scars for the young woman who this happened to.
The writer sets out to bash Manning, but only succeeds in hurting the victim even more in this case.
Terrible, terrible piece of journalism.

Not just that woman but the eye witness as well.
One person, though, could settle all of this: Malcolm Saxon.
And, in fact, he did settle it. In an affidavit, Saxon refuted Manning's story and made it clear that Manning never mooned him. In a letter to Manning, Saxon, who stated that he lost his eligibility as a student-athlete over it, practically begged him to come forward and tell the truth (see page 20). Here's an excerpt from the letter:
First, I have stuck to my same story throughout this drama. I told Mike Rollo the next day and Coach Fulmer a week or two afterwards. I had nothing to hide at that point and I have nothing to hide today. I have never been on Jamie's side or on your side (contrary to what the athletic department was telling you and telling her). I stuck to the truth and I lost my eligibility for it. My redshirt request sat on Mike Rollo's desk for months as the process was going forward. I'm not angry about it anymore, just getting a little tired of it!!
Peyton, you messed up. I still don't know why you dropped your drawers. Maybe it was a mistake, maybe not. But it was definitely inappropriate. Please take some personal responsibility here and own up to what you did. I never understood why you didn't admit to it.…
Saxon goes on to tell Peyton things like:
Coming clean is the right thing to do.

Person 2: IN DEPTH DETAILS MAN! I NEED IN DEPTH DETAILS!
It's amazing people almost need to be reassured on facts. They just can't be told the facts, they need all the info possible.
As if it's not bad enough Ray Rice knocked his gf out/Manning t bagged a chick/Sandusky raped kids, people want to hold off judgment until they get more details. HE KNOCKED HIS GF OUT/T-BAGGED A CHICK/RAPED KIDS!!! What else do you need to know?! Why all of a sudden now that more details came out are people NOW up in arms about this. Lol....cracks me up.
It should never matter the extent of how any of these actions were done. The fact they were done in the first place should have been appalling enough.
Sandusky is rotting in prison. Ray Rice got kicked out of the NFL. Peyton Manning settled for $300,000 which back in 1993 was a crap ton of money. Big Ben settled, Kobe settled, Vick paid his dues, I could go on and on and on and that's just in the NFL....
Get over it. These people paid their dues. Not up to your liking? Nobody cares.

Yes it's been out there for years, but don't think I've ever seen it this detailed. Combined with the fact Peyton sent 'goons' as people have called them to the house of the Sly family and you get a clearer picture. The fact that people define player as classy/unclassy based on a few seconds of fun, like dancing on the field, when this stuff happens off of it is what gets me.
The cover-up by other people involved is just terrible. That's one thing I didn't really know about.

I know there are many people on her who always drop the "Brady left a girl alone with a child card" which is laughable since he still is involved with his kids, takes care of them and was not even married at the time. Add to the fact that half the country has done the same I find it hard to judge that anyway. Keep in mind that Peyton openly banged the Indy weather girl for years and his wife bangs openly as well. Not judging, do not care as these things happen to many people, just saying maybe do not hop on other people for less potential crimes.

Steelers fan through and through, but born and raised in Indianapolis so had to watch the Colts every Sunday. When the Steelers weren't in it, it crushed me to see the Colts fail in the playoffs so many times. I'm glad they finally got theirs in 2007. If the Steelers lose this Sunday, I'll be rooting for Old Manning to put together a Jerome Bettis/Ray Lewis/John Elway Super Bowl run.

I remember hearing about this for a brief second years ago, but I recall it kinda being an insignificant thing that went away the next day. Never knew about the whole story.
Why wouldn't he just say "Yeah, I was an immature douchebag with a ton of football-fueled testosterone and I teabagged the doctor. I thought it would be hilarious. Didn't think about how it would make her feel. Never thought about it being sexual assault, I was just being an idiot. My bad. Part of the problem with the world is too many people think every thing posted on Twitter or Facebook is 100% fact. No one thinks for their self anymore. Of course I'd want all the info I could get on something and not just be told what's fact from some clown journalist looking for 15 mins of fame.

Consider the source, the author of this article is Shaun King, who was outed as being 100% white after pretending to be half black and fabricating lies about his personal struggles as a 'black' man. Oh and he also fell out with the Black Lives Matters movement (another victim of his false identity) when it was revealed that he had misappropriated funds and engaged in other shady tactics. Nothing he has to say about victimhood means anything, wait until a reputable source reports this before piling on Peyton.

Yeah I am going to go there:
Tom Brady is alleged to deflate footballs, he is thrown under the bus, called a cheater, his integrity is questioned and hes a phony.
Peyton Manning does all this and its brushed under the rug.
I hope what Peyton did isnt true but the evidence is damning, but people let that slide but some potential deflated footballs and a destroyed phone is MUCH worse than sexual harassment and ruining a woman's life.

You don't have to like Shawn King or read his article but at least read the court documents he cites the page numbers of every single fact in his story and provides original documents.. None of that is fabricated and I'd be curious to read about the 1994 incident that was removed from the documents by the request of Manning's counsel. It also really goes to show how institutions protect their own.
All that being said it really does go to show how much our culture likes tearing down people at the top.

Old news.
Yes, the story is old and reasonably well known. But King isn't going after Peyton so much as he's going after what court documents strongly indicate is a cover up. Despite the writer, there are a lot of new (to me) facts about this disturbing case. It goes beyond the initial sexual assault encounter and details how the Manning family destroyed this woman's career, and they used shady racist tactics as well.

That's where the issue lies. And some of that blame can be put on us, the fan. I, for one, am guilty of it.
I'm a huge fan of Ben Roethlisberger. I mean a HUGE FAN....I want to go to his HOF induction ceremony if he happens to be lucky enough to get inducted in.
When going to see a Steeler game in Kansas City, a Chief fan ran up to me and asked me while I was wearing my Roth jersey, "How's it feel to support a rapist?" My response was, "I don't care what he does off the field just as long as he produces on it."
Unfortunately, this is the terrible side of being a fan. Guys like Kobe, Roth, Ray Rice, etc....can allegedly rape someone or punch a girl, but as long as they aren't hurting the integrity of the game, it's swept under the rug.
BUT, if you do something, such as allegedly cheating, like Tom Brady has done which does hurt the integrity of the game, then it's an absolute uproar bc that person has taken away chances of people's favorite teams to win, by adjusting the odds in his favor. Thus, causing an uproar.
It's crazy that that's the way it is, but that's pretty much fandom when it comes to sports. Look no further than the tributes Kobe gets night in and night out this year.

I am not doubting that at all. If Roger Goodell would have handled the alleged Spy Gate correctly, then that would have put an end to everything, but due to his poor judgment, it opened up the flood gates on Deflategate, and whatever alleged tactics the Patriots supposedly used to gain an advantage.
By doing very minimal with Spygate, Goodell let the Patriots continue their supposed cheating tactics. I don't care for the Patriots, but it's Goodell, not the Patriots who is to blame for all of this backlash that the Patriots receive.

If people didnt think Peyton got preferrential treatment from the media and fans, they sure do now
Tom Brady is a cheater. That is totally irrelevant to this. Now if Peyton used HGH, that would be similar to Brady's cheating. Tom Brady knocking up a woman and throwing her to the curb is similar to this. Peyton, Brady, Big Ben, Kobe, Michael Jordan etc. are all horrible people. I guess that since you are perfect and have never done anything wrong, you can throw stones at Peyton for shortcomings in his personal life.

Let me know who the Patriots draft with their 1st round pick this year and when NFL refunds the Patriots 1 million dollar fine. Brady was found guilty by the NFL.
No one here is defending sexual harassment, like they did rapist Jameis. People are questioning why people are bringing up an old story. There is nothing new here. This court document was prepared by the woman's attorneys to win her lawsuit. It is biased and sheds no new light on this incident.

Well good thing the NFL isnt a court of law, since what the NFL did, according to the court of law was unethical and reversed.
Good comparison though, maybe Brady will pay off the NFL or just guilty people like Peyton and Winston do that?

So this woman walks away from Tennessee without taking her pound of flesh, then files a defamation suit and accepts a settlement, and the carebears are out in full force now after Peyton wins his 2nd Superbowl and is likely to retire?
Don't accept the settlement if you want the truth to come out. Don't walk away from Tennessee if you want your pound of flesh.
It seems every media outlet is piggybacking on this and trying to make a story out of it in the last 24 hours.
This woman, based on her actions, wasn't willing to deal with the drama at Tennessee, and only said "enough" when Peyton dragged her name into his book. And then, instead of fighting until a verdict was rendered, settled out of court.
At what point does the public respect her wishes?
Seems obvious she wishes everyone would shutup about it so she can move on with her life. And Peyton didn't pay her money because he did nothing wrong. But those two parties reached an agreement on this issue.
Did it involve anyone else personally? Glad it can be a news story and get some publicity for a crappy paper though. This is the same paper that called Trump supporters "mindless zombies" on their front page. It's a rag.
And for the record, this is the "facts" document from her attorney's side. Wouldn't call it objective.

Reading comprehension is obviously not your strong suit. What don't you understand separating the PLAYER from the PERSON? If we rooted for the PERSON in sports we would have very little, if no one to root for.
Roth - allegedly raped a girl - can't root for him
Kobe - see above

Ray Lewis - allegedly murdered someone - can't root for him

The reasons are ENDLESS on why someone shouldn't root for a PERSON if they so choose.....but as a PLAYER it's totally different. I do not care what they do off the field....I am not their friend, I am not their parent, I am not their guidance counselor, I am a fan of a team who I want to win. This OBVIOUSLY makes you a racist and a fan of battering women since Ty Cobb was racist throughout his playing days and choked a woman as well.

I know you are trying to make a point but putting Tom Brady in a list of rapists and murderers is so stupid. Not to mention you are a 100% wrong, your arguement doesnt make sense.
Brady had a baby out of wedlock = raping or beating a woman?
Log off dude
Well, DUDE, it's called making a point. None of these are the same or equal. Just giving reason on why a person MAY NOT root for someone.
None of these have anything to to do with the other. Also funny you pinpointed Tom Brady and not the fact I brought up Tim Tebow which by far is the "One of these things is not like the other" winner.
You stating "Brady had a baby out of wedlock EQUALS raping or beating a woman?" Is your statement, not mine. Never COMPARED the two, just provided examples on why someone may not root for a person.
Don't understand that? Maybe it's time you log off.

In your profile it mentions you have a PC of Ty Cobb.
This OBVIOUSLY makes you a racist and a fan of battering women since Ty Cobb was racist throughout his playing days and choked a woman as well.
Let's not forget you must HATE handicapped people because Ty Cobb once choked a handicapped person as well.
So I guess it would be fair to call you a racist, handicapped hating, woman abuser.
No it would not. You are none of those things.

Know part of that is in jest but obviously it's true. Never seen such quiet from some writers on twitter when the initial HGH story broke and the other stuff started to come in. We've seen players in baseball be keep out of the HOF and smeared for less from their colleagues.

It’s important to understand what the 74-page document is, and what it isn’t. The 74-page document is a piece of advocacy. The 74-page document is something that was written by the lawyers representing Jamie Ann Naughright in her defamation case against the Mannings. The 74-page document is one-sided.
The 74-page document is NOT a court order or any other decision made by a neutral party. The 74-page document is incomplete without comparing it to the corresponding “Facts of the Case” document submitted by the defendants in the case.

I agree, I think the biggest thing is the whole throwing people under the bus side of it. We all make mistakes and mess up, no one is perfect or expecting anyone else to be, but lying and getting others in trouble or damaging their reputations is kind of horrible, if any of that is true.

Out of the blue? If you're really dumb enough to think this was all brought up "out of the blue", then there's not much more to say about you. This is a classic example of bringing someone down when they're on top, something our modern society loves to do.

I'm watching ESPN right now and they went to the studio to do a developing story talking about him "putting his genitals on her face". Apparently there's a lawsuit against UT and he's being referenced in it.

Good thing I am not. King is a known fraud that I have commented on before on non sports issues and sites elsewhere
Gotcha, didn't know it was so widely known he is a terrible source.
Either way, this is annoying. Now two years in a row the SB winning QB is getting crapped on by all the haters.

At the end of the day I think this is what it comes down to, people have been waiting for anything to bring these guys down. Now, it is still quite clear that people want to bring down Brady much more than anyone else but I think the motives are pretty much the same
Lets just take it at face value until proven otherwise, no?
An editorial isn't admissible as hard evidence, and an unsealed court document that is entirely one side of the story is not something that should be blindly accepted "just because". That's not how my mind works, I am not a reactionary, I wait until all evidence is provided before my mind is made up about a particular situation.
Maybe. I admittedly don't know crap about the source, I just hate jumping on the source first as the initial action. It a annoying tactic
Tom Brady is a pederast, accept what I wrote at full face value or else you're slandering my character as a journalist, I even have my own lawyer's letterhead and dissertation to prove it from my own accusations and case pertaining to the issue.
See how ludicrous that standard is?

Brady's thing was the most ridiculous witch hunt I've seen in sports. Made the NFL look ridiculous. Manning has some serious "scandals" going on. I don't believe them, but hgh shipments and sexual assault are real issues.

no argument here sir, still cannot believe the story ever occured
As for Peyton, if any of it ends up being true, I would say they are pretty serious as well. Unlike ESPN and the league I will wait for actual proven facts, not Mort's tweets.

Was everyone just waiting on Manning's storybook ending to begin crapping on him? I'm not saying its something that shouldn't be brought up or anything, but why wait 17 years to start reporting?
Apparently the goon story hit after certain media obligations were done with...so if he's done a lot of outlets are done with him I suppose and can air out things they wouldn't have before.

This is exactly like all the Pats fans saying Wells is not credible due to his previous investigations. Lets just take it at face value until proven otherwise, no? Im sure most sources have reasons to not be credible based on past one way or another.
Why exactly should it be taken at face value? Because you said so?.... This situation is nothing like Wells/Deflategate, that's just a silly comparison.
As other members have pointed out and provided facts, King's character, bias and credibility are incredibly suspect at best in not only his past, but in this situation. He digs up a decade+ old story, presents the victim's side of the story and only the victim's side, and it just so happens to be when Peyton is pretty much the hottest name in all of sports.
If some want to make a mental note to hang on to this story and wait to see what else comes of it, if anything, that's fine, but on the flip side it's absolutely valid at this point to question the writer, his past, his credentials and his motives.

I guess my point is, lets wait to get all the data points, facts, articles, etc, before we resort to attacking the source or who wrote the article. Feel like its a shallow argument. And no, the Wells comparison is not that far-fetched considering a previous investigation he had done was set up to have a defined conclusion. But even with him, lets at least see what his facts say, compare them to others, and form a logical conclusion, not just immediately discredit him.

At the end of the day, a lot of us made judgments about Brady and the Patriots without hard proof that anything illicit ever actually happened. We can suspect without making a final judgment. My hope is that other players might be afforded latitude before we draw conclusions.

The facts of Spygate are still note-worthy and not because of the Patriots, but because of Roger Goodell's botched attempt to save "the integrity of the game" which only came back to bite him in the ass. Deflate gate is nothing more than an attempt by Roger Goodell to right all his wrongs when Spygate occurred and he's failing horribly, as he should be.
Nobody should receive more heat and hatred than Roger Goodell for both Spygate and Deflate gate. Not even the Patriots.

Oh look, another thread/situation that has absolutely zero to do with the Patriots, yet it took not even one page for the brainwashed Patriot apologists to use this as another platform to defend their precious team. You guys are hilarious, you don't shy away from any thread no matter how good or bad the topic is, to say "HEY, LOOK AT US, WE CAN TURN ANY SUBJECT INTO A JUSTIFICATION PIECE ABOUT OUR AWESOME PATRIOTS BEING THE BEST AND THEY NEVER CHEATED BECAUSE WE BELIEVE THEY DIDNT."
Good show, golf claps all around. Someone could start a thread about a purple and green mushroom growing out of a dog turd that they ate and started tripping balls to the point where they ended up on a planet full of amazon women who feed you steak and lobster while giving you an entire body massage while Jerry Garcia played Sugar Magnolia live... And the Blowout Mafia (affectionately known as violent BM's) Pat fans would jump in to tell you how Kraft actually supplied the dirt the dog crapped in and the only reason the shroom was so good is because The Hoody blessed the puppy upon birth and Brady once bought the dog a flea collar.

Not dumb at all.....I'll back him up....Manning is the GOAT. If put to a poll Brady would definitely win because this board is definitely Boston heavy so don't bother taking that route.
To each their own.

I don't have a dog in this fight but... Brady only has one NFL passing record. 50 TD's in a season. Peyton has 49 BTW.
Outside of that these are Peyton's all time #1 records
71,940 yards passing in career.
3,739 passing rookie record.
Most passing TD's by a rookie (26)
Most Passes Attempted, Rookie, Season (575)
Most Passes Completed, Rookie, Season (326)
Most Games, Four or More Touchdown Passes, Season (6)
Most Consecutive Games, Four or More Touchdown Passes (5)
Highest Passer Rating, Season (121.1)
2nd place all time (some are ties)
Most Consecutive Seasons Leading League (3. Brady 0)
Highest Passer Rating, Career (1,500 attempts) (94.7)
Most Games, 400 or More Yards Passing, Career (7)
Most Seasons Leading League TD's (3)
Most Touchdown Passes, Season (49, 1 behind Brady)
Brady has 1 record and came in 2nd (Most Games, Four or More Touchdown Passes, Season) one time. And that was behind Peyton manning.
If we were asking who the GOAT Post Season QB was I'd take Brady over Peyton (but behind Montana) But if we are talking the GOAT QB, why would someone who has never been the best at anything in a career, or even season, except one record, be considered over the one that holds eight?
For the record Sid Luckman holds twice the all time records of Brady and three times as many 2nd place ones :coffee:
