PSA Certifying Trimmed Cards Again
 

I’ll make this brief. Sold a 2018 Topps Update #285 Shohei Ohtani Independence Day /76 in April raw. Auction ended at $785. It had some light edging. The Light hits in listing pic but looked like grade 7/8. I set up notification for that card to see what they sell for and when they get listed. I see mine listed again last week (#64/76) as a PSA grade 9 and lost my mind. I registered for the forum to post about it but the next day it got pulled. The card has been trimmed along the right hand edge and the top edge. My only hope was someone caught it. But my biggest aggravation is PSA certifying a trimmed card as a 9. It’s undersize now I measured it before I sold it even tho I was original owner. Well my deceased uncle was. PSA is always going to get away with grading and certifying trimmed cards it seems.

Nothing new here. There are literally hundreds or thousands of trimmed cards in all the major companies cases

I don’t see why ppl keep playing the game especially with it clearly being undersize now. Maybe ppl need to just get burned one good time. At any rate I wouldn’t recommend purchasing 64/76 for this particular Independence Day card.

Odds are that it’s the trimmer.

Same seller that was moving the trimmed pitching version early in the year. Maybe the same consignor (trimmer)?

Almost certainly. I suspect many of that consigners high end graded items are from a single source.
