Mailday
This one's pretty special. I grabbed my first MJ/LBJ UD Black gold dual ~4 years ago, and followed that up with another the next year at the National. While picking through a certain someone's SmugMug at work (RIP TRISTAN), I stumbled across a gorgeous LBJ/Kobe from the same release. In the spirit of our collecting godfather Spinotron, I knew I had to hold out hope that I could complete the MJ/LBJ - Kobe/LBJ UD Black gold pairing. Dream big, kiddo! I searched Photobuckets (and have the malware quarantine history to prove it - STOP USING F***ING PHOTOBUCKET, PEOPLE), I searched Flickrs, I searched SmugMugs, I Google Imaged, I Instagrammed, I Chantilly'ed, I Fanatics'ed, I National'ed, but the only things I could find were deep in personal collections. Coincidentally, the only time one hit the auction block was about 2 years ago, and it was this same card. Unfortunately, once I realized it had been listed, someone scooped it up with the quickness. With the dream deferred seemingly indefinitely, I proceeded accordingly. Then, during a routine Facebook scan, there it was. The same one I missed 2+ years ago was back in the hands of a great collecting friend. Deep breaths. After a day or so of back and forth, we sealed a deal. It arrived last night, and I haven't been this attached to a piece of cardboard since I had that life sized Pam Anderson Baywatch cutout in the corner of my room as a budding adolescent. I started doing some Worthpoint digging and quickly realized another fun fact - this is the only Lebron/Kobe dual patch release with on-card autographs. While there are a handful of on-card auto/jersey subsets, a few Scripted Swatches iterations (with signatures on the actual patch), and some 08-09 auto/patch releases using the last of UD's Kobe sticker autos, there are, to the best of my knowledge, only 5 patch cards ever made where they both signed on the card. If I am off-base in my research, definitely let me know, but I'm pretty sure this is the case. Many thanks to all who helped me keep a somewhat level head throughout the process, and, of course, to the other trade party. Hearts on fire.

Congrats! Awesome card. I loved getting to see some of your collection in person at the National. Truly amazing. Maybe one day my collection can grow up to be half as cool as yours

Panini needs to call Upper Deck and find out what gold pens they used because they look so much better than the thick gold markers Panini uses. Gorgeous cards OP

Usually I would post something smug or sarcastic for Justins maildays...
But this is one of the handful of times Ive actually felt excitement for someone myself because I know how genuinely excited he was for this mailday. Happy he brought it home
