I'd really like to see the team let Murphy walk. To be honest, I've never really been a big fan of his and think the money spent on him could be better allocated elsewhere. He was a huge part in the Mets making it as far as they did this year, but think the time has come where he and the Mets finally part ways.

I know he's a polarizing figure as some really like him and others don't at all, but I think the Dilson Herrera era has begun. After getting a chance to watch him nearly all year in Vegas I think he will be a solid big league 2B in the years to come. I know that the PCL has a tendency to inflate offensive numbers, but after actually being in attendance to see him, I think he's got the ability to surprise people with his play. Sure, he didn't have the greatest showing in the world in his time up in 2014 and 2015, but keep in mind that he is still the same age as 2015 college draftees and has 149 big league at bats under his belt.

Sandy Alderson and Terry Collins will address reporters at 11 am ET on Wednesday at Citi Field, the team announced.

Alderson met with Collins on Tuesday, at which time the manager’s contract was addressed, according to the NY Post (Nov. 3, 12:23 pm).

\It is very probable that we are losing our 3 and 4 hitters. How do you guys think that we can replace them shall they not resign? In house options or a big bat free agent?

Has to be a free agent bat. What is Herrera gonna hit next year? .240?

I don't understand why everyone likes Herrera. I know he is a way better defender than Murphy but Murphy can freaking hit.

Exactly. We know this team can pitch and we know this lineup is weak. The 2016 Mets need a guy like Murphy who can play 1st, 2nd and 3rd

I think a guy like Denard Span would be a nice addition to the outfield. Seems like a good clubhouse guy that can hit, field and run

Whats everyone's thoughts on Duda?

Personally I like him as a player but as the entire world knows, he is the streakiest hitter out there. With the Mets possibly losing 2 huge bats, it is looking like he will be our cleanup hitter (Unless Sandy pulls a solid FA signing). When your cleanup leader goes in 2-45 slumps every other month, it is not a successful method. He hasn't been awful in the field (cue World Series losing throw hatred) but he hasn't been above average either.

I have been hearing a lot of Harvey/Duda/OtherPlayer for Goldschmidt trade talks by fans. I am no expert in the Arizona Diamondbacks but that does not seem like something they would even consider. Right now I assume Duda has little to no trade value and imo a position player is valued more than a starting pitcher no matter how good Harvey can be. Plus Goldschmidt is right up there with Harper and Trout so I can't imagine Arizona looking to unload him.

What about giving D'Arnaud some games at first like we did with Murph against fast running teams since we know he does not throw runners out too well. Or will that end up as well as moving Piazza to first late in his career?

Herrera will hit. He's only 21.

I probably wouldn't make him the starting second baseman just yet though. Start with Wilmer and than ease Herrera in slowly.

We go Dilson Herrera in that deal so I'd say it wasn't.

We got Blake Taylor for Ike, right? 2nd round lefty drafted out of high school. Got Tommy John this summer, but still a lot of potential (see Steven Matz).

@Ken_Rosenthal: Sources: The #Rockies have discussed internally the possibility of signing free agent Daniel Murphy to play first base.
