Default Does anyone on BO write/record their own music?

I'm just curious. I love cards, they are a break from music. Posting on this site has been an experiment for me in terms of human relation. (I don't relate very well, in situations considered normal)

But if you play music, especially indie/folk (?? kind of?) ...do you exist on this site?

Sorry if boring topic.

Yes! I've been writing my own stuff since 1995 or so. I went to the Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences in 2000, have a modest home studio setup with tons of gear and instruments, etc.... I work 12 hour midnights and I also don't relate well. I work on music when my brain allows me. Rock/Indie/Alternative stuff

!!!

I'd love to hear it!

Mine is here...new things always being worked on.

I sometimes think I'm the only musician who has an interest in card collecting, so I'm actually kind of mind blown that someone even responded to this thread.

Post your links!

EDIT - I was doing "David Lee Roth" in this vid. I don't normally doop around like that.

Nice ambient song!

older stuff is here. I've since lost all of my originals when my hard drive crashed, with backups only in .wav and .mp3 format, so currently re-doing most everything plus new stuff.

Are you playing all the instruments in these? I love the sound you got. Very well recorded.

I'm terrified of losing backups, they're in several places out of paranoia.
I've mostly only recorded with someone else in the past, learning to turn the knobs on my own now. It's a tedious, frustrating process. I research a lot of how-to articles/videos, still trying to get it right.

Your stuff sounds really, really good.

Thanks! Yes, I played, recorded and mixed everything myself. Typically 1 off recordings and mixes, meaning I don't spend a lot of time messing with the details.

Fiddling with the knobs yourself is the best way to learn. Then once you learn more, you want more gear and more gear, and more gear, lol. Then you have to try to figure out what to spend your extra money on, cards or gear, lol. If you have any recording or mixing questions send me a message and I will try to help you out.

I've played in a few punk bands. I still write my own stuff when I feel like distracting myself from grading or paper writing.

Only satanic musics with lyrics about death and destruction.

Basically Slayer-like

I write lyrics, mainly contemporary country. I have a bunch of stuff I want to get demos for soon. Here's the only demo I have so far.

I've been writing songs for years - never put any to music though, as I can't sing at all. I actually wrote one during a flight from Denver to Montana last week. It had been a very long time since I was able to completely write a song in one sitting.

I wrote a song called "Take Flight: The Angel of Death" when I was 14(1984). It was Bass heavy and although at the time I thought it was going to be the most sung metal song ever...after I heard Slayer Reign in Blood a few years later...I learned how terribly cheesy and awful it really was!!!! Lol
