Now I just consider a 9 the new 10

Honestly, I just wish I knew what changed. What are they looking for now? Did they change a requirement? PSA 10’s are now about as common as BGS black labels. Does a card have to be 50/50/50/50 plus perfect elsewhere to be considered?

The only thing I can think of is that the centering or surface requirement has dramatically changed (you can’t get better than a perfect corner or edge) but not been made public. The website states: “not to exceed approximately 55/45 to 60/40 percent on the front, and 75/25 percent on the reverse.” This certainly is NOT what they use to grade.

Surface? Again—here’s their website definition: “but an allowance may be made for a slight printing imperfection.” Simply put, the graders do NOT know this definition.

If they changed this to “a PSA 10 need to be all things perfect AND be subject to a 1-2 grade population-control limit deduction at our disgression” they need to be transparent and publish it. THIS is how they are grading now and that needs to be made public. That way people can stop wasting their time trying to find/preserve 10’s.

1 PSA 10 in a 65-card order of modern chrome cards? Please…
