Question Is the NBA rigged?

I voted no because I love the NBA and I don't want to think that. However, others disagree.

Discuss.

Oops meant to put a poll up. Will try again

I have been wondering the same thing. I would think something would have came out by now though.

Ask Timmy. He came out and told everyone. No one listened.

If they were rigged it would have to go beyond the refs, they don't have enough control to determine games on their own IMO. The players would have to be in on it, maybe paid obscene money to keep their mouths shut. But again, it seems like it would have come out.

Football refs to me have the most ability to fix a game. They can call back any big play they want with a holding call. Can call illegal contact any time they want to give an offense a first down.

Also I actually thought last night was called in the Warriors favor besides a couple calls at the end. Especially in the first half I thought the Cavs were getting killed by the refs. Thought the game before was slightly in the Warriors favor as well.

I don't think NBA is rigged, I'd pretty much guarantee it.

It is sports entertainement. While I don't think that the games are rigged in the sense that the outcome is predetermined, I do think in some situations the league will do what they can to skew things a certain way to try to get an outcome that is beneficial for them. While there have been some fishy things the last 2 games, the Warriors have been ice cold overall, especially on wide open looks. I know they won't do it, but I think a day away from basketball for the whole team would do them good. No practice. No film work. These teams know each other and it will hopefully come down to the best team winning Sunday without any perceived manipulations. I do think Curry has to be the least respected MVP ever when it comes to getting calls.

I wouldn't say rigged. Influenced to a certain degree, yes, but I don't believe that the outcomes are decided ahead of time.

Gotta play like an MVP to earn respect and get calls like one.

He's not even the MVP of his own team right now.

I don't want to say rigged, but last night, some of the Warriors turnovers just seemed very weird to me. Like they couldn't make those turnovers if they were trying to. Just seemed very weird.

When a game can be decided and or controlled by the actions of an official or referee then you clearly have a mechanism as to how to effect the outcome of that game, I feel that's why leagues like the NHL suffered as far as ratings and fan interest this season.

Not sure how the TV ratings are for the NBA Finals but would imagine they would be solid as you have two of the leagues marquee players facing each other.

Based on some of the highlights I have seen from this series there has been some questionable calls (or non calls) at critical points of all the games.

When you have a player with the following that Lebron has you can bet he will get more calls in his favor than against, some will attribute that to respect..................................

This......

And as for last nights game.....

25 fouls called on both teams. An edge of three foul shots to Cavs, who were obviously the dominating, driving team in this game. Only a 3 shot edge is surprising when one team is driving the basket and the other is settling for 3 pointers.....over and over. But the game was rigged. How? With magnets that could pull the ball from the hoop by some sinister wizard hiding in a press box?

I think it can be rigged more by the fouls that are NOT called than the fouls that are called.

Thumbs down

absolutely rigged, the proof is in the pudding folks.

2002 WCF, Lakers were outplayed by the superior Kings and the NBA handed the victory for that series to the Lakers. Any one that thinks otherwise is enjoying the koolaid.

Because of the big mess that ensued, the NBA gave second thought to their tactics and is now rigging games as subtly as they can, but they're still rigging them.

This is why Rodman was getting thrown out of games left and right, but when he signed with the Bulls, aka MJ's team, he was allowed to get away with a lot in the Finals and then after he left the Bulls, it was back to technicals all day every day.

This is why Iverson was always getting into trouble with the refs.

NBA = rigged
Stern = scumbag
Silver = scumbag jr.

The NBA referee committee is not rigid and I consider myself a conspiracy theorist. Does shady stuff go on? Of course it does. With any organization that size, stuff will happen but there are too many moving parts for a"fix" to be occurring. If you don't believe me, just ask yourself this one question...does Adam Silver want to make $100 million off this finals series or infinite money from the next infinite amount of NBA series? Silver wouldn't jeopardize his future earnings just so he could have $50 million now.

There have been finals like OKC-Miami ended in 5 ....even Lebron and Miami only went 5 with the Spurs...wouldn't they want to go at least one more? How Orlando beating Lebron's Cavs which cost the league a Kobe-Lebron finals. People gonna think what they think..but man I can't stand the "refs/nba rigged" excuse. The refs make bad calls? Absolutely...it happens..in every sport...they are human...the action is fast and it's in the heat of the moment.

I say not rigged, but there have been bad apples in the past (Tim Donaghy from 2005-07)

The NBA quickly shoved that under the rug.

I'm sure he's not the only one, especially when millions of dollars are at stake.

There have been times I'm sure that the refs have been bought and paid for. Lakers/Kings was a perfect example. Of course, now that's the go-to solution anytime anything doesn't go someone's way, and it just isn't as widespread as that.

The NBA 'needs' 7 games, so they 'made sure it happened' this time, right? Of course, that doesn't explain why it's only the 3rd game 7 in the past 10 years. It also doesn't explain who bought and paid for Harrison Barnes.

There's not 1 credible reason anybody can come up with as to why the NBA would rig games. If there is I've never heard it.
