Default Hobby talk - How does the Finals win affect prices of Kyrie, Love, Lebron TT etc

My thoughts:

Kyrie had an amazing Finals, showed killer instinct. I think his prices firm up a bit, but may take some sustained play next year for his stuff to get back to rookie year levels.

LeBron - Finals MVP, almost revitalized his career from the Decision. I feel like his stuff should explode, but not sure when. His stuff is definitely rising, I would assume sustained interest but who knows. I do wonder when the rarity of his pro autographs, and them all being Cavs will factor in. I think he won a lot of fans back this year.

Love - I think his Game 7 saved his stuff from dropping off, but I don't see there being much additional interest.

Tristan - Never seemed to get much hobby attention, more of a team guy. May pick up some fans - he was crucial to their success - "Be a star in your role"

JR Smith - I would expect to see an uptick of interest, but his stuff is dirt cheap.

Richard Jefferson - Same as JR

What do you guys think?

also how does it hurt Curry's prices?

I know it's been discussed many prices how much his prices boomed (even more than an MJ auto - I don't get that!) - he is still a champiosnhip playing, reigning MVP, back-to-back MVP etc etc

I'd say your pretty much spot on...

IMO, the only players that really matter here are Lebron/Kyrie. (no offense if anyone collects the others!)

Lebron has definitely solidified his reputation, and we will probably see a rise in card prices. (which were crazy already) That is unless Panini somehow wrestles his contract away from Upper deck, which I hope never happens. (that's how Kobe's/Durant's auto value got killed.)

Kyrie will go up too. He is a scoring machine and collectors love scorers. But then he is under contract with Panini, so in 5 more years he will likely have a bazillion auto's.

as for the others, Love is seen as soft (though he was great last night) TT has no offense, and JR Smith just doesn't have much hobby love.

If your a Curry buyer I'd say wait another couple weeks and buy up, because his prices will likely drop quite a bit.

LeBron's key autos and RCs might have a slight rise. Same with Kyrie. Both were already so high to begin with, so I don't expect too much change.

Love will stay about the same. Agree that game seven kept him from slipping.

Tristan's rookie year autos might - or at least should - have a slight bump. I'm not sure the casual fan realizes how much of an impact he has, though, so hard to say.

JR and RJ are old vets whose stuff has been stable for quite some time. Their key cards come from a different era with different teams, so I don't expect much change. Iggy's stuff didn't show much of a change when GS won last season, so I can't expect JR and RJ - who played nice roles, but weren't series changers like Iggy was to GS last year - to have any kind of hobby surge.

I definitely agree that their prices were hgh to start. The amount of coin that was being thrown at Curry stuff makes me think that both of these guys still have a lot of value to gain.

One interesting factor is that this team did this against Curry - the guy who the hobby has been throwing money at for 2 years. Do some of those people start to throw some money at the guys who took out their team?

I expect the role players to get a big rise short term. Jr and Jefferson are so low people will ht bins on some of their cards for 1.5-2x recent sales to get a decent card of theirs.

Kyrie high end might get a slight bump but all those rookie autos that we're going for 40-50$ 6 months ago are going to go up a bunch.

Lebron cards have to increase somewhat significantly short term. This championship has to put him on the map as one of the all time greats

I think the fan base makes a difference... the Bay Area crowd is relatively affluent so the number of collectors driving up prices on Klay/Steph/Draymond are at levels that probably don't make sense for most of the country.

Cleveland doesn't have as much of the deep pocketed collector demographic.

I think Kyrie should get more attention but he may still be the 5th best PG in the league behind Curry, Westbrook, Lillard, CP3...

I don't see that much fluctuation from Lebron, mainly because he hasn't had NBA-licensed auto's for years so there is almost not enough supply to create demand...

For sure they will probably throw money at the Cavs.

But to me the only player I would throw money at would be Lebron---his auto's (especially his upperdeck auto's from 2003-2008) are about as stable an investment you can get.

This historic win puts him on a new level. IMO.

Yes, his auto's are expensive, but well worth it.

Agreed, I see a pretty good price drop on Curry cards in the next few weeks. When it happens, I'd like to pick a few up. Amazing talent. After the finals last year, I remember his cards being oversold and driving the prices down.

I think there will be a spike in Michael Jordan fleer cards because of the recent Cavs win. We'll also see a drop in Durant and Westbrook prices since GS lost.

HAHA, I had to laugh at that one.. Nice job

OP: Lebron should get a boost I'd think. Kyrie too... maybe short term for others, but not a ton or over the long run/haul..

What about Varejao's contribution to the Cavs, ha. He still helped out the Cavs after all.

As someone that supercollects Tristan I certainly hope he doesn't have a big jump. Although I did just grab another Immac RPA for like $38 today so that was a good sign. I see Kyrie and Lebron stuff going up and staying up for awhile. The rest of the guys might see a small boost for a little while but not much. Smith Cavs high end stuff is pretty competitive. I pick up a lot of Smith, and there is 1-2 other collectors that go all out for his stuff.

That's interesting about JR. It makes sense that he would have a few high end buyers. He's pretty exciting to watch when he's on a good run.
