Going back to your perfect illustration of the two spaghetti places. At some point people are going to say, do I want to pay $XX amount for this or $XXX for something that is a little better? The overpriced item prices people out and if they really want something they will go for the better value, or bang for the buck. This isn't rocket science.

Good grief, even Elite football is going crazy. Dang you Judge!!! In the words of Cris Carter... C'Mon Man.

This is exactly where I am right now. The price difference between retail and hobby has reached the point that retail is the better buy----at least for me.

Yup... all of the 4 P's of Marketing are valuable but that Price will make or break you every time.

Where are they going to go? I mean, I understand your point about some collectors being priced out but I don't think you are speaking for enough collectors who make a difference in determining supply and demand of the hobby boxes and cases. Jumbo boxes are flying off ebay at $290+ now- those are not being sold to investors or dealers - those are collectors willing to pay $300 on the chance at a judge auto. Topps heritage is usually about $75 per box at this time - now they are $150+ for the same reason - to pull some form of a Judge RC. AJ has transformed how we should think. As long as he keeps it up, all of us better be ready to adapt.

Those with deep pockets stay- everyone else gets a target red card and pays $19 for blasters.

For past bowman I agree. But I am willing to bet that a huge percentage of the buyers of jumbos at $300 per are not people with deep pockets but a mom or dad buying a box for their kid or kids.

My wife's friend - who couldn't care less about baseball - asked my wife if I could sell two Aaron Judge cards to her to give to her nephews for graduation. Just saying that AJ transcends the past.

If mom and dad are buying $300 boxes online for little Timmy to open, they have deep pockets.

My parents were happy to buy me cards for my birthday or Christmas when I was younger, in the form of a blaster box or some loose packs.

Judge will have a RC and auto in Ginter, right? Odds Bellinger has a RC?

The preorder prices for Chrome, Heritage High Number and Update are already beyond the point where it makes sense to bust a few boxes to put together a set. I'll probably just end up buying a complete set from one of the big breakers now and calling it a day.
I'll be giving up the part of the hobby I enjoy the most due to the current market spike, but on the bright side I'll actually be saving some money overall. So, yay?

Did a write up on another thread here with Big April call ups the past few years.

All landed in Stadium Club first, except bryant who was rushed into Finest as a SP/Redemption.

Bellinger is in Platinum which is a gimmick. It is highly likely he is in Club and Ginter. If you said which one WONT he be in out of those 3 I would guess club, purely on the photography (He was a very late april call up and plays on the west coast...Topps stationed in NY...not that they couldn't pay someone).

Why is Blowout selling blasters of Heritage for $35? I can just get them for 19.99 at Walmart, this makes no sense. That's $20 more dollars if you include shipping.

Perfect! I know I'm in a minority, but I love The 'Club and have done well with it...

Unless big breakers are buying out stores of all their Heritage inventory.

That's the one warning I do have about the whole situation - everyone assumes cheap retail is accessible to the casual collector.

In my area, you can get all the Heritage and Bowman you want, every Target and Walmart (which is probably close to 15 in a 10-15 mile range) have Hangers, Blasters, Fat Packs, etc. I'm pretty sure everything is searched, but the Blasters are good

Im pretty out in the sticks but all my areas are dried up on Archives/Heritage. IMO, with heritage.....its not even close to worth it with the walmart blasters anyhow. Needle in a haystack with any retail really.

Just posted in the 2017 retail thread ... I'm on vacation, and just passed up 74 gravity feed packs (yes, I counted them) at a local Target. May go back and get them, but I am pretty lazy.

I don't know much about searching but when all the cards are pushed up to the middle (bowman, heritage, archives fat packs), 1/2 way in, I know someone was looking. And the hangers are bent on the corner, so someone pinched them to look in. I would think you can only see relics, chromes, etc, but autos may be tough with hangers, but not with regular packs. Even the Upper Deck Hockey packs have been sliced a little so you can see the numbers of the cards inside the packs. Shady stuff.....
