Default Buyer what_the_dunk29 - idiot abusing the returns policy!

This dude won my auction on ebay and filed a return the day warriors lost the spurs

Here is the chain of events

- 30 mins before auction ended, dude sends me a flurry of messages asking abt the card. Asked if card for sale is the one pictured. I said yes. Then asked if there is serious damage on the edges, i said no and said its.exactly as in the scan. I then told him NOT to bid on my item if he expects a bgs10 card. And repeated again as i fear the worst. To my horror. He won the auction and immediately said to me "looking forward to get the card!"

- card was packaged and mailed the next day. This card was pulled fr a free box of 0910 retail UD 4-5 years ago and always in a top loader. I sent out exact card in the scan. And card honestly do not gave any problems

- one fine morning. This idiot message me saying its a diff card fr the picture and its badly damaged. The pictures he sent me does not clearly show the damage on the corners he is talking abt due to reflections and one picture shows the card is curling. That is totally impossible as card is in a super thin top loader for the past few years. How can it possibly bend?

- he then became teally defensive, accusing me of sending a different card and lying that the card is mint. Im seriously pissef at this pt. Reported the buyer immed and then replied to the case with the facts

- ebay just emailed siding the buyer and i would need to do the return and sent was different from the one in the picture

Im utterly disgusted now. Seriously

Pls pls pls ban this idiot

:-(

Bend over and deal with it. It's a no win situation for sellers.

Yeah unfortunately there's not much you can do. That's why I've pretty much quit selling cards on eBay. I'd rather sell them on here a little cheaper for the peace of mind.

I bet he switched it out with his bent copy. I don't trust any low feedback bidders at all. Intact I wouldn't even bother selling on eBay anymore. Buyers have figured out a great scam.. Buy a card you own thats damaged, then return yours for a mint copy thats for sale.

My thoughts exactly. That is just terrible how Ebay keeps allowing all this corruption to take place.

You can file a police report and get the money back from ebay.

I did it before and got my money back. It was a $600 sale.

Should have blocked him after the message(s).
But yes, eBay/paypal's return structure makes it SO EASY for buyers/scammers to take advantage. And his is exactly why I was trying to warn people selling in the Curry craze. Non-numbered cards selling for massive prices, people were always going to get burnt.

I sold a card in eBay. Buyer asked for refund 3 weeks later. I had no choice but to issue refund and asked him to ship it back to me.

When I got the card, the condition was worse than before. I asked PayPal what I needed to do. PayPal told me to file a police report.

I went to the police station and asked for the report. I was not asking them to be the judge. I just needed someone to record my words.

After sending in the report, I got money back 3 days later.

The sooner sellers jump ship from eBay, the better.

Good luck man, hope you get your actual card back.

If the city is the same, maybe this is the person? Based on his twitter and his eBay profile, he likes shoes. I think it is the same person.

Just remember that even though paypal or eBay rules in the buyer's favor, that is not the law or the end of the issue. If you ship something to someone and then they damage it and try to return it this is considered "destruction of personal property" its just a matter of you following through with the police on filing the report and attempting to press charges. This is just like if the dude walked up to your car and hit it with a hammer, you have the right to file a police report and present that report to eBay and or paypal.

Here is a link to an eBay testimonial of a guy being ripped off by a buyer for a piece of art and the steps he took to get his money back.

Sorry to hear OP. Here is a link to my thread detailing my experience over a very similar manner. I did eventually get money refunded as well like Xavier mentioned above
