Hold or Sell: Noah Syndergaard

Syndergaard's prices all obviously at an all time high right now. Is it time to sell?

Looking for opinions!

Sell IMO.

High walk rates, combined with a 6'6" frame. Looking at history, very few pitchers at that size have success. He is just too large to repeat his delivery with any expectation to lower his walks. Over ranked among the top 50 prospects IMO.

Scratch that, I was not looking at the correct numbers in regard to his walk rate. His size is still an issue to me though and at current prices, I would not hold.

Dude's a beast- his height is to his advantage..some of the top SP prospects, Giolito, Stephenson, i believe are all in the 6'4"+ range.

Power thrower, tons of K's. From what i recall last season (w/o looking it up), he only had one poor game where he got rocked. And unfortunaly it was his last regular season game. Possibly just tired from a long season.

I'd certainly hold. I know i am.

What about Wacha, Randy Johnson, and Lance Lynn?

hagausaf 02-25-2014 12:46 PM

Def a keeper for me right now. With the NY market backing him his cards have room to grow with another great season

ctbinvestments 02-25-2014 02:21 PM

At current prices I'd be selling and buying twice as many Giolito's. What would he have to do to substain a $60 value in the majors? I understand the NY market has a factor but Wheeler was regarded as a better pitcher and his don't bring that much anymore and he's not Matt Harvey (when healthy). I don't see a huge window for upside here. Giolito can be a top 10 overall prospect next year and double from current values. I just don't see the same for Syndergaard.

Nickclark1988 02-25-2014 02:52 PM

I wouldn't sell at this point. Believe me I'm a huge mets fan and I live in New York. Everyone around here loves this kid. Why not wait till he hits big leagues? I wouldn't be worried about a bad spring training. There going to give this kid every chance to get to the bigs.

Im keepin!

tajikey 02-25-2014 03:16 PM

I just listed the only Syndergaard I own...could use the cash toward a nice Zunino or two.

Wheeler is no longer considered a prospect so naturally that kills values unless he pulls a CY season this year. Syndergaard prices can and will certainly bloat more with another dominant year as the hype train is in full steam. I think he'll surprise and become a serious contender for best pitcher in the minors. However I do agree that Lucas is a better investment right now

freddyb 02-25-2014 03:51 PM

HOLD- he is in NY and the minute he gets called up, before he even throws a pitch, there will be a bump

ctbinvestments 02-25-2014 03:57 PM
HOLD- he is in NY and the minute he gets called up, before he even throws a pitch, there will be a bump
SELL- he is in NY and the minute he gets called up, after he throws a pitch, value will be cut in half if he loses or doesn't throw a shutout.

EDIT: Out of all of the pitchers who have been called up over the years...How many have actually "gained value" from when they were a top prospect in the minors vs. how many have declined. You can probably count on 1 hand how many have increased. Play the odds and sell if you can make a profit now.

If you're not a fan, SELL NOW..

Haha, that's a good one. Oh wait, you're serious?!? Is it auto'd? If so I'll gladly trade you every Zunino i own for your last Syndy!

Unfortunately it is not, but fortunately, it's numbered to 5, so hopefully I get a bite or two (I inflated the price to see what kind of offers I get). And I assume you're laughing because what kind of fool would trade a low-numbered Syndergaard for anything Zunino. Well, my friend, I am a Mariner fan, and my favorite player happens to be Zunino.

That's all that matters...if you're a fan I understand completely. If Needchapmans liked Syndergaard you could probably get some real nice Zuninos for it.

Ha ha ha...ain't that the truth!

tigers3735 02-25-2014 06:05 PM

I would hold. Maybe would sell around the time he gets called up

knicksguy86 02-25-2014 06:11 PM

I'm a fan so I'm keeping my chrome autos..
Selling the sterling though. Every year I saw the same thing about sterling " why do I do buy this" LOL

jbmets95 02-25-2014 06:11 PM

100% correct

If i wasnt a huge mets fan (hence my username) i would sell all my Syndy's

He is definitley getting a lot of hype

Adam Rubin the mets pr guy and twitter guy is so funny abt syndy

More Noah Syndergaard stalking: pic.twitter.com/eB2NpFXvbC

Tried an artsy shot of Fred Wilpon and Saul Katz watching Noah Syndergaard. Think I pulled it off: pic.twitter.com/QoOXBBpKVE

Anyway, I had two refrac autos /500 and have sold one

I am selling like 25% and keeping the rest just b/c im a mets fan

Lets not forgot in the RA Dickey trade D'arnaud was the main piece but Syndy has a sick year last year

I think D'arnaud prices can rise A LOT
If you're not a fan, SELL NOW..
centereacan06 02-25-2014 06:23 PM

Hold at least until he gets called up, which should be this season. I don't see him imploding in the minors or anything that will cause his prices to drop significantly.

jbmets95 03-03-2014 03:10 PM

Loved what i say again today!!!

MiamiDolfan007 03-03-2014 04:02 PM

I'm selling now without hesitation

Wrightfan85 03-03-2014 04:55 PM

Hold absolutely. Earliest I would sell would be when he gets called up but being a Mets home, I would possibly wait until next year.

By the way, Adam Rubin is a beat reporter not the PR guy.
