Default Paying "Less than eBay"/Not paying "More than eBay"

These are two of the phases that I hate to read to most when I open the thread as there are so many different ways to interpret it. This could mean;

1. If there is one up actively listed, I am looking to pay less. Otherwise I would just buy that one.

2. There are none active and looking to pay less than what the last one sold for/not willing to pay more than that one.

3. I looked back through the entire eBay sale history and am expecting to get it lower than the cheapest one sold.

Personally it should be #1 but time and time again I get responses with for example as it happened quiet recently on another forum site. A card that last sold for $156, and right around the same price point on 3 other occasions sold 2 months ago for $93, and wants it less... what do you think it means when you read it?

I can't stand your reason #2. There are a lot of reasons that could cause the last and only card with a value on EBay to not be something currently reasonable or the basis for its bottom line price. Can't stand when people use that as the bottom. And then act like the market is so liquid they can buy that card for that price anytime they wanted to.

Trust me it drives me nuts too haha. Like i said I was selling a card and the guy paying less than ebay, last one went $156 so I offered it to him for $140 shipped and he came back and I quote "Learn to read, I cleared said I am not paying more than ebay, completed listing has one selling at $93 (2 months ago)"

You should add an option with average of most recent complete sales, preferably auctions. If anything, you could probably eliminate high and low and go with the average or median

It means I'm not selling jack to whoever is looking or asking. Maybe if I was desperate for fast cash, but eBay sales are a guide nothing more. Can you take an average if there 10 copies sold? Sure, newer stuff is easy to know a fair price range for. But most of what people like to quote eBay for are the rare cards that hardly show up.

For example I got a 98 Charles Woodson Ruby RC for $199 BIN, does that mean it's now worth $180? $170? $160? No... GTFO with that.

People try way too hard on here to be a "Pawn Star" guru. Reality is most "negotiations" I see on the BST are laughable at best with all the "take .50 or $.1.00 off an I'll take it"...

I stop caring so I just post up cards with MY price.
Example: That Myles Turner auto I have in the sells thread...LOL $40.

I have a question as well

If I am selling a card and there is not another copy for sale on Ebay then can you please, for the love of god and all mankind, explain to me how you can get it cheaper on EBAY?

This is one of my pet peeves!! If you're (not you, just a person in general) looking to buy and make a thread, you shouldn't expect a deal. You're the one looking! If a deal happens great, if not oh well. If it's for your PC you sometimes need to be willing to pay fair market value or even more (depending on how bad you want it!!)!!! The rare exception to this is if you clearly state that you have money and you're looking for resale lot/card. That way you are usually helping someone move cards they don't want and you can make some coin by doing the work they don't want to! Everyone wins!!

Now if someone makes a sale thread I have no problem with prospective buyers not wanting to by eBay prices

if i ever try to buy below ebay its only because i take out the fees, ebay fees are roughly 10% so take that out (if I'm not mistaken, paypal fees will be there either way) so i would pay 90 on a card that sold for 100 on ebay, that way i save a little and the seller gets paid the same as they would have if they sold on ebay

That's why I just buy on eBay.
Much easier then trying to buy on here 75% of the time

For a more common card, I will typically average the three most recent ebay sales and use that as a baseline. For rarer cards, this becomes...difficult.

To say the least. I have a 1/1 for sale that went over $525 on the bay. I have had one SERIOUS offer for $300. WTH is up with that?

In all actuality I know what the issue is now. People on here don't have money. The few who do are very direct and to the point and are fair. The rest don't have much to spend and want a Brady contenders auto for $20.

It's a sense of entitlement. They are spending money (no matter the amount), so they expect the world for it.
