Default Is the value of pitchers rookie cards less because of less games than hitters

Just curious on the value of pitchers-because the play less games, are their rookie cards less expensive?

Thanks

Kershaw would have Trout prices if he weren't a pitcher, because of those injury risks.

His cards were rising very steadily this year. Heck, I got an 06 BC BGS 9 for $400 earlier this year and two weeks later it was more than $200 that and with his injury prices have dropped significantly.

Plus, the hobby is driven by the long ball. Not 300 K's.

Is football the same way? Are running backs the cheapest?

No clue. Don't collect football. Have some Moss rookies and Le'Veon Bell for investing.

Starting pitchers might pitch once every five days. If they have two or three rough outings, a half month goes by before anything good might be said about him. Poor press equals low prices.

It's a shame really, because pitchers are the most important player on the field, they deserve greater credit than they currently receive.

Think of the greatest players of all-time.

If you thought almost only (or completely only) of position players, then that answers your question.

This.

For whatever reason, pitchers not named Koufax are valued much less than hitters from the same era.

For example, look at the value of Feller, Spahn, and Gibson cards/autographs compared to hitters from the same era.

Or compare the value of a 1989 Griffey RC to a 1989 Randy Johnson RC....

Much higher risk for devastating injuries and shortened careers, and far worse investment overall

Yes, pitchers and running backs tend to have the shortest career lifespans out of every position in their respective sports
