So I do not flip books, I buy to read, pick a few variants with my regular books but some times I get bored with a book or lose interest. Harley Quinn I have been collecting and reading since series 2 came out, I think 0-38 is the run. I have every book up to this month with a ton of variants from series 2, book 15, till now. I was trying to read today and realized I have little to interest in Harley Quinn anymore. So decided to move my collection to make room for new stuff I am reading, and old, started in on Deadpool finally and New Mutants, late start for me but I buy lots here and there and connect them together! Anyhow, I am not sure if it is worth hanging on to Harley till her movie, or just drop em now. Usually movies tend to help increase in value, but not sure how much upside there is being I usually only collect!
Thanks |

I don't see anything happening that would bump up the price on HQ books. Movie hype tends to be the biggest driver, and that ship has sailed...

GSC could help renew interest in the character. She's not top-of-mind right now so values are low. Now is the time to buy on HQ, but not sell.

A bunch of books already jumped from the GSC hype back in june/July. They might see a little more growth (or even a lot more if the movie turns out to be amazing), but it's hardly a buyers market.

Example 1: Suicide Squad #1 (New 52) was selling for $100+ right before the movie. Now, you can get them for $30-40. I think the same thing will happen when the Harley movie is close to being released. Example 2: Quick glance at completed sales on eBay, I see: Harley Quinn (New 52) - #0-30 sold for $89.95 ($2.90 an issue) Harley Quinn (New 52) - #0-30 + Annual 1 sold for $129.95 ($4.06 an issue) Harley Quinn (Rebirth) - #1-20 sold for $50.00 ($2.50 an issue) Harley Quinn (New 52) - #0-30 + 5 other HQ issues sold for $71.00 ($1.97 an issue) If you're buying now, most of those can be had for cover price or below. I'd say that's good for buyers! Take out your 13.9% for eBay and PP fees and being the seller is no bueno. All I'm saying is, if you have a stack of HQ books you don't want and you can afford to hang onto them, hold for a bit longer and you should see a bump down the road.

I am asking and not telling by posting this because I genuinely do not know the answer.
Shouldn't New 52 price realizations be taken out of the equation because new 52 back issue sales took a huge hit in general once Rebirth launched? |

I kept those in there in answer to OP's question. He has New52 and Rebirth books he wants to sell.

Deadpool first series and hq first series are still the ones to hold. Low prints, no variants, and solid throughout.

Thanks for all the insight. I just have the cover price invested so I will hang on to em. Just having a hard time reading the newer stuff so I am removing this from my monthly list, there are a lot of new comics I enjoy so I'll move her box to the back of the closet and move on!

I watch a lot of Harley keys and they don't seem at all depressed to me right now. Suicide Squad #1... Suicide Squad movie. Some Gotham Sirens books might see more action, but the buyers market on those was pre-announcement. |

Both titles probably have a half-dozen to dozen books (excluding the manufactured variants with low print runs whose values are handcuffed to scarcity more so than popularity) that are worth anything worth mentioning or holding onto, otherwise the majority of releases are dollar bin fodder. The 1st appearance books are worth holding onto since the characters themselves with the costume design, recognizably by non-comic fans, and general popularity as well as the licensing of the character's images for merchandise make's 'em not so much "flash-in-the-pan" (as let's say "Guardians of the Galaxy" is), and will retain their values as well as have steady increases. The rest of the stuff like the "New 52" isn't worth holding and waiting, but at the same time isn't worth anything in terms of selling either. Your best bet is to try to get them signed by the artist/writer at a convention then sell the signed lot for a premium over cover price, otherwise be at peace knowing you'll probably take a loss selling 'em, but if you didn't buy them as an investment, read them and somewhat enjoyed them, you got your money's worth and should sell them (think if them as being a newspaper, entertainment weekly, sports illustrated, etc. - a periodical you read and toss away, to that point) |

If you want to buy and sell for a profit it's about knowing how the market works, in general. Impossible to predict what will really be the ceiling or low point for any one book. |
