I don't think it's as much "shifting" as it is grief. I realize that is hypocritical as there are members banned everyday that we couldn't possibly care less about but it's just how the world works. He was a valuable member even though he had plenty of bad traits that rubbed some people the wrong way. Every single one of us realizes that Deathy did this to himself but that doesn't mean we can't be bummed about it and people lash out when grieving even if unjustified. Also, I realize that it makes zero difference at the end of the day but the thought of a newbie getting the snowball rolling vs a veteran doing it matters to me. It's stupid I know but it's how I feel.

If I quoted just one of his worst posts, 99% of you would want me banned for letting him stay this long - especially his greatest supporters. If you doubt me, pick someone (like jmscoggins for example) and I will let him see the post. He can then tell you if I am speaking the truth.

i'd love to see the post, just so I can have an "I was there" moment to tell my kids.

You know better than that. There are plenty of circles in this place and secrets rarely if ever stay that way. Agreed that the mods wouldn't tell him direct but you're being naive if you think it hasn't been revealed to somebody and ultimately gotten back to Deathy. Doesn't matter here though as has been said many times, ultimately it is his own actions that gave the reporter ammo, whoever it was.

2 members reported it - both veterans with a combined 13yrs on the forum with thousands of posts each.

Only a mod or admin would know this and one person reported it via pm so only I know that. Unless you think a mod or admin has told him, he does not know.

The two members that reported the heinous posts that got him banned should be praised not admonished.

If you had been banned before and suspended several times given a longer rope than any other member in history. Yet your still cracking rape jokes? You wanna know what happened to D2R? He got himself Banned, how can anyone else be blamed for it.

Nope. Never said anywhere in this thread that he was blameless. I don't blame the mods for banning him, even though I disagree. But snitches are worse. And snitches that let others take the blame are worse worse.

I know his history, but he wasn't banned for scamming. His post got him banned.
He did add alot good to this community, so can we look at something along the MLB scale. 30 days, 90 days, 120 days ...forever!

I understand his jokes aren't liked by most. But he never took anyones money and transactions were good.
Yeah, I like him. But he posted without thinking. Not a scammer. And has more good influence on this forum, than negative.

Just my thoughts and post.

he was previously banned for very similar behavior. got unbanned with the promise that he would cut it out. he didn't. got banned again

No one's asking for restitution, they're asking for an environment without that content. Which I don't think is unreasonable. I think people saying this isn't a big deal aren't understanding how offensive the comments were. It was in the top 99.99999% of offensive-ness. No one here is asking for any kind of mass censorship. Those rape jokes were at the very tippy tip top of the mountain when it comes to being inappropriate.

It took me a while to figure out his humor, a few years ago I'm sure I reported 1 or 2 of his offensive posts.

I understand it can be upsetting to lose a forum friend, but there is no place for some of the things D2R posted.

No, not really. I actually enjoy crafting debate within certain confines. It usually uncovers those that have limited abilities to think without falling back on four letter words. Many of these guys are exactly that and I've never even heard of a majority of them. They're just coming out to talk crap on someone that can't defend themselves and then they'll fade back into the shadows to contribute exactly zero to these forums.

I deleted the first couple of words as it was an attempt to stir drama and I detest drama. I completely agree with everything else though. There have been some solid points and concerns raised by many and I won't dare to say there weren't valid criticisms.
