Default 1954 Bowman Mantle

I have a 1954 Bowman Mantle that i bought probably 30 years ago. I am looking for a good holder for it. I dont plan on getting it graded and it is a little larger than the modern cards. I would like to save it for my son to have. Any suggestions?

Actually, I think grading it would be your best bet. If you're not comfortable with shipping it out, wait for one of the grading companies to come to a show near you so they could grade it and encapsulate it on the spot.

What would be my best grading option PSA or Beckett? I am planning on going to a show north of Boston in 2 weeks.

I like SGC personally, but if you just want to preserve it use any of them.

My vote is also SGC, but if that isn't an option and only BGS or PSA are, then PSA is the choice for vintage

BGS will encapsulate on the spot for Natl. SGC does the same at several different shows. I don't think PSA encapsulates cards on-site, at least not at the shows I have attended. If you plan to hang on to it my vote would be SGC. If you are considering selling it at some point then I would go with PSA. Can you post a scan of the card? I think it's awesome that you have it and I would love to take a look at it.

I just checked and PSA, Beckett, and SGC will all be at the card show near Boston. None of them are doing any onsite but will accept submissions at the show. Wonder if they will offer any deals?

I also have a 1968 Nolan Ryan and a 1969 Reggie Jackson that I also bought about 30 years ago.

Also check my COMC. Even if you don't use COMC I can have cards shipped.

Yeah, they offer free shipping one way. You don't have to pay a shipping fee to send it in. Other than that I don't know about any deals.

PSA is the most recognized company for graded vintage. They also have some of the best prices. I would NOT go BGS for vintage, either sgc or psa.

Yes. That's the one.
I have never been. Sounds like it is fairly large.

i know the GBSSC (or whatever the letters are) is a better attended show. i have heard mixed reviews on the altman show.

Doesn't hurt to take a look though.

Find some stuff you like, cool.

Don't see anything you like, money saved for another day. Win-win!

I'm thinking about taking a drive, we'll see.

I can have it done for $10 thru my bulk submissions
ive had several people send them in what an iconic card
it can be graded or just slabbed
BGS cases offer uv protection as well

Such an underrated card. My father-in-law has one, and I hope he gives it to me one day

The corners look good on it. As others have said, I would slab it through PSA or BGS.
