This industry thrives off of people's lack of knowledge. For a product that releases after the playoffs start this is a joke to have the "top" rookie card feature players wearing the same numbered jersey. Panini could easily get game worn jerseys throughout the season in plenty of time to use them. One jersey for each player should be plenty of material to make all of the RPA's for the product. Not every RPA needs a sick 5 color 40 break mojo patch.

There should be a stickied thread about this.

So all RPAs are event-worn or "player-worn"?

Thanks,
Vincent

Majority, yes. Only Flawless was game-worn for rookies last year.

In NT I believe so. Flawless uses game worn for rookies but sells for less than a generic 88 event worn jersey RPA that is much more plentiful and comes from a product costing much less. Just goes to show you how prevalent the sheep mentality is in this hobby.

It is player worn.

Also, the jersey mostly is 3XL size.

Like NoleinJax already mentioned, Panini literally and figuratively banks on a significant chunk of customers to be in the dark about it.

If I collected patch and jersey cards there is no way I would ever want any of the event worn stuff, especially out of expensive products.

I think the real amazement comes in when people who are aware/become aware of this practice have their spending habits unaffected. True insanity.

Using #88 also gets the most "patch" material out of each jersey.

Event-worn should be looked at like a custom novelty.

Remember when game-worn was the only option for jersey/patch, and cards were so much better, in general?

Yeah didn't realize this but makes sense after I saw a D'Angelo Russell number patch that was clearly the center of an "o" when he wears no. 1.

Doesn't surprise me though since panini has and always continues to behind Upper Deck NBA even 7 years later. You would think product would get better over time. Not worse.

They aren't in football, another seemingly misleading ploy by Panini. Let it be known basketball are game used, but release a football version of the same set that are only player worn and keep that quiet...

The number 8 has the most surface area for the non-game-worn patches ... so the numbers don't make any sense at all or pertain to anything whatsoever. I think if more people realized how ridiculous this is, prices would show it. But so many people just assume all jerseys/patches are game worn

Yeah either at events Panini hosts or are at, they give players jerseys to put on for one quick second then take off, and then it's cut up and put into these high-end cards being "event-worn"

I remember those old Donruss COAs on the back of game-used cards that showed and mini-photograph of the ACTUAL memorabilia that was used.

Panini takes every short-cut in the book to increase profits. I don't blame them ... they're a business, and the buyers keep on buying!

It's is hilarious just to imagine an event in which everyone wears #88 jersey.

That's why I haven't gone after any Winston's from NT or Flawless. Just not worth it in my eyes.

I still don't see. Aaaahhhhh! This is like I can't find Waldo.

It's can't be a green foil error since the border colors match jersey this year.

What is it?
