I've always had a soft spot for the 1955's, all 1955's really. The 56's seem to be very popular among collectors in general, but I like the 55's much more.

Default Some favorites from the 2017 crop thus far...

The Grover is my first Collins-McCarthy; nice to have that set represented. Finding a 41PB Ted centered was as hard as finding the DeLong Lou centered. The Koufax made me sell my 8, as side-by-side the 2.5 had better centering and eye appeal; it has a micro wrinkle visible only at a certain angle under strong light. Gotta love those rare freak cards that save us collectors a bundle.

I'm hoping to close the deal on my March vintage in an auction that ends late tonight.

Thanks!

I too like the 55 over 56. I'm also a big fan of 54. I guess that is why I wanted Jackie's 54 & 55. Haha.

I have been trying to get the OPC's and Venezuelans as well but those are really tough.

My next dream Clemente is the 1957 Kahn's
Just a heads up.

There is a beautiful '66 Batting leaders Clemente/Aaron/Mays being auctioned currently on the bay.
Its a PSA 8 with front centering that looks to be amongst the best I have ever seen, and in fact I wonder why its not higher than a PSA 8, other than the back centering that's not quite as strong as the front.
Currently at $215 and climbing with a day and a half left.

There is also an excellent PSA 8 BIN example, for $225.

Something else, a a few Venezuelan versions of this card is currently on the bay also. One is pretty rough, as its a PSA 1 and it really shows it. $299 OBO.
Another Venezuelan, this time PSA 3 for $562 OBO.
There is also a rough, raw Venezuelan version for $296 OBO.

I thought these were interesting, and I will be watching what that PSA 8 ends at when the auction closes.

OK, I know one of you heathens nailed that 1958 Roberto Clemente PSA 7 this morning on Ebay.

I was looking over a few things this morning, and it came up as a new listing, and it looked absolutely incredible for a '58 PSA 7. I believe it was listed for $395 and it sold within just an hour or two of hitting Ebay.

I was going to make a move on it tonight, but someone beat me to the punch.
If one of you guys here snagged it, you got yourself a nice one~!

Nice Larry Doby fulltritty. I always look forward to your new acquisitions and posts.

Sent this Carter RC into PSA this week. Do you believe it'll be OC Qualifier? Back is very well centered.

Looks OK to me. Sure it doesn't look perfect, but it needn't be.

I can only judge from the picture, which admittedly isn't a good closeup, but I doubt it gets an OC designation.

BTW- I'll give it a PSA 7. The corners look fairly sharp, I'm guessing no wrinkles or creases.

I agree on the centering. It's a little off, but I've seen much worse listed on EBay that had no OC qualifier. I didn't look closely enough to see how the corners are, but it seems to be a solid looking card overall.

Thanks, that's what I like to hear. Sorry about the small picture and photo, it's the only one i had taken before I sent it off. Updated it with photobucket image too.

No way thats OC.

I stand by my earlier PSA 7 rating, and wouldn't be shocked to see an 8.

You can never really tell unless the card is in hand, but it does look like it might have one soft corner. (the lower left???) But its hard to tell.
The centering is not a big issue IMO.

Pretty nice card.
I haven't followed these type cards in ages, I'm guessing thats a $70-$100 card in PSA 8???

A little lower than $100, but there's multiple on eBay for around $70 that haven't sold. I decided to do the set in all PSA 8. So, I'm really hoping you're correct

With the bigger picture you added, it looks like a great card. I wish you luck with your submission....an 8 wouldn't surprise me.

Great looking card, I think the snow will keep it out of an eight holder though. I agree with the others no chance a (OC).

Long time forum visitor, first time post. I decided last month to stop opening so much new product/group breaks etc, and venture into some vintage (this forum has been a great for learning some basics). Ill never be a heavy hitter like many members here (2 teenagers stay in my wallet lol). Here are my first month (March) of pickups, local trades etc. I really have no direction, just grabbing some that catch my eye or can make a deal on....and the 1915 Cracker Jack's I LOVE, ill never have a set, Ill never afford the big cards, but grabbing all I can in 1-3 grade. Love seeing all you guys pickups!

Welcome to the fold sir.
You will likely find this vintage more rewarding long term, when you take everything into consideration with your collection.
("investment" is often mentioned in this vintage arena)

I like all the cards you picked up, but I am a bit biased. I have been watching Ebay for nice PSA 8 59' Clementes recently, so your addition stood out.

I look forward to your future pick ups.
