Default Anyone here tried AMAZON RESTAURANT? Is it good?

Was it everything you expected?

Want to give them a try today since amazon said I have $10 off for a first time user.

Used them in DC and to be honest I found them much better than Orderup or Grubhub

You tip them on the computer and/or app? I don't have to be home to sign for anything is that correct?

I'm asking because, I might be late so a family member will probably get the door.

I just saw this was well ironically...

I realized I screwed up ordering Amazon Prime (I just signed up) and everything was in bulk... and then I realized what I really wanted was Prime Now for the type of crap I ordered

And then I saw there were like 25 places around me that will deliver food. I'll have to try it as well for the $10 promo.

I don't get the food delivery thing unless it's like pizza, Chinese or subs

I used Take-Out Taxi and Waiter-on-the way years ago, and to be honest, the food always arrived warm/cold or took wayyyyyy too long. You still tip the driver, so unless you had a few too many, I'm not sure where the value is.

The only problem with this is that the entire point of take out is to go to the place, by yourself away from the wife and kids, so you can have 2 beers while they make your food.

Pizza is the outlier.

Has changed a lot since then.

We use Orderup/Grubhub/Amazon Restaurant on average 12-15 times a month. Went back and did quick scan of the accounts over the last 12 months and it is over 150 times we used them.

Only 3 of times have we had the food show up late, with an issue, or just warm, which is on par for what we would have happen at a restaurant with slow service, so we chalk it up to law of averages.

Value is we get off work and put in the order there it is at home a few minutes after we arrive. We are at our store and are busy, then we order and keep on helping customers. We are at home and do not feel like cooking or running out, there is our dinner. Out of town at a hotel and do not want room service, same thing.

There are many other reasons we and others have used it, but I would rate my satisfaction level at 99%.

One of the 3 times we had an an issue with an order delivered to the day job office and the Orderup not only refunded us, but the restaurant apologized and remade the order and sent a gift card along with the remade order.

I'll have to check out this Amazon Restaurant stuff. We use DoorDash a couple times a month for the reasons you outlined. Nothing better than having good food show up to your door while you take care of the kids or whatever.

That's what I thought too when I saw the title!

No restaurants around me, and there probably never will be, but I might give it a try next time I'm in Chicago.

I may have to revisit the food delivery services again if you guys claim they are that great. Like stated, times have changed and if I can have an Uber driver at my door 3 minutes after requesting a ride, food delivery has probably improved exponentially.

I do remember the services I used had their OWN menu's, and prices were always higher. Like a Surf and Turf from Outback (just an example guys lol) would cost $30 at the restaurant, but if I ordered it through Waiter-on-the-way, it was $35 for example; plus the delivery fee. Is it still the same way?

I deliver part time for GH and at times ubereats.

Most restaurants do have a delivery fee which the drivers get 0 of because the restaurants keep it to make up for what they have to give to GH/Uber/DD/Amazon,etc. There are some places I have never been to because they fee is way too high. Normal fees should run an extra $1.50-$4 and many places let you do pick up to avoid the fee, so that way you can use your discount codes. All the food prices should be exactly the same as what is on their regular menu.

I tried to get on with Amazon because of the 1 hour guarantee so the food would be ready quicker than the other places but at least out here they are only using the normal amazon deliver drivers to do the food too. I don't know anyone who has used it yet but I'm sure many have especially with the $10 off the first order.

I hate ubereats because they don't allow tips on the app and the deliveries are usually 15-20 miles away and you don't know where you are going until you have picked up and confirmed the order. The order is 99 out of 100 times ready when you get the restaurant though which I like.

I like GH when it works and I have delivered to many of the same people and do very well for the 9-15 hours a week I put in. The expansion they have done this year is great, but the food is either not ready because the order and driver come at the same time or it has been ready for a while because other drivers declined to pick up the order. They try to get me to some way away places and the other drivers can be jerks regarding their shifts.

There are a ton of these delivery services now and you may get them for the same places and drivers anyway.

Still haven't tried it yet. I do love the 1 hour guarantee from Amazon.
